  1. Was just typing the same thing - the Singletary drop changed the game, IMO. That goes for a big gain and you've instilled confidence in the offense and given the defense more than one dimension to think about. Score points on that drive and the game looks completely different.
  2. You gotta give credit to Daboll for owning this and vowing to do better, and what that says/means to his players. Continuity will help this team a lot next year, and I'm glad he'll be back. Let's not take too much for granted here, we've had 20+ years of futility at the OC spot, so much of it of the run, run, sack/incomplete, punt variety. Daboll didn't give up a TD on nearly every single KC drive (though more time of possession for us would have definitely helped the D).
  3. Work hard with smart people in genetics and see if we can clone or recreate Thurman Thomas. Seriously, I think this system needs a back who is a true threat in the screen and short passing game to explode with YAC. Bring the defenses up to think about that more and that opens up more for our downfield receivers. The thing about Thurman was he phenomenal at catching but also had to be respected as a straight backfield runner. Where do we find one of these?
  4. Yes - a great trajectory, let's keep it going. Let's add to Year 3 - put up top-tier, pro-level QB numbers that we haven't seen for... 20 years? Those numbers weren't there in year 1 and 2, even as he showed flashes and improvement. The wins are important (ok, they are everything), but it's very comforting to know they are built on solid QB talent, not like some of the smoke and mirror wins we were getting once in a while in the drought years.
  5. The eight points left on the table would have made a huge difference in the fourth quarter. More importantly, I think calls to go for it would have made a big difference in the energy and approach of the team. You gotta play to win at this level.
  6. Having as much trouble as anyone passing the time today (still 6+ hours to go!!!). But, I'm thinking about all the things I'm NOT doing, that would usually be happening on this day. - I'm not trying to figure out which team left in the hunt I dislike the least and will thus kind of half-heartedly root for - I'm not having to root against the Pats - I'm not thinking about mock drafts - I'm not wishing/wondering for another head coach Today is a great day in many ways!!
  7. What is up with the text descriptions on that site?
  8. Allen is now tied for 2nd all time in franchise playoff wins as a QB (tied with Reich and Kemp). McDermott also tied with Saban for 2nd all time in franchise playoff wins as a coach. Sadly, these lists of playoff wins for the Bills outside of the 90s are very short. Great to see this group finally changing that narrative.
  9. Would it be good for this team to feel a little overmatched going in? The underdog mentality seemed to work well late in the season, with all the "tough" games at the end that they won going away. Seemed like the Bills played with something to prove. Hoping that the closeness of the Colts game, along with all the talk about how Balt can run all over us, will light some fires this week.
  10. I'll add to the evidence here. This happened to me last year almost exactly as Mike and others have described. Very frustrating, and led to me canceling this year. Bought the college ticket through our oldest son and added GamePass for 1/2 price as part of the deal. I was mostly happy with DTV over the years but it does feel GREAT to be rid of all the extra fees they charge. Hope the system changes soon.
  11. I'm feeling the same way. There's also a lot of talk about the loss being "Billsy" and/or the "same old Bills." There were some very Billsy moments to be sure, but two things about the game and one about the last stretch of the season stand out as being non-Billsy and help me feel that the team is headed in the right direction. 1) The D did a tremendous job on the 4th down stop just at the end of regulation. Huge gut-check moment there to get us the ball back. 2) Coming back to tie the game at 19 after the blow-up sacks on the previous series. Everyone thought the game was over, and the Bills had been on the ropes doing nothing for almost the entire half. I'm really impressed that they got up off the mat, fought back to FG position, and made the kick. That in itself was very "non-Billsy" 3) Stepping up in the late part of the schedule, taking care of Miami and Denver, and then the two primetime wins at Dallas and Pittsburgh. It has literally been decades since a Bills team has come through when needed in the later part of the season. Add to that the way they played on the road this year, and the fact that there were no blowout losses. I hope they can build on these elements and grow forward from here...
  12. Just made the call (been doing this for 19 years). Took about 20 minutes and I got 40/month for 12 months, free Showtime for 4 months, and free Sports Pack for 6 months. No ST discounts or offers. Was definitely looking for more, but could not get the person to put me through to "loyalty" or "retention" -- she claimed she escalated my request as high as she could while I was on hold. I didn't play the cancel card, and maybe I should have. I usually do that but I've heard more stories lately that say they just let you go through with it, and I didn't want to deal with all of that. She did encourage me to call back later to look for additional discounts, so I guess I'll do that. Bottom line is it is definitely not what it used to be with the reps... Was particularly annoying to listen to her read some of the same scripted paragraphs several times in response to my questions. Will take this discount for now, and call back in a week. I have a feeling this may be my last year on this merry go-round...
  13. Just made my annual call. Got a good deal, but there was a different twist. I've got DTV, internet, and home phone all through AT&T. In June the phone bill jumped up 20 bucks a month when a promo rate cycled off. I called to cancel it and they said they couldn't do anything about the phone rate, but they gave me $40/month off the TV bill. Ok, fine..., but I wondered if that would hurt me when it came time to haggle about the ticket. Called today to say I didn't want to pay full price for Sunday Ticket. First offer was adding MAX for free, I said we need to do better. Next offer, 12.25/mo discount on the ST. OK, but we still need to do better. Came back saying they can't do any more with my TV bill, but they can take $50/month off my internet and phone for 12 months. They kept the Max for free and the 12.25 off a month. So, I'm paying $220 for the ticket and getting a $600 credit. Crazy how they're moving the discounts around like a shell game, but I won't complain. Sounds to me like they have bottom line targets for the entire bill. Pleasant, 10 minute conversation, all I said was I'm a 20-year customer and my team is terrible this year (both true). We've got a new internet provider in the neighborhood, and I didn't even have to play that card. For the last few years I've always made the call on a Friday -- I have no idea if there's any basis in reality for this, but I always figure the reps must be in better moods on a Friday.
  14. More than half (16/31) of the current NFL stadiums did not exist.
  15. I've been on this board a LONG time; I'm a reader, not a poster. But, I thought I'd add my perspective from Atlanta today. - The Bills Backers of Atlanta tailgate was great. Good pizza and wings; it completely took over a little chunk of downtown. - Bills fans were out in force. Presence was noticeable everywhere, and I had a few Falcon fans make comments (complimentary) about the volume of Bills fans. You could hear their noise on the big plays in the fourth quarter. - MB stadium is a commanding sight as you walk up; the lines and angles are all very cool. Sightlines were great and concession prices are awesome ($2 hot dogs, $2 sodas with unlimited refills, $5 burgers and 12 oz beers). That said, it definitely feels corporate and antiseptic compared to the Ralph and places like Arrowhead. - As others have noted, there were a ton of people dressed as empty red seats. The whole lower bowl between the 30's behind the Bills bench was maybe 1/3 full at best throughout the game. That just seems crazy in a new, beautiful stadium with the reigning NFC champs. - All the Falcon fans in my section thought the Ryan "fumble" was a horrible call, and I get that. But, they all thought the Hyde interception was good and would hold up. The replays were very clear on the big HD video screens, and you could see his hands firmly on the ball before it touched the ground. - The Falcon fans I encountered were all very welcoming, respectful, and classy. They struck up many conversations, and many of them offered congratulations after the game. - It seemed like 99 out of 100 Falcon fans were wearing Julio Jones jerseys. It took me a while to realize that one fan wearing a #11 Jones (white) was a Bills fan! - I'll admit I was expecting us to get beat down. At halftime, I was just glad it was a close game. It wasn't the prettiest win, but it was awfully sweet to pull this one out!!
