Rich Eisen on The Mafia traveling to London

Yes, but he was very annoyed with fellow passengers who were .....talking to each other Rich, three words for you....Noise Cancelling Headphones. Or EAR protectors. Control what you can control. -
I posted elsewhere, I'm not sure what's going on with that video. Either Miller is trying to force McDermott's hand via publicity, especially with Rousseau out or McDermott wants the Jags to have to prepare for the possibility that Miller will play (he has some unique moves) or It should be taken at face value, and he will play - but possibly not very much In the same interview, Miller did say that he wasn't in "game shape" because there's no substitute for the physical contact of pre-season and actual games, but he could "dip his toe in" That is one possibility
-
TBH, I don't know WHAT to make of Von Miller's pressers. Says there's a "94.5%" chance that he plays. Also says he's not in "game shape" and there's no substitute for the physical contact of training camp and games, that he's going to be "dipping his toe in" -is Von trying to force McDermott's hand into making him a game active via the "court of public opinion", especially with Groot ruled out? -is Groot's injury worse than announced? I have missed what McDermott is calling it - is it "day to day" or "week to week"? -or is this Gamesmanship by McDermott? Von Miller has some unique pass-rush moves and tendencies, and if Von is talking like he'll play, the Jaguars OL needs to study them and the game plan needs to account for him

Oooooh....Tyreek Hill and Ja'Marr Chase going to have a bone to pick with that man

Of course it's mind-numbingly stupid. You're talking to a troll, and one who is not putting in the effort to be intriguing, entertaining, or enticing. Why are you guys feeding the troll?

John Harbaugh had a story too. The NFL encourages players to complete their degrees during the off seasons. The players need to loop in the HC in case they need some accommodation during OTAs/mandatory minicamp/TC, like a personal day to travel to campus or take tests. So the coaches are all, well, coached, to support and encourage this. But they're also busy people so if it's something routine like encouraging a guy to complete his degree, they don't necessarily disengage completely from whatever they're thinking about. So Urschel tapped on Harbaugh's door. "Come in! What can I do for you?" "Coach, I wanted to let you know I'm planning to work on my degree this off-season" "That's great, John, you'll never regret it! Just let me know how we can help!" Urschel leaves, and Harbaugh goes back to whatever he was doing and then a minute later the lightbulb flashes - "Wait a minute. That was Urschel. What degree is he talking about?" Urschel graduated with his Masters in 2013 before being drafted spring of 2014, and of course once he was focusing, Harbaugh knew that.

LOL. As we all know, ligaments and tendons can take longer to heal and require longer rehab, than broken bones. Well, it's not just that. They may not know 100% if there's a fracture yet. Our resident ortho surgeon could tell us more here. But it's my understanding that certain fractures, such as Lisfranc injuries, are suspected when there's something equivalent to a crush injury (such as 300 lbs of Ed Oliver landing on the top of Groot's foot). I've heard that these are difficult to detect on x-ray initially - like 50/50 - and possibly even hard to pick up by MRI while there's swelling. So part of the waiting game may be "did he actually break something and we can't see it yet?". In a couple weeks when the swelling goes down and repair starts, small fractures can be seen more easily as a bright white line of new bone forming. (That's probably what happened with Beasley's ribs, btw - the fractures likely couldn't be seen initially especially if covered by a good pad of muscle. But after they started healing, then they could be seen. But by then he'd been playing, so it was going to be hard to make him sit down) As a troll, you are neither interesting or enticing. You need to put in more effort to have more effect.

They didn't used to, but when the Covid rules changed giving each PS player 3 free elevations (without waiver exposure) and making it possible that any player could be ruled out at just about any time, it was "PS GUYS, GET ON THE PLANE!" -

Hasn't happened Will be interesting to see what the Bills do on a couple of counts. If Von Miller is truly "limited" and "questionable", do they elevate Ja'Marcus Ingram to the 53-man to take Tre White's place? Or do they use one of 3 free PS elevations for one game, which wouldn't expose him to waivers? Or, are they actually confident enough in Benford that they roll into the game with Jackson, Benford, Elam, and Lewis as their CBs? -

The only starter of those ruled out is Devin Lloyd, who started their first 3 games at LB. But, Jamal Agnew is listed as their PR/KR and Parker Washington is his backup, who returned 1 punt vs. ATL. So if Agnew can't go or is hampered, there's that. Of the "questionables", Fatukasi is their starting NT so that would be a loss. Zay Jones is their #3 or #4 WR (depending on how you count Evan Engram), though he starts and was on the field ~80% of the snaps first 2 games. Guessing the Jags play a lot of 11, like maybe 75-80% of the snaps? Antonio Johnson is a 5th round rookie who has yet to take a snap. So it's a lot of names, but not much of substance. -
TNF. Sorry, is CHI/WSH worth a thread?

I mean, that was Josh Allen in 2019, right? 111 fewer yards, 5 more TD, 4 more INTs. And like Allen. Jones added 7 rush TD (2019 Allen had 9) and 700 rush yards. The idea is Jones had 24 TD and similar passing yardage under Shurmur his rookie year, so last year wasn’t a one-off, Garrett /Kitchens was an aberration, and Kafka/Daboll will get better production his 2nd year in the system. Obviously that’s not what seems to be happening, I’m just pointing out 1) rush production should be taken into account, as with Allen, Hurts, Jackson etc 2) what the reasoning likely was -
If we haven't had this brought up yet, go check out this Cover1 film room. If you're impatient of the chatter and the guys trying to make a deal out of a 0.26 second increase in Tua's time to throw, go about 17:50 in where they look at some MILANOOOOOOOOOO

Daniel Jones 'regression' IMO comes on the heels of his OL's 'regression'. But I agree he's a QB who needs a solid run game and at least an adequate OL to flourish. I think if you give him that, he can do OK against most secondaries with just competent skill guys - did he not do so last season? -

I think for NFL week purposes, putting a player on IR takes effect at the deadline for elevating PS players (day before the game). There's no need to IR White before that, and the team may legit be waiting to see what other moves they're going to make (elevating Ingram of the PS if there's concern about Benford; activating Von if they think he can go and Rousseau can't, etc). No reason to tip their hand early. I think it's pretty much announced the next day "out for the season", but as far as the actual designation of putting the player on IR, I think that usually officially happens the day before the next game. -

I found this https://www.sportsinsights.com/blog/is-there-still-a-disadvantage-for-nfl-west-coast-teams-traveling-east/ It seems to say that recently (since 2013) the West Coast teams actually do a bit better playing on the East coast than they do overall? (the article has some nifty tables that didn't paste in well, so check it out to see data) -

I dunno. I "get" that being able to spread out across an entire row is better than being locked in an upright position (or having someone else's seatback in your face) for an international flight, but "comfortable" in this context is still relative. Maybe I'm just projecting my own experience: sleeping on international flights (in fact, napping at all) is an Achilles heel for me. But, if they do have 44 first class seats, I would imagine most of the game day roster and some of the coaches were accommodated.... hoping the players were able to look at the seating and maybe some of the guys "nope'd" out of those convert-a-seats and chose to spread out across a row as actually giving them more space, rather than becoming a class or status marker. I find those seats a bit claustrophobic myself, so I can only imagine what they'd be like for an OL or DL. I don't think the EEOC would be "down" with sexual inexperience as a relevant employment criterion for grape feeding 😈 Also pretty sure the Sports Science department does not want him eating sugar bombs. Want food with protein (tryptophan) and fats, I believe. Perhaps they dropped gourmet Portuguese tinned sardines into his mouth one at a time.......sort of like feeding a captive Sea Lion. -

Well, who knows, but when players like Poyer talk about watching film, they talk about it as something they’re doing in position meetings and on their own all week and, during a short week, even on the bus to the game. I wasn’t speaking of the film breakdown the QC guys do, but what the coaches and players do -

How does that disadvantage actually play out in terms of W-L record? I think it’s a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. The West Coast teams usually fly out Saturday AFAIK, so they have no time to adjust. And 3 hrs is kind of a “gotcha” as it doesn’t seem significant enough to make special efforts. If the Bills are doing what I think McDermott said, sleeping on the plane then staying up all day Friday, they should be OK by Sunday as far as body clocks. What I think is the bigger struggle is the preparation - hopefully they got in two good practices W and Th, but will they be mentally sharp enough to be alert to watch film Fri and Sat and to process all the details of the plays in the game plan? -

Was it Fitz or Whitworth who said “Defense is a state of mind”? To me that’s the story of this game. The Bears had that state of mind. The Commanders didn’t. -

Methinks they looked at the Bears 0-4 record and became 2-2 complacent. I’m sure a tough game with a close finish and a short week didn’t help But they really do look bad. Defeated, and it’s not even halftime -
