  1. 10M extra helps when you are 6M in the hole...Have to save 5M for the draft and 1.5M for the practice squad as well.

I am in cut mode on the DL - we spent the most of any team last season on DL FAs and did not get the payback

Star should return as well, should help the run D and improve Edmunds tackle rate - he and Milano had a lot of missed tackles,

so I cut Butler and Jefferson and have Addison take a pay cut as well as I cut Brown  at WR and Lee Smith.  Zimmer played decent as a backup and we also have Phillips so we got some vet depth already.

That gives us approx 25M of cap space; enough to sign Feliciano - Ford will play RT so I let Williams play the market and see if numbers work or not.

Well... I wouldn't pay him top dollar for a LB. Our LB corps was far from scary.

Can't blame the man for wanting to get paid. It's a short career and he knows how one injury at the wrong time could cost you tens of millions of dollars.

Use the $$ to re-sign Feliciano and maybe even Williams on the OL.

well Cody Ford comes back to the right side so I think he slides to RT so the RG is the open starter (I expect Ike B to be tendered brought back as well at LG).  Feliciano at RG is cheaper than a RT and he can slide to backup C - so the analysis is Ford versus Williams at RT...Wiliiams had 9 penalties and 7 sacks at RT last season.  PFF had Williams as the 40th best FA avail with Milano as the 37th FWIW

  3. PFF has Milano rated 37th and Williams as 40th rated free agents...

    So...

I suspect both will move onto greener pastures so Cody Ford shifts to RT and possibly resign Feliciano is the best I think we can do.  In that case I can argue that the starting line returns and the depth would be younger and maybe a vet on a one year deal.

Replacement LB is already on team with a second or third round pick to be spent here...I have us taking CB in first round opposite Trey as we dont have the cash to shopping for the vet we have done in the past.

Remember to factor the 30+M for an extension for Josh Allen into your free agent budget this year.  We never had to do that but then again never had a franchise qb worthy.

  4. CB - opposite Tre - past two years we did  some pricey FA shopping with Levi still  starting most games - an upgrade thru the draft while Levi is still around would be my first choice

    LB - likely Milano replacement

TE - want a big sized guy with decent hands - Kroft is gone Lee Smith likely cut to save 2.2M - and Josh can throw back-shoulder to the big body

OL-DL - depth picks in middle rounds

late rounds - special teams or project types per usual

no qbs or kickers this year

  5. add Lee Smith 2.2M to the list...Star L returns next season, I would expect the Bills to take a long look at him in camp and see if their is chemistry between him clogging a gap and Oliver being able to be freed up to penetrate more and make plays.

Stats show Bills pass rush bring the pressure but the older gents seem to a step slow getting to the qb so the hits, hurries and sacks arent really there

  6. I have him at the top of our list to replace Daboll as far as in house candidates.  If the org feels the same, to keep him we could assign the assistant coach designation to him which would keep him anything but an HC position ?

Of course external candidates are plentiful (daboll) but in-house experiences and time spent next season on campus (pending Daboll departure) would be a key factor as well I would think

    Thoughts ?

  7. colts had a solid game plan, they won 11 games regular season with a statue for a qb,

they pushed the gut run game and then attacked the edge well thanks to a good OL

The OL marginalized our pass rush as well

Their TEs have size as well as Pittman, those2 young RBs are going to be good for awhile

I would like the Bills to add a big TE with plus size like the Colts have,

In the end they beat themselves by not making an easy FG and going for it on 4th down and getting nothing.  those easy 6 points cost them a playoff road win against the #2 seed.

  8. the Tenn and KC games were the worst for flags as several were unsportsmanlike-frustration flags and the Denver game had several O-line flags in the 3rd and 4th quarters where we had points taken away...Josh was heard on a field mike saying..."so how many time we gotta score "?

I noticed Morse and Ike B (G) getting flagged grabbing DL jersey as Josh is about to pass that lineman; seems like a reaction to wanting to protect Josh who either would have escaped or ran by the linemen or at the worst been tacked near the LOS.

Then there is the dreaded hit on the qb foul where we seem to not pull-up or lunge at his legs trying to make a play/sack

And yes we have been one of the top teams for penalties during the McClappy era

  9. I like Dane Jackson as well for depth this season with Levi W still starting as the other CB, but really would like to draft a CB in the late first round (a la Tre) or second round with Levi still around for another season for depth at an affordable salary...then Cam and Dane can still fight for a roster or PS spot.

  10. thanks for sharing, these little pearls always make me stop and listen in esp when someone says something interesting or funny...such as its Hyde that comes over to talk to the coach during timeouts rather than Edmunds ?

I wish they would show some of the reactions when things dont go well, the questionable ref calls, the reaction when a pick or fumble happen and not just the happy-clappy plays

  11. post-game analysis:

the line opened holes for 175 rushing which is great; but Joey Bosa athleticism made the right-side look slow and bad all freaking game

Dawson Knox looks like a one- dimensional pass-catching TE with drops which seem to have improved simply cuz they dont throw to him much or any of our TEs period.

Have our safeties lost a jump-step I mean another hail mary gets answered and they looked flat-footed and slow

we have given up the most point in the NFL in the second-half !!!...that is not what playoff teams do.

All those turnovers in the second-half...that is not what playoff teams do.

Still being gouged for big runs !!! ..that is not what playoff teams do.

Another close win over a loosing team...sigh

SF, Pitts, NE (road) Miami at home for perhaps the division title...here we go..hoping for the best..expecting the worst

  12. compared to the other major sports, the NFL enshrines more candidates and this in on purpose and I am fine with the concept...however the flipside is that more members actually diminishes the concept of limiting it to greatness and thus includes the very good...my pocket argument is that both Steelers WRs from their super bowl era are in: Swann and Stallworth...really do both players playing the same position on the same team belong ?  Which one was better ?  Hard to say because they were both great, or was one great and the other very good, or were they both very good and they got the advantage of the super bowl hype and rings ?
