  1. Since this is a weak draft, maybe we would trade up and get the first pick for TH and a throw in pick... Then trade back down into the mid round and start stockpiling picks. That would be awesome.
  2. I still think the best player for us would be Nugent... This would solidify our Special teams for many, many years. If nug isn't on the board, then Baas or other offensive lineman not listed would be my next choice. Pick up WR from Hampton?, clocked an under 4.3 40 at combine and Sproles for backup to McGahee.
  3. Are you sure it's not a 2hr show on illegal aliens?
  4. We didn't have to get rid of Bledsoe. So what if he's pissed riding the pine behind Losman. We could have kept his contract and him on the team. The 1mil bonus for March 2 was already on the cap right? Oh well, other than that I think Bledsoe has been good for Buffalo. He took us as far as he could go and now it's JP's turn to get us to the promise land.
  5. Can either Franks or Pollard block? That's what I would be looking for first is a TE that is an above average blocker to help out McGahee. I think we can get a guy that is mostly a blocker pretty cheap ~1Mil instead of breaking the bank for Pollard or Franks. We have other areas that we can spend the money on.
  6. I'm more irritated that we didn't get any compensation for Bledsoe from the Cowboys. It took him less than a day to sign with them, so there had to be some demand for him. Hell, I would have taken a 3rd round pick for him. Could we get a compensatory pick from the NFL for Bledsoe?
  7. Has the captain been in contact w/ anymore Nigerian scammers?
  8. Oh, I would assume they were using this to ship items to other ppl/locations into the us and making you pay for it, on top of taking your 8500. I wonder what would be in the crate? Rocks?
  9. Where is Captain McGillicuddy and his crew at? I bust a gut every time I read these stories. Any more good stories about this out there? Ask the shipper/carrier where the package is going to be shipped to? You are paying the 8K, they should be able to tell you that.
  10. I think Bledsoe will see that there is no job for him and come back as the backup. Right now, except for Dallas, no one wants him.
  11. Welcome Villa, 1) Agree. LJ would be a good addition. 2) An upgrade at LG would be good, but it definitely has to be at the right price. Cheap, or go draft route. Actually, need to get some OL prospects in this draft for depth. 3) Yes, Lindell out. Nugent all the way. : ) Nugent has kicked many, many clutch kicks that would win/lose ballgames for OhioSt. He will be ready. Also, that kick missed by Kaeding was all Schottenheimer's fault. Kicking a 45 yd field goal on a wet field was just stupid. He should have gotten the ball closer and made the kick easier. 4) I think J. Fielder would be a good backup. Note: I think most of the offensive woes came directly from Bledsoe. Hopefully, JP can fix alot of those problems w/ his mobility and better judgement. All the tools are already there on the O. IMO, we really need to sign Phat Pat. He is the heart and anchor for that D. If we lose him, the D will really suffer for it. Whenever we have dominating D's, we have always had a great (or 2) DT in there to plug up the middle and PW is no exception. He will give us a hometown discount and I think we should take it. Good 1st Post.
  12. Joe, I thought you were being sarcastic on the whole McKellar thing.....almost like the 2nd coming of Lonnie Johnson. Metzallar was the best.
  13. Oh, ok. I must have misread some of the articles about LJ. I thought he was the LT, was demoted and then put back to LT because LD was cutting it there. Actually, Anthony Clement is listed on the depth chart at RT and LD at LT, with LJ the back up for RT, so I guess you are right.
  14. The chocolate mint ones - Thin Mints I think... They good. : )
  15. Another good buffalo dismissal and best line in the update above... Ruben Brown, Chicago His 2005 salary ($1.265 million) is acceptable, but he has lived on reputation the last few years and the Bears probably want to get younger on the offensive line.
  16. Was there a big signing bonus then? I thought I remembered the reasoning why Cinc didn't choose to sign was the cap hit or a big signing bonus that would have crippled Cinc chances to sign others. If not, sorry. Either way, you have to put something into the contract to become a 'poison pill' that GB doesn't want to swallow to get BF away from GB.
  17. I really don't know if LJ is better than/as good as JJ. BUT I do think that LJ is at least a serviceable LT. LJ started 12 games last year, with DGreen hating him. IF DG had the chance LJ would have sat the bench, but obviously LJ is better than Leonard Davis or Davis would have been starting at LT. I would be more scared getting LD then LJ. Also, if this is true, why are we letting JJ go? I don't think that TD would let JJ go without at least a plan to replace JJ w/ someone comparable.
  18. Yea, but we had to 'break the bank' to get Spikes from Cinc. We really frontloaded the contract to make the deal bad for Cinc and let him go. We would have to do the same for BFranks. If we just gave him a normal TE contract, GB would then just sign him to it. The contract would have to be a blockbuster for GB not to match. Is BFranks worth it? Doubtful.
  19. If we already have the trade for Shelton/Henry trade worked out, then I say let's Franchise JJ and try to get any kind of draft pick out of him. JJ will get paid this offseason by some other team and hopefully we will trade him to them. BUT to do this we need to communicate to Phat Pat that we want him to remain a Bill, but let us ship off JJ and then we can get Pat under contract. That way we have flexiblity to sign other players (TE) if needed and get a draft pick out of it.
  20. Clump (or plate)? : ), I'm not sure we would really want to 'backload' LJ's contract any more than what it already is. 3M/yr for a LT is pretty good, plus we take a little hit this year, but makes him more attractive for the next 3 after that. Wouldn't his cap number go up to ~3.75M each yr w/ this restructure?
  21. Damn, that's rough. 17.9Mil is alot of money.... Can I get 1/5 rings and 12Mil?
  22. I never understand this arugment for NFL vs NHL. Yes, the NFL has a sweet deal with TV because it is America's sport, but that doesn't mean the way the NFL structures their salary cap wouldn't work for the NHL. Also, the NFL only plays 8 home games a yr, while the NHL gets around 40 home games a year. That's a big difference, plus the NHL tickets are very high priced ~50-100+ per game. So where the NFL gets the money one way, the NHL gets it another. So, I don't see how the NFL's model wouldn't work for the NHL. Plus, an added bonus for the NHL, most rookies do not go straight into the league, so the big money that the top NFL rookies get would/should not transfer over to the NHL. And that would leave you more money to pay the veterans. Also, guaranteed contracts are awful. Look how they work in the MLB and NBA. Players only care about their 'contract year'. Look at Beltre last year, finally hit over 25 HRs in a season and inked a sweet deal. Guaranteed contracts breed mediocraty except in contract years. Just think how many millions of dollars have been 'wasted' by teams for mediocre basketball players (don't keep up w/ bb anymore) and baseball players (Kevin Brown, HoChan Park, Albert Belle....). NHL: Salary cap linked to 55% of gross revenues. No guaranteed contracts.
  23. I totally agree w/ Hard cap and revenue sharing. Also, the contracts should not be guaranteed. They need to be able to cut players if need be.
  24. Go owners. F the players. Get the salaries linked back to revenue. BUT when this is all said and done the owners need to be 'nice' to the players and don't short change them on the books. An olive branch if you will.
