AJ Klein has backed up Milano. 2020, Chiefs game, Jets and Patriots game when Milano tried to play but couldn't tackle so Klein took the majority of the snaps - didn't look good. Then they put Milano on IR and re-worked the defense to better suit what Klein can do. Next week, AJ Klein wins DPOW against the Seahawks. Huh. Anyway, point is, Klein has played both roles, but it works best when the DC tweaks the defense and doesn't try to plug him in as a 1:1 Milano substitute. There is no substitute for Cookie.

Pretty much Big problem with this: Jordan Phillips is a 3TDT. He's a Big Guy and may LOOK like a 1TDT, but attempts to make him play there in the past have not worked well. Daquan Jones is a 1TDT. We do have two 1TDT on the roster in Settle and in Poona Ford.

When Feliciano tore his pec at the very end of July in 2020, he came back at the beginning of November. So 3 months. Milano tore his pec at the beginning of October 2020 and (should have missed) 7 games before coming back on a pitch count. So call it 8 weeks. He didn't have surgery as the muscle wasn't completely torn. To be fair, it's not uncommon for Brown, especially, to ramble on in some of those segments. Tasker is usually more concise. I realize that may not be a high bar. My impression is she's mostly there to be a "fluff piece" creator. One Bills Live is actually doing a great job this season of bringing in some quality football minds during the week - Dan Orlovsky, Brian Baldinger, and of course Greg Cosell. Well, now, which is it? You say Fangio is trying to plug players into his scheme instead of devising a scheme around his players. But then you go on to heavily critique the players. So is it the scheme that's a mismatch, or is it the players that are bad? Regarding Ramsey, in 2020 and 2021 he was a 1st team all-pro for a reason, with a completion percentage against him of 51% and 59% respectively. Fell off a bit last season, but part of that is the Ram's offense free-falling from a top-10 offense to bottom-5. It's not true that he hasn't been a lockdown corner with a high level of play "for years". And pretty much every cornerback will get torched now and again by the league's best WRs. He commanded a 3rd round pick plus a player - both sides in that trade thought he can still play. I don't feel a lot of energy in delving into the details of LB play, Xavier Holland, Wilkins etc but if you're right about the scheme being a poor fit, how can you tell whether Wilkins is a "shell of his former self", or whether moving from a 4-3 to a 3-4 simply doesn't suit him? The Dolphins signed David Long from the Titans as a FA for $11M/2, he's not Oluakun or Roquan Smith but I think he's regarded as "solid" not "awful". Van Ginkel, BTW, is listed as their 2nd string and started 2/4 games. So given the preceding and your Ramsey "hasn't been a lock down for years" excuse me if I'm skeptical. Regarding the Miami D overall, right now they're about where they were last year - 24th, 25th - but 1/4 of that is getting whalloped by the Bills. They have 2 games where they've given up less than 20 points (league average is 22) and 2 games where they've given up more than 30 points. So it may be early days to see whether or not they're a huge disappointment. I think it's fair to say that Fangio has not effected an immediate and dramatic improvement.

As I see it, the differences are 1) Elam was the Bills own first round pick last season - in fact, didn't we trade up for him? And, he started 6 games, playing 100% of the snaps in the first 3 then a steadily decreasing number until he was a healthy scratch for a couple games - all this before Tre White returned. 2) our #1 CB just went on IR and #2 Questionable with a shoulder injury. So if we want to believe the Coachspeak that it's been a close battle and different coaches had different rankings of Benford, Jackson, and Elam, we expect to see him dress and play with the injury situation. Ford, on the other hand, is a former UDFA who started 4 years as a Seahawk. He kind of sucked in 2022 when Carroll asked him to play 3TDT, but played well previous years as a 1TDT. Evidence is, he's pretty much a NT or 1TDT, and the Bills think DaQuan and Settle are better. I don't understand the Vickers thing, because I can't find anything about him being able to rotate inside and out, but @Warcodered may be correct that they'll be looking for him to fill some of the inside snaps Rousseau took.
