Are there any concerns about his blocking translating? I noticed he's a on the small side for a TE at 6'4" 247 lb.

The Cardinals tried to make him an off-ball linebacker and he was starting to look like a total bust, which is why they just used him as an undersized pass rush specialist (which is what he was in college) in their 3-4 defense. He's way too small to play DE in a 4-3, so the only way he'd be of much use to us is if we brought back the Zo role. I'd rather not spend a chunk of our limited cap space on someone who's gonna play less than half the snaps.

Gimme Lawson. He's been a good pass rusher since he stepped on an NFL field and was second in QB hits behind TJ Watt this year. Going to a defense than can actually cover and where he's not the only player who can rush the passer will help turn more of those hits into sacks. He's also solid against the run unlike Ngakoue, Hendrickson, and Okwara.

Beane said they thought a big reason Boettger made strides this year was they told him during the offseason to not worry about playing center and just focus on being a guard. I bet an offseason of working at LG instead of RT/RG could help Ford make even bigger strides. We're a pass first team and he was our best pass blocking guard last year.
