I was shocked and surprised by this pick. With Leinart / Cutler / Bunkley / Ngata still on the board you decide to go with the 2nd Safety in the draft? I'm just perplexed by this pick. Trade down to 15 and get the extra picks... Even if Whit wouldn't have been there, this draft was DEEP in safeties. So why 'waste' the 8th pick on him? Personally, weak arm or not, 1) I can't believe that Leinart dropped and 2) I can't believe we didn't pick him. Oh, well I guess. At least we didn't waste any more picks trading up into the 1st round and taking a player that was graded middle second.

I'm sorry, but the more I think about it IF we are worried about Losman not having it, why not draft Leinart? The man is a winner and the best QB prospect in this draft IMO. Let them battle it out and whoever loses is shipped out Erie style.

I totally agree w/ you. That's why I have always been in the Ngata/D'Brick/Bunkley camp and the anti Huff camp. Although, I would really love to trade down and still get Bunk.

You wouldn't take Leinart if he was there at 8? He would be very tempting... also he would be very good trade bait at #8...

All my stupid reply was saying is that D'Brick isn't necessarily a lock. We thought Mike Williams was the shiznit, but he couldn't even handle being a guard in our offensive line. I would hate to trade up to get him....now, if he happens to fall to #8, then I would take him.

Wow! Let's put the absolutely certain HOF player D'Brick @ LT w/ our all world pick from a couple of years go (can't miss), RT Mike Williams. Now, we have some protection, er... Mikey, where are you? Oh, I guess he wasn't as sure a bet as we thought. Now, if D'Brick fell to us at #8 I would be thrilled. What we really want to see if one of 2 scenario's. 1) All 3 QBs taken early and a prime player will fall to #8, ie. D'Brick or 2) only 1 or 2 QBs are taken early. This would leave Cutler and possibly Young out there at our pick. Perfect trade bait at #8 and the price will go up for our pick. Also, with all of these picks this year, IMO we should also be looking to next year by looking for 2007 draft picks for some of our 2006 picks, IMO.

Circle, First off, they all threw themselves under the bus by dragging their feet with revenue sharing. The owners couldn't/wouldn't agree on the new CBA until the revenue sharing issue was resolved (now we know it's still not resolved). So, they waited until the last second, agree to whatever they agree to in their meeting for revenue sharing and then agreed on the CBA. They all basically F'ed themselves, which was my point on that. I really don't care how they implement it, but the playing field needs to be level and everyone can compete if the NFL wants to stay on top of the US sports landscape. With this new revenue sharing plan, the landscape will be highly tilted to the high revenue owners.
