We may need that. Hopefully the team is asking everyone to spend Sat. night at a nearby hotel. I know the team has meetings, dinner, meetings, and chapel and puts most players up in a hotel, but I also know they've historically allowed a few of their stars to be home with their families either overnight or the following morning ('Zo Alexander was one). This would be a good night to say "everybody stay at the hotel, no exceptions". -

What's your food full of, or shouldn't I ask? I don't think the shovelers get free tickets now a days. They get paid $20/hr, which for overnight work 10 pm to 10 am might be $240 And access to a warming room/chow -

He said beer and "bear essentials". I was wondering if "bear essentials" were like "bear necessities" Also imagining that between a bear coat and bear feet, @rusty shackleford could be pretty snug at the game -

Pickett got knocked out of 3 games and Trubisky was totally ineffective in relief. So when Pickett's Week 13 injury sent him to IR, they benched Trubisky and went with Rudolph booping up a 3-2 record that put them in the playoffs and the best performance of the three of them. So when Pickett came off IR, Tomlin wasn't on the fence about staying with Rudolph. Yes, it's very handy if you get stuck in the snow and need a snack. Frozen cake still gives the yums. -

I dunno about now, but historically Von Miller has been very very good against the run, as opposed to someone like AJE who has become a talented pass rusher but (again, maybe this has changed) has been tenuous against the run. -

Yeah, I think it's notable that the only road closure so far is prohibiting double-trailers on the thruways. -

He really is. Gabe Davis understood it, knew it was a Pats thing at least. Nothing against the Steelers. -
If I was James Cook I'd be picking Shady's brain all week
Beck Water replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thing is, if it's true as someone said that Shady grew up playing ball on snowy fields in PA, Shady probably doesn't know what it is he does. It's second nature to him, so he just plays. -

To be fair to little Hyundais and the like, it's really the "cruising around" part that's the issue, not the Hyundai per se -
Fish FANS think it's unsafe to play in the cold....ironic?
Beck Water replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
It really is. One of our mechanics used to say "cold is a case of mind over matter. if you don't have a mind...it doesn't matter." LOL I was reading this fascinating book about WWII called "Night Witches". It's about the Soviet 588th Night Bomber Regiment during WW II. For those unfamiliar, this was an all-female regiment using, basically, cloth and wood biplanes that were converted to carry 2 bombs each. They staged just behind Soviet lines and would fly by ded reckoning (compass and time) over German lines, cut their engines and glide down (basically, undetectable because they couldn't be picked up on radar or heard), drop bombs, and fly back to base for a reload. Their all-women ground crews would re-arm the planes, working in bitter cold Soviet winters and sometimes needing to work without gloves in weather so cold skin would freeze to metal instantly. They would fly 8 to 18 missions a night. They were so feared, any Nazi pilot who shot one down was automatically awarded a medal. The more I read, the more it was "holy crap, what people can endure when they put their minds to it". Incredible story. -

I took it as "we can reasonably predict a band of heavy snow, but at this point the exact location of the heaviest band is unpredictable" -

The frozen locusts will have the same impact as frozen iguanas. They will pour down from the sky, lowering visibility and rendering footing challenging. During periods of heavy locust precipitation, the trajectory of the ball during a pass or kick may be affected. The helmet-wearing players on the field will not be impacted too much by the frozen locust fall, but coaches and players on the bench should consider protective headgear for the game. When did they move the Browns game to Detroit? Seems like it was relatively last minute. I don't think this game will be moved, though. -

WGRZ Channel 2 weatherman Pat Hammer My notes from the podcast: Today (Friday): quiet Tonight: sun goes down, "rain/snow combo platter", away from the lake 7 or 7:30 may snow, will warm up tonight/tomorrow and change to lake. Tomorrow (Saturday): windy day with snow showers, maybe 1-2" but high wind of 35-40 mph winds gusting 60-65 mph widespread across area Falls through OP, w to Rochester Tomorrow night: snow will focus and increase, "Lake Effect" process. Band will be there, but very challenging to predict actual location of heaviest band - S. Buffalo or OP? Sunday during tailgating: temperatures in upper teens, snow band either right overhead or just to the north, we won't know location for sure until band sets up. Sunday during game: could be replica of Colts snow game, could not. Chance of heavy snow during the game. Wind will be lighter, 20-30 mph with odd 40 mph gust from Southwest. "Wind will be a thing, but it's not going to be debilitating wind". "Best case": Snow band sets up over Buffalo, Orchard Park gets some snow but only 1-2" during the game. He talked to someone with the Bills this morning, and they are discussing where the players should stay Saturday night - in Buffalo, not in Cleveland. -
I assume this is from the McDermott segment on WGR? Douglas and Dodson "questionable". Guess we'll see Hamlin active at safety, and possibly AJ Klein - both for ST if nothing else.

I am an honest Beck. 🌊 I keep receipts, and when I'm shown wrong, I will "belly up" to the bar for my Crow Pie helping. You were right, I was wrong. FWIW, in his post-practice presser this week, Josh said he has had "bumps and bruises" through the season that affect his mechanics. He said he and "Coach Brady" started doing some individual drills again before last week's game and he felt his mechanics were improved. I think that's as close as we're going to get to Josh admitting "yes, I've been hurt and it's affected my throwing mechanics"

Exactly. It would be slightly analogous if the KC sideline was protected from the wind and had heat lamps for the spectators lining the rail at the edge of the field that provided some reflective heat to the players, and under-field heaters, while the Miami sideline was exposed to the wind and had packed snow and ice lining the rail and ground. From experience growing up in Buffalo and then winter camping in the Adirondacks and White Mountains (NH) ..... then moving to Missouri and dealing with Midwestern summers - the German saying "there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing" has truth to it when applied to cold weather. People can dress to be safe, if not comfortable, living in the Arctic. In theory it's possible to have cooling clothes for summer with cold packs and fans built in, but it's much more difficult especially when you have to wear protective gear like shoulder pads, kidney pads, thigh pads, and helmet.
