  1. It wasn't a stomping, but I thoroughly enjoyed Sept 25, 2011. There the Pats were, leading 24-17 going into the 4th Q after getting ahead 21-0 at the start of the 2Q FredEx, a Drayton Florence (who?) pick 6, and they're losing 31-24. Then they tied it up, and we're all "oh, here we go again with 'just give it to them' or its cousin", but one FG later they got to boo-hoo on home. I forget what it was, but it was supposed to be some sort of milestone game for the Pats if they won. 16-0 in 2016 with Brissett at QB was not nearly as sweet
  2. Why do you feel Joe Burrow requires "a pass" on his performance? Other QB have started the season slowly, perhaps due to lingering injury (Mahomes at the start of 2021) Other QB have been injured during the season and played through it, slowing them down (Josh in mid-2020, end of 2022, now) Do they get a pass, or do they get "he's in a slump" or "see, he's not that good" or yes, maybe "off to a slow start"?
  3. I think where Beane and the coaches got to this season, is that in theory, it is NOT the same thing In practice, for Josh...it seems to be, because once he starts running, his competitive nature comes out, and he'll fight for every grass blade instead of "being careful with his body" That was my point to the guy....if he's here for great football talk, engaging in what you call "pissy battles" (I like it) not only isn't great football talk .....It will cause a number of strong football posters to look at what he posts, categorize him as a troll/ s h i t stirrer and ignore him.
  4. I mean, we heard the same thing about the Chiefs after we had back-to-back losses to them in the 2020 season. We couldn't measure up, we couldn't beat them, how could we contain Kelce AND Hill. 2021, we beat them very solidly in the regular season only to lose by 13 seconds in the playoffs, then beat them in 2022 again. The Bengals were a better team end of last season and they're presumed to be the better team until we prove we can beat them. I'd feel a heck of a lot better about this game if we had White, Milano, and Jones.
  5. I think what they've both said is that they want him to take fewer hits. They want him to go out of bounds or slide. The problem, as Beane has phrased it, is that when Josh runs and takes a few hits, he gets "lathered up" and competitive, and won't do that.
  6. Oh, Yeah. The Titans first two drives in the Thursday night game vs Pittsburgh were just BRUTAL to watch. Brilliant defensive play, sack, tackler has both arms down trying not to land full body weight on the QB, "roughing the passer" etc etc etc. Flag Flag Flag Flag. I thought Tomlin was going to swallow his headset, starting with the mic
  7. Let me express, I thought it was a damned shame Anarumo wasn't offered a HC job somewhere else this off season - preferably in the NFC 😁 That's a valid point and McDermott falls rather into the same category - worries far more about points than yards. That said, historically, when a defense has a big difference between points and yards given up, it usually means turnovers are a factor. The Bengals 2022 defense was actually very well matched in points and yards - 7th and 8th. 2021, 7th and 13th, not a huge disparity. So they actually WEREN'T giving up disproportionate yards 2021 and 2022. This season to date the Bengals D has collected 13 turnovers, 4th in the league, and that probably goes a ways to explain how they're 27th in yards given up but 17th for points. Meanwhile your offense is very clean, only 6 turnovers all season which is 2nd in the leage. TL;DR @Scott7975 has a point. I think there's a point there. Josh has said in interviews "Sometimes I need a little contact"
  8. Some truth here. Allen creates problems by working outside the design of the play "off schedule" as you say. He also creates plays. It's a double-edged sword, and there needs to be a balance, No Doubt. Did you watch that assessment of the Tampa game by JT O'Sullivan? There were a couple of plays where O'Sullivan pointed out the first read or the appropriate hot read being an easy short throw to a wide-open guy. It was there. Allen would fail to take that and go for a much higher degree of difficulty, in one case rolling to the left on the run and signalling Kincaid what to do - "a legitimately awesome play by Josh Allen" He made the throw, but Kincaid is pretty well covered with a safety over the top converging, and Allen throws a dime which Kincaid brings down with a brilliant double-toe stretch to catch it in bounds. O'Sullivan points out the play is mesh routes with a rail and a hook route, and the first read is usually the rail route because the mesh route kind of forces defenders to interfere with each other to cover the back. Murray is WIIIIDE open "if you throw it to 28 right there, it's an easy first down". As O'Sullivan says, "Josh Allen can do this stuff, but don't come at me sideways when he does this stuff when it matters most, and it doesn't work out". I don't have the all-22 to look at, but Bengals playoff game, first series after Cincy drove down the field for 7, 3rd and 4, Allen overthrows a deep left sideline throw to Diggs on 3rd and 4, and it's 3 and out. It would not shock me to learn it was a similar route concept and Singletary or Cook were Wiiiiiide open down the rt sideline for an easy "move the chains". When we're facing a very good offense which can score on every drive and we have to match them, when the conditions are sub-par so that little slips by Josh and little slips by the WR add up, when we're facing a top secondary who can react better and turn those plays into picks - Press the "Easy" Button, Josh. It's there.
  9. In that sense, to @eball, how is Chao different (well, except for perhaps being a less upright and ethical person than some) from any other media figure who is paid to give an opinion based on his professional experience - all of the former players turned color commentator or announcer? They don't have actual direct knowledge of the play called or the player's assignment, but they have years of experience being on the field where similar concepts were called, so they can make a far more informed guess than most of us.
  10. Dude, I'll take you at your word that your intent is not to troll, but you really need to re-calibrate; your tone and word choice are at a level of aggressiveness and insult-slinging associated primarily with trolls and disruptive visitors from other teams. I say this for informational and educational purposes - if you want to incite, Keep on "As you were". If you want good discussion, you might want to dial it back and tone it down a bit because otherwise, folks here who are worth talking to will read a couple of your posts, assess the word choice and tone, and decline to engage. Could fool me by looking at your posts.
  11. If searching for dis-offs gets a team to come out physical and motivated, then that's what they need to do. The Bengals came out ready to play last January and the Bills came out flat. They won. We lost. Until we stomp them into Tiger-fur carpets (as God intended Buffalo to do), I can't critique what they do and praise our coaches. It worked for them. Whatever we did, didn't work for us. Sunday night, let's hope that changes. He did. Let's hope the Bills remember.
  12. Both Kincaid and Knox have 4.2 YAC/reception Knox can block though
  13. I’m not quite sure what your point is here. Yes, Josh Allen has the 2nd most picks right now - unless it’s the 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th. Know who else that could be said of? Pat Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. Tua and Stafford are 1 pick behind. Looked at as a % Allen is 7th. tied with Jalen Hurts and 0.2% worse than Pat Mahomes and Tua. Guess who is #3 in TD thrown, 1 TD behind Tua and 2 ahead of Mahomes. Maybe….the league’s top QB who throw a lot of TD and just generally throw a lot, also throw a lot of picks? Just a thought
  14. It was DH by rule, yes. As the announcers commented, you see that kind of thing a lot and it isn’t always called.
  15. It wasn’t PI, it was DH. That’s why it was still DH even though the ball was tipped
  16. He needs a better clock. Needs to get the ball out on time. DANG I wish we had D Hop, not sure any of our receivers haul that high pass in much less get some YAC
  17. I think you need enough ganja to buy some vowels
  18. We may have been trying, he may have wanted more than Beane was willing to part with, or negotiating with several teams, or maybe Beane hoped Settle would step up
  19. DaQuan Jones approves this message From what I gather, teams have been making him offers, he didn't bite. My opinion, he knows he doesn't have a full season in him, and it worked for him last year to sit home and wait until a contender came calling in November. Hopefully it will work for him again. PS he was signed by the Eagles on Nov 16, and started Nov 20 against Indy.
  20. McKenzie said some stuff about that One reason the Bills decided to move on from him IMHO One dude who got cut not too long thereafter is not "some of the players".
  21. Well first of all, there's a lot of noise in DUI, malpractice cases, and so forth to say Dr David Chao is not an upright person nor as a physician, following best practices and the highest standards. But, he was a Chargers team physician for decades, so he has a strong grasp on what injuries are likely to occur in different scenarios where limbs are bent different ways, and what the typical timeline for recovery of those typical injuries might be. There are some things, like the fluttering calf, that speak pretty clearly to a specific injury like Achilles. When Josh Allen was injured his rookie year there was film of him being examined on the sideline by a trainer using a procedure called the "milking maneuver" and having a very strong reaction, which is indicative of a UCL injury. It would be awful for him to do this if he were actually "putting hands on a patient" and part of their treatment team, but I don't see what makes Chao more of a "w-h-o-r-e" for accepting money someone is willing to pay him for using his experience and expertise as a former NFL team physician to predict injuries and their likely recovery timeline. And I say that as someone who obviously, does not have a high opinion of Dr Chao based on his public record of DUI, misprescribing drugs, and patients suing him for malpractice. I heard debate on that point. We've all seen some cases where a QB tried to play through injuries instead of being shut down and it had a negative impact on his career. Allen himself acknowledged that he wasn't able to use his normal throwing motion for weeks but instead reverted to one he'd used earlier in his career when his accuracy was less. That implies to me he wasn't "throwing the ball just fine" There isn't a body part or parts on the team that's more important to "get right" than those the starting QB uses to throw.
  22. Oh, whups! I thought we were talking about Dr David Chao You know, This Guy https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2016/04/30/chargers-doctor-david-chao-accused-gros-engligence-treatment-junior-seau/83777186/ https://consumerwatchdog.org/uncategorized/report-dui-football-doctor-responsible-death-chargers-star-seau/ https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/polar-care-500-david-chao-breg-international-jury-award/1929962/ And that's just 5 minutes work If he's still a member of the NFL Physicians Society that may not be a credit to that organization
  23. 1) It was mentioned that he had "tweaked" his ankle earlier in the season, but he's been on the injury report the previous 2 weeks 2) No information on this point 3) No. But since mid-season, most players are dealing with some kind of ding or tweak, almost any player can be added to IR with a genuine injury.
  24. On LB, I think we have what we have. I think the Bills feel the strategy of platooning Dodson and Poyer as a "dime" backer will get them through. They may also have hopes that Williams will continue to improve. Offensive weapon, we picked up Fournette. He had 523 receiving yards and 73 receptions on 83 targets last season, of which 563 were YAC (nope not a typo)
