  1. If the Bills were hoping that Sherfield or Harty could replicate what they did with Brown or with Beasley, that hope was badly misplaced. Sherfield was a 5 year vet career STer who put up decent numbers for 1 year with Miami, playing behind one of the best 1-2 punches at WR in the league. Harty had one decent year with NO in 2021 but has struggled career long with hammy and foot injuries, missing almost all of 2022. Brown put up 4 seasons that were better than Sherfield's single best season, including a 1000+ yd season as a #2 Beasley was a legit slot contributor for 7 years in Dallas. I think Beane was hoping Sherfield would replace Kumerow on ST but be better able to play WR (that's probably true - but a fairly low bar) I think Beane hoped Harty would replace McKenzie as the "gadget guy", #4-5 WR but have a more complete route tree and better ball tracking skills/focus and also be able to return punts and kicks if needed. He has been our punt returner since Nyheim Hines went on NFI, so that worked out, but he's not been able to replicate McKenzie. I think this is a fair point, and the gram of truth behind some of the kvetching "he only cares about defense" Ty Dunne published. Someone at Buffalo Rumblings - I think "Skarekrow"? did a thing last year (I think) showing that while overall, the number of draft picks and cap expenditure were fairly equal offense/defense, when you look under the hood in terms of FA signings and draft picks, Beane has tended to use more high draft picks for defense and used offensive FA $$ to sign more lower-tier guys instead of a few serious contributors. I'll be damned, you're right, Peterman did do trick shot videos as well. Huh. Tanney's were cooler though.
  2. I think you're confusing Peterman with Alex Tanney.
  3. Dude, Just Stop. It's not the same injury, and it's not just Twitter and "some no name".
  4. I Know, Right? Except most of his "inside information" was publicly available since Week 6. If Josh actually needed surgery and had a condition the Bills thought would be worsened by continuing to play, I do not think the Bills would keep putting him out there. If anyone questions the "week 6" thing, here' s a link to Banged Up Bills Week 6 Injury Review. https://bangedupbills.com/2023/10/17/buffalo-bills-vs-new-york-giants-week-6-injury-review/ So there we have it. Allen suffered an AC Joint sprain Week 6 vs the Giants. It is evidently Grade 2 (since it's lingered more than Grade 1) but not Grade 3 (since no surgery). The Bills duly put Allen on the Injury Report and he has "DNP" a couple times early in the week. Trimble also has a diagram of what a normal shoulder, and 3 different grades of sprain in the shoulder, look like if anyone wants to see.
  5. Thanks for the gouge on Caggiano. As far as "theorized" though, is that really the appropriate word, when in fact Allen acknowledged a shoulder injury after the Giants game and has appeared on the injury list with a "right shoulder" injury every game since up until last week? That's not theoretical... OTOH if we want to theorize, I would guess that one reason behind the "hardly threw at all" Cowboys game and the lower passing totals games since is that when Josh threw 51 times against the Eagles and 42 against KC, he may have aggravated something in his shoulder. He was still passing pretty well after the injury, and his completion percentage has dropped into the 50 %s the last 4 games. I'd love to hear someone who is good at assessing throwing motion comment, but my guess is he's reverted to a more overhead motion After brief search, Allen found on every injury report since week 7 with...wait for it..."RIGHT SHOULDER". He was not on the report last week. Possibly he participated in full in practice and wasn't seeking extra treatment. Possibly that was a mistake.
  6. I can't argue that. I expect after that game, Beane started burning up the phone lines to bring in new cavalry on defense. He didn't burn a 3rd round draft pick to trade for Rasul Douglas and sign Linval Joseph just for giggles
  7. Tua is leading the league in passing yards while being 8th in attempts. On a per-game basis he was 12th last year. Yes, they're going to re-sign him and he's going to get paid.
  8. Dude, if you want to try to take the position that Bailey Zappe "outplayed" Josh Allen, I'm just gonna sit here with the 🍿. That's not a discussion I even want to try to get into, other than the necessarily apology I already made to people I pooh-poohed when they told us that was happening. It may be a mystery to you, but others have pointed out that not only were we missing the defenders who were injured in the Jax game, we were missing Big Ed and still trying to start Dorian Williams for Milano. I don't think that's very mysterious.
  9. I think if we look at players who are asked to take pay cuts and agree there is usually leverage on the team’s side: 1) no or very low guaranteed money for the upcoming season 2) low or manageable dead money if the player were to be cut In Diggs case, his $18.5M 2024 salary guarantees in March 2024, and the Bills would accrue $31.9M dead cap if they cut him. So what would be Diggs motivation to listen to that?
  10. That was great. I especially like Lamar driving Harbaugh then Joe Flacco drives up behind them. And of course, the end 😄
  11. I mean seriously - if you don't want to read a long post, what on earth do you think you're accomplishing by announcing that to the world? How about this - if you don't want to read something, just...DON'T READ IT.
  12. I don't think Brady was ever a sho-in to get the OC job, but he did have a chance for a great audition, and so far the results are mixed.
  13. I think you might be giving overall W-L not home W-L
  14. 2018 L W W 2019 L L 2020 W W 2021 L W W 2022 W W W 2023 W W W-L 11-4 (if you want to exclude the 2019 Jets game 11-3) Next So you do know it gets cold in Buffalo prior to December, right? and that cold weather /winds affect other aspects of the game like WR catch rate etc.?
  15. There is if you want to make an argument that Allen and Diggs were doing great statistically until Dorsey got fired and Brady took over. The point is that the statistics fell off before the Dorsey/Brady swap
  16. Go look up the games between the Giants and Denver. It’s pretty hard to argue that there was a cliff after the Denver game
  17. I remember how this place acted when Beane went into the season saying "maybe the answer at LB is on our roster".
  18. Ah....Look at the 5 game stretch starting with the Giants and ending with NE. The Bills went 2-3 in that stretch, including 3 games where we failed to score more than the league average # of points. Allen threw <180 yds passing (twice), 2 INT (once). Now you might not want to lay that all at Dorsey's door - fact is, Allen injured his shoulder in the Giants game and was limited in practice with it for the next week (NWE), practiced in full before Tampa where he had a 300+ yd passing game, then actually DNP one day before Cincy, then had a low-yardage passing game vs Denver. As for Diggs, he had 100 yd passing game vs. the Giants, but then his productivity fell quite a bit 3 of the following 4 games, while Dorsey was still OC. Let's not pretend that Allen was having a great statistical stretch and Diggs was "on fire" until Brady took over. It's not the case.
  19. Dude, come on. He completed 15 of 30 and most people seem to think there were several scorable drops. So no, he was not "off target on most of his throws". Seriously? Outplayed by Bailey Zappe and his 3 INTs? GTFO. Where's @LanderPoke? I think he's the one I was questioning about if people were really saying that. I need to serve your receipts - I disbelieved, but you were right.
  20. With a little tweaking, that works "I just don't get it I know what a haiku is But what is the point?" ----------- It's Tradition, Bro. Meet Dolphins Week with Haiku This Board Expects It
  21. Squish the stinky fish My neighbor worked with dolphins She says they're just jerks** **seriously. worked with orcas, belugas, and dolphins as well as seals and sea lions. came in enthused, left having given away all dolphin jewelry.
  22. Funny that you mention "my sarcasm" when I either quoted or slightly paraphrased what you wrote. I would say your negativity did the screaming, I just opened the window to make it easily heard. I grant you didn't say our OC sucks, but I think that's a reasonable paraphrase of "his play calling and scheme seems to be faltering". You're probably going to dismiss this response as waffling, but I've been very consistent in this and folks who've forgotten more football than I've ever known can confirm - I am very up-front about saying that I can not judge things like WR separation, play calling and design, and even QB play from the televised broadcast. I don't have the deep football knowledge that can pick out stuff like what the defensive coverage is based on how the LB and nickel are positioned or even how they're standing pre-snap. I need all-22 and a detailed look at the offensive and defensive alignment pre-snap, the route combos being run, and so forth. Then I can start to see things like WR separation, how much time there was for the play to develop, whether there were open receivers who might have been a higher-percentage throw, and so forth and I start to be willing to have an opinion. I heard it said over and over here there were no open WR for Josh (under Dorsey) and when looking at the all-22 there were in fact short outlet receivers open and sometimes other receivers open. Then we have to look at the sequence - were they open at the point where Josh had to make a decision? or had he already rolled out of the pocket to the opposite side? Then stuff it's frankly beyond my level of football acumen (and apparently, beyond the level of former NFL QB like Warner and O'Sullivan) to know, like what was the sequence of reads? I have the impression that our OC, Brady, did make adjustments in the 2nd half that helped the passing game. I also have the impression that teams are playing a lot more man against us this season. This is a problem for two reasons: because teams were showing man but really playing half-and-half coverage, or showing man but then dropping into zone, I think the Bills made a tactical decision to not change plays but rather to incorporate a man-beater and a zone-beater into almost every play (I could be wrong here, this is just what I see). The problem with this is more than 1 guy has to be able to beat man coverage consistently. It works, so teams keep using it. As far as the Pats run D, you always got to take those rankings with a bit of a salt shaker and look at who did, and didn't, have rushing success against the Pats. The Jets, Colts, Giants, and Chargers ran all over NE - these aren't top rushing teams, though they're teams with a capable rush offense. The Bills put up 93 yds in our first game against them and 103 yds yesterday. They are 8th for Y/A and 9th for Y/G, and Josh is the #2 rusher - by a LOT. The Bills quietly seem to have a rushing offense this season. So no, it wasn't a big surprise to me, or I feel for people studying the game enough to have strong opinions. I agree with you that consistency has been a huge problem for the Bills this season. They have absolutely lost games they could have, and arguably should have, won. All of their losses have been 1-score games, and in (I think) 3 of them the Bills had the lead and the D couldn't get the needed stop. But the Bills were in that position because their offense wasn't clicking in several of those games. It's a fair point. The thing is, I believe most teams have their inconsistent moments and their moments of getting flat out whupped. The Ravens are red-hot right now, which can make it easy to overlook that they got stifled by the Colts and the lowly Steelers, and stymied by the Browns. The 12-4 49ers have been a juggernaught at times, but they had a 3 game skid involving losses to the "OK" Vikes and the somehow very-good Browns, then got whalloped by the Bengals and Ravens. "My eyes just don't see a SB team here". I don't know what to say to that. In 2021, the Bengals were 10-7 when they beat the Chiefs in the AFCCG after 13 seconds and then lost to the Rams - who if I recall correctly, had to sneak in through the WC route and had a decimated secondary where they literally called up a guy who was out of football for a year to play safety in that game and he wound up with the green dot calling the plays for the secondary even. In 2020, TB was 11-5 and Brady threw three (3) picks against GB in the AFCCG. I did NOT see a Superbowl team there....and yet.... My point is I apparently don't know what is or isn't a Superbowl team when I see it. A lot depends on who gets hot at the right time. First things first: Win and Get In. You really surprise me when you say you will be pumped during the game. I used (for my sins) to read the gameday threads assiduously and my impression is that you were consistently a "negative nancy" therein. Apologies if I missed one of your questions
  23. Wait, wat? That happened this season. It's one of the games that's the reason why we're playing for the Division and the #2 seed instead of talking about whether we'll rest our starters. In what way is the Eagles game, or the Jax game for that matter, not part of this? Just to be clear, though, I think you took my post as directed at you. When I said "some people" I literally meant it - I was framing a general response. There are most certainly issues. And I'll say it - Josh could be the problem. He's certainly been part of the problem when the dust settles and the game film has been dissected in detail.
