  1. I agree they are all overpaid, but we go and buy the $75 dollar tickets, $15 parking, $6 hotdogs and $6 beers to go and see the games. If we stopped going to the game until the prices became more reasonable it would all level itself out. Question: Did anyone have Sabres season tickets? How much did they cost and did that include parking?
  2. In the NFL the cap is based on a percentage of the revenues, somewhere in the 50's I would guess. What if the league said, "Ya know we had a really good year and normally if we used the revenue % the cap would go up to 90mil, but the CBA has a max. the cap can be and it's 82 mil. So next year it's 82 mil. Thanks for the extra dough players." The players would feel slighted because they put a good product on the field and are not getting their cut of the profits. I think that's how the NHL players feel about what the owners are putting out there. All they want is their fair share of the pie. If revenues go up, then want more. If revenue goes down then need to take less.
  3. I can see why the players won't sign up to the cap that the owners are trying to create. In essence a double cap that will limit how much the cap could go up. I've been in the owners corner the whole time during this lockout, but this is total crap. If the league is doing well, then the league should pay the players. Also, why have a min of 32 and a max cap of 42. I like having a minimum salary, but 32? That's a little high. It should be somewhere in the low 20's. I think the players would accept a cap if it was a honest cap, not this capping players salaries at 42mil even if the league is doing really well. They also need to get rid of guaranteed contracts. 4. Ok, I see what you are saying, but what kind of money would Surtain want and woulld that # be reasonable with his age? I guess we could go and explore that option if he is willing to sign a 3-4 yr deal w/ the trade at a reasonable price. Although, I would think trying to keep Clements at a fair market value would one of our top priorities. Also, I would bet that Ty Law will be available in the upcoming FA. Maybe we could try and sign him...
  5. Hell, we were dumb enough to give a 1st for Bledsoe, why not TB too, plus they get a discount on Henry.
  6. Let's package Bledsoe and Henry together and send them to TB for a 1st and 3rd? Who's for that? : )
  7. Surtain is in the last year of his contract. Why trade Henry for Surtain, what will we really gain? We want to get a draft pick or someone that will be in Buffalo for years for Henry (at not too high a cost). Also, if you get Surtain, we will then have 2 DBs in FA after next year. Resign NClements, let Surtain go, get pick(s) for Henry. Draft a couple of DBs (and OL and Nugent) in the draft for future depth.
  8. Rudy T left Houston because he had cancer and needed time away from the game. I think he is leaving the Lakers because they suck and he knows that Kobe sucks too.
  9. If you could get up into the 15-20 range it might be worth it, but I don't think you do that unless you think an impact player will be there to immediately help the team. That's too far up to take Nugent. You could probably get JJ's replacement there or you might get him in the 2nd round also. What/who would be there at 15-20 that we couldn't get someone comparable in the 2nd round?
  10. Realistically, with trading 2 2nd's for a 1st we would only get into the bottom of the 1st round, which IMO is not worth the 2 2nd rounders. We need Nugent with one of those picks.
  11. I think we are at the doorstep of the playoffs and potential SB team. Should we expect Losman to get us to the SB in year 1 of him being a starter? Kinda unrealistic, we should be pointing to 2006 for SB. But to get ready for that: 1) Need to Trade Bledsoe/Henry and get picks. 2) Get new Kicker (Nugent to FA), Lindell sucks. 3) Sign Phat Pat (Key to D). 4) Plan for Clements resign. 5) Let JJ go or franchise/trade him. He is not worth the money. 6) Draft K, 2 OL, RB, CBs. Bring in FA DTs, DLs, and OL. 7) Stay cheap in FA. Don't need superstars just value based players. The whole team needs to be good, not just a few positions. Get a WR (Rice?), cheap OL, K(if don't get Nugent).
  12. I'm a KSU grad and have watched his whole career, so I'm a little biased. Sproles IS a Barry Sanders type of runner. He has so many moves it's not funny and he has great acceleration and physically strong. Also, his shortness in stature is good because when the line is blocking it is very hard to see him when he comes through the line. He is very shifty, makes ppl miss and can cut on a dime, he has it all. The reason for a somewhat average performance this year was the OLine was very young/inexperienced. I cannot tell you how many times a defender was ready to tackle Sproles when he got the ball from the QB. It wasn't Sproles' fault. Whichever team that gets Sproles will have a true playmaker. He can also return kicks/punts. I was expecting him to go 2nd day, but with the Senior bowl, he might go late 1st day/early 2nd day. I would project 3-4th rounder on him. I would take Sproles over Shaud Williams any day.
  13. If we can get Sproles in the 2nd day of the draft he will be a steal.
  14. How in the world is Philly that far under the cap w/ McNabb, TO, and Kearse along with others? Any Minn. 30 MIL under the cap? Is there some cap trick they are using that we need to tell TD? Ty Law is history at NE. They found out they can win without him and they will cut him off.
  15. Why, I do have lint in my belly button!
  16. 8 mil under the cap is a good start. This will let us resign Phat Pat and the restructure or Moulds should get us to around 11 mil. What is the cap hit/help if we trade Bledsoe or Henry? What FA's do we need? I think we could start shoring up positions through the draft, especially K (nugent).
  17. I always hate hearing this argument. Yes, increasing your strength doesn't help with eye-hand coordination, BUT it does turn that weak grounder into a "seeing eye" single or will make a flyball carry that much more and become a HR (bonds). All these guys already have eye-hand coordination or they wouldn't be playing in the majors. Who knows if Beltran was juiced last year. He probably was considering how much better his numbers got, but if I was in their place I probabaly would have done the exact same thing. Wasn't it everyone's dream to play 1st base for the Yankees? Also, Beltran is not worth that much money. Hopefully the Mets have some outs in the contract if he gets hurt and can't play.
  18. So, if Nugent is consistantly kicking the ball into the end zone in college (5 yards in) then he will kick it to the goal line. That's about 10-15 yards better than what Lindell can do. Over the course of the season this yardage difference will give the defense and offense better field position. Instead of the other team starting at the 25-35+ most of the time, they will start at the 15-25. That's huge.
  19. I would also put CB before TE. We need to keep getting speed in here. K, CB, OL, RB (assume Henry gone), journeyman QB (Trade bledsoe)
  20. Of course, there is only one real drawback to this 'bluff'. If you franchise him, he can always accept the one year offer and we would be screwed.
  21. Kickoffs in college are kicked from the 35 and in the NFL it's the 30. Is that right?
  22. Maybe TD could trade up to the beginning of the 3rd round and get nugent. That way we get our 2nd and lose our 3rd and maybe a 5th?
  23. What is the 2005 cap number going to be and what is our current cap number for 2005? TIA
  24. If the Giants are giving indicators they want Jennings, then maybe we should tag is ass and get a pick out of it...
