  1. When the Bills let Phillips leave in FA and released Star Lotulelei, it was pretty obvious that they wanted to re-work the 1T DT position. I don't think going back is the answer.
  2. What a shame the Bills signed 1TDTs Tim Settle and Poona Ford this off season. I guess that might keep them from putting in a 3T to play 1T. (Ed Oliver is also capable of playing 1TDT, it's just a waste of some of the good things he can do. Jordan Phillips, Not So Much.) Incorrect. https://www.fieldgulls.com/2023/6/17/23764366/former-seahawks-dt-poona-ford-reveals-why-signed-buffalo-bills-nfl-news
  3. If it's grade 1 or grade 2, McDermott wouldn't be talking about him needing surgery.
  4. Pretty much Big problem with this: Jordan Phillips is a 3TDT. He's a Big Guy and may LOOK like a 1TDT, but attempts to make him play there in the past have not worked well. Daquan Jones is a 1TDT. We do have two 1TDT on the roster in Settle and in Poona Ford.
  5. McDermott said he would require surgery I believe. https://bangedupbills.com/2023/10/09/examining-buffalo-bills-matt-milanos-right-knee-injury/ I think he's done for this year.
  6. Nits: A sprain is a ligament injury A strain is a muscle injury Like sprains, which vary in severity from stretching but no tearing of the ligament to completely torn ligament Strains have the same variance. So the surgery is because it's a strain, but a severe one - probably Grade III
  7. McDermott said he would need surgery. Doesn't know yet if it's "season ending".
  8. Let's pump the brakes and see what's wrong with Rousseau/how fast he's back/what he looks like Then let's pump the brakes and see what Von Miller looks like.
  9. When Feliciano tore his pec at the very end of July in 2020, he came back at the beginning of November. So 3 months. Milano tore his pec at the beginning of October 2020 and (should have missed) 7 games before coming back on a pitch count. So call it 8 weeks. He didn't have surgery as the muscle wasn't completely torn. [should have missed because they let him try to play in a LB brace and he couldn't even lift his arm] Stuff around the interweb says torn pec is 8-12 week recovery Milano though - I think that's season ending. 😥
  10. Not just Chad Hall, but Heath Farwell. But yeah, they were so "on it" that I wondered if the Bills actually left some signals or verbiage intact - bad move if so.
  11. That's what pre-season and training camp are about. There isn't a lot of time for looking/teaching during the season. I think someone had it right above - McDermott believes strongly in having a vet presence in each room. Who is the vet presence in our CB room right now? This is Dane Jackson's 4th season but he really only has about 1 1/2 seasons of starts. It's Benford and Elam's second season. They aren't signing Norman to "play right quick". He's on the practice squad.
  12. I've never seen a breakdown. I've read "the bills and nfl" are responsible for ## but never a breakdown on who paid what. If the nasty field had anything to do with some of our player injuries I'm beyond pissed.
  13. Did the Bills get a couple hundred million from the NFL to build a stadium?
  14. He came back in the game.
  15. Pretty sure the women don't like you either. Fair.
  16. To be fair, it's not uncommon for Brown, especially, to ramble on in some of those segments. Tasker is usually more concise. I realize that may not be a high bar. My impression is she's mostly there to be a "fluff piece" creator. One Bills Live is actually doing a great job this season of bringing in some quality football minds during the week - Dan Orlovsky, Brian Baldinger, and of course Greg Cosell. These are all guys who have forgotten more football than anyone in this board ever knew - including the people on this board who have forgotten more football than I'll ever know. These guys are couth, they're not going to roll up and say "your player sucks" but they do deal it straight.
  17. Well, now, which is it? You say Fangio is trying to plug players into his scheme instead of devising a scheme around his players. But then you go on to heavily critique the players. So is it the scheme that's a mismatch, or is it the players that are bad? Regarding Ramsey, in 2020 and 2021 he was a 1st team all-pro for a reason, with a completion percentage against him of 51% and 59% respectively. Fell off a bit last season, but part of that is the Ram's offense free-falling from a top-10 offense to bottom-5. It's not true that he hasn't been a lockdown corner with a high level of play "for years". And pretty much every cornerback will get torched now and again by the league's best WRs. He commanded a 3rd round pick plus a player - both sides in that trade thought he can still play. I don't feel a lot of energy in delving into the details of LB play, Xavier Holland, Wilkins etc but if you're right about the scheme being a poor fit, how can you tell whether Wilkins is a "shell of his former self", or whether moving from a 4-3 to a 3-4 simply doesn't suit him? The Dolphins signed David Long from the Titans as a FA for $11M/2, he's not Oluakun or Roquan Smith but I think he's regarded as "solid" not "awful". Van Ginkel, BTW, is listed as their 2nd string and started 2/4 games. So given the preceding and your Ramsey "hasn't been a lock down for years" excuse me if I'm skeptical. Regarding the Miami D overall, right now they're about where they were last year - 24th, 25th - but 1/4 of that is getting whalloped by the Bills. They have 2 games where they've given up less than 20 points (league average is 22) and 2 games where they've given up more than 30 points. So it may be early days to see whether or not they're a huge disappointment. I think it's fair to say that Fangio has not effected an immediate and dramatic improvement.
  18. As I see it, the differences are 1) Elam was the Bills own first round pick last season - in fact, didn't we trade up for him? And, he started 6 games, playing 100% of the snaps in the first 3 then a steadily decreasing number until he was a healthy scratch for a couple games - all this before Tre White returned. 2) our #1 CB just went on IR and #2 Questionable with a shoulder injury. So if we want to believe the Coachspeak that it's been a close battle and different coaches had different rankings of Benford, Jackson, and Elam, we expect to see him dress and play with the injury situation. Ford, on the other hand, is a former UDFA who started 4 years as a Seahawk. He kind of sucked in 2022 when Carroll asked him to play 3TDT, but played well previous years as a 1TDT. Evidence is, he's pretty much a NT or 1TDT, and the Bills think DaQuan and Settle are better. I don't understand the Vickers thing, because I can't find anything about him being able to rotate inside and out, but @Warcodered may be correct that they'll be looking for him to fill some of the inside snaps Rousseau took.
  19. Pretty sure he chose Penn State because they gave him football scholarship.
  20. Wait, what? When was Lawson on the injury report? He wasn't on it Friday, did he sprain his shoulder lifting a pint this morning? Edit: OK, I found it, but WTF? https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/bills-shaq-lawson-added-to-injury-report/ They were doing a walkthrough practice, how did he injure his toe?
  21. Ouch
  22. Usually PhD candidates, especially at major unis like MIT, have their tuition covered and receive a stipend, especially if they are asked to teach or TA.
  23. This is of more interest to me. Now it does happen that sometimes the Bills have elevated a player "just in case" and then he doesn't play. But usually, using one of 3 PS elevations on a player means they intend to have him active So....is Christian Benford's shoulder bad enough that he's leaning towards "out"? Or are they gonna make Ingram active, and have Elam a healthy scratch again? If the latter....Wow. Then, there's the question of why are we elevating a DT? We don't have a DT who has been on the injury report, and in fact...we've had one who's been a healthy scratch the most recent 2 games, and who only played 23 snaps (25%) in the 2 first games. So I'll be very interested to see our game day inactives. They did elevate Ingram for this game.
  24. And I mean, he wasn't even complaining that they were doing something out of the way, like singing or whooping it up. He complained that they were....Talking. I mean, is it conformity minded and the most considerate behavior, No. But people react to flying differently, and there's nothing that says one can't have a quiet conversation with lights on if that's what gets you through the flight. So I wouldn't call it "extremely rude" unless they were whooping it up and hollering or playing loud music or powering a disco ball off their USB port. IMHO its "on" the people who 100% can and want to sleep, to bring face masks and noise-cancelling headphones or EAR protectors so that they can isolate themselves from those who can't/don't want to.
  25. I don't think their defense is a disaster. But they went into the season in the same position the Bills finished 2021 - missing their star lockdown CB. The Bills drafted CBs in 2022 and went into the season star-less, but they seem to have had a plan to be solid at that point. The part about the Miami D that was a disaster against the Bills was putting Kader Kouhou 1:1 against Diggs. They really should have double-covered Diggs and forced the Bills to beat them by throwing to someone else.
