My problem with Huff, and the 8 slot.
FTW_BillsFan replied to makbeer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you truely believe that Huff will be a Safety instead of a DB, then there is no way you take him at #8. Hopefully, we will trade down, but if not you take the best available at the time. And it sure as hell better not be him. I like trading down w/ Minn or getting Denver's picks. The only players that you take from the University of Texas is RB's. All the rest suck. Prime Example: Mike Williams. They all smoke the peyote down there in Austin. : ) -
I bet almost that whole team is on the gonja train.

Does anyone have a link to the CBA and/or
FTW_BillsFan replied to FTW_BillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bump. Has anyone seen this in cyberspace yet? -
I also really like what Buffalo has done so far. It looks like we are signing players that will let up go for the best available at #8. Hopefully, we can trade down and get more picks.

Don't draft Huff. Have we not learned that the only position that you draft from the University of Texas is Running back. All the rest are fodder. Example: Mike Williams.

Jerry on the upcoming vote

All J.Jones cares about it leaching as much $$$ out of the league as possible. -
JDG, It sounds like you have a little experience on the athlete side of the equation. Although, it might be a little unfeeling of me to say, but if a player makes the NFL they are making a minimum of 300k per year. Right? It takes me a LONG time to make that much... so I have no pity for a person that cannot manage their money, even if it is the league minimum. The amount of money they earn is not where near what a normal person makes, so if they choose to sqander it that is their problem. Yes, they do invest alot of time and energy into being a player, but that's the part of being an athlete. Just like anyone else invested in their degree in college or the time they invest at work to move up the corporate ladder. How about the owner that spends 15 hour days keeping his company going? Everyone has an investment and the owners have 'earned' the right of not having such a risky investment because they monetarily invested the most into the NFL. This has been an interesting debate. Even with the huge deals the NFL has with TV, radio, stadium naming rights, etc... if a holdout or lockout takes place, after the 2007 season, then all bets are off because there is always another contract to negotiate down the line. And not just with the players, but with TV, radio, etc.... and if you have any work stoppage, it will damage the sport and ultimately the bottom line. I don't know about everyone else, but I really start to resent leagues when they have holdouts. I used to be a BIG NBA fan, but when they had the strike back in the 90's I stopped watching. I still don't watch except towards the end of the playoffs (and that took me a long time to start doing that). IMO, this is why college football is so popular. You don't have all the union strife and having to worry about work stoppages. If the NFLPA is smart, they will get what they can at this stage of the game and move on. Labor peace is good for all involved for the NFL to keep the cap going up and up. Finally, what would you rather have? 1) 56% of 10 Billion or... 2) 62% of 5 Billion ? (After a labor strike and total revenues go down?) Don't think that could happen? Look at the NHL...

Why wouldnt the players take the CBA at 54%?
FTW_BillsFan replied to BuffLord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why wouldnt the players take the CBA at 54%? Cause they are greedy little munchkins. -
The best thing for the Bills is for Ralph to dig in and get as much money shared by the owners. The disparity between teams is what is pushing this, not the % to the players. This is what makes the NFL special. If they don't play on a level playing field, it will turn into baseball. The only major difference is that players don't last as long in football and 6 years could really be someone's whole career.

Redskins could be in big trouble
FTW_BillsFan replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The redskins remind me of the bills in their hayday at the beginning of the salary. DSnyder has been robbing from the future for present gains. Well the future has caught up with him, ala Buffalo, SanFran, etc... A new CBA will help them dramatically to keep what they have, but once that new CBA comes in effect and the cap goes up to 100+ a year, what do you think that a Top RB, CB or WR will want per year.....alot more jack than before. It's all relative. You are just going to have to spend more for the top talent 10Mil+ per year. -
Is Bledsoe still out there? He'll be good for about 6 weeks.. What about Brandon Jacobs? Anyone pick him up?

Sabres to Bills: Your percentage interest
FTW_BillsFan replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interested in both and hope both win, but the Bills in a landslide. 100% Bills in preseason thru postseason, 85% sabres rest of time except for when the NFL draft rolls around. : ) -
Forget about pictures of the bills. Take pictures of the hot chicks watching practice.
-
Oh no. I'm in Dallas country and they think he is the 2nd coming of the savior. I keep telling them this is what's going to happen: Bledsoe back, he's looking, looking, looking, oh hit by the DE, fumbles the ball, recovered by the defense. But they don't want to listen.
-
No way. If Dallas makes the playoffs then I owe a friend of mine 5 bucks. I hope someone plants Bledsoe's ass Week 1. I want to see Dallas play Romo or Henson all year. (They would actually pick Vinnie back up)

As Teddy KGB said on Rounders...
FTW_BillsFan replied to FTW_BillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It goes hand-in-hand. If you have good CBs, you can send more ppl on the blitz and put more pressure on the QB, ie. less time for the QB. Clements is as important to the D as Spikes is. -

With a shut down corner on one side you can pack more defenders or slide the defense to the other side. I'm sure that helps McGee and makes him a better player. Also, knowing your shutdown corner can play on an island will open up another player to blitz with. Would you be comfortable with McGee as the #1 CB? -

Isn't next year an uncapped year if a new CBA is not signed in time? It is already known that the cap will include all monies the NFL generates so the cap will go up quite a bit. Pay now or pay later. Salaries are going to go up because all these teams will have excess cap room and owners like Snyder and Jones will overpay to get players. We need to take the chance on NC, IMO, because if we wait until next year the price will go way up. I guess we could just keep franchising him for 2-3 years. : ) -
1) Admiration for holding the ball a long time? What a bunch of morons. 2) He went through to his 4th progression and there was no one open? Against the cardinals? Either a) bledsoe sucks b) cowboys receivers suck or c) All of the above. 3) Bledslow can run under 5.0?
-
With the new CBA that will be signed sooner or later, the price tag on Clements will not be that bad considering the cap is going to skyrocket up to around 90-95 w/ the new CBA. Pay him the money and then we can have a shut down corner that will be the cornerstone of the defense for the next 5-6 years. Comments?

Which is harder to come back from a turf toe or a hurt pinky? Jennings and now TH nursing injuries. TD's looking pretty good here.
-
HA, HA, HA, HA. It's too bad we didn't resign this guy. We could really use him on the bench.
