I would put Rodgers closer to 20 considering the offensive weapons he had and an offensive line that was playing pretty well once they put Olu Fashanu in. He was basically Trent Edwards with occasional flashes. However I agree that he is better than what the Steelers had and that he looked better at the end of the season.
-
Good cummulative stats makes it appear he had a good season; Rodgers was #7 in yards (Allen was #14) and #7 in TDs (tie with Allen) but dig a little deeper and you realize it was simply because he threw the ball so much. The fact that he was #30 in yards per attempt (Allen was #9) shows he had a mediocre season at best.

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure they said the same thing about Saleh when he was hired. There are reports out of New York that Glenn wants to keep Rodgers but I can't imagine any OC candidate would want that. If you have Rodgers you essentially have to run Rodgers' system. The Jets had 5% fewer runs than the next lowest team this season. I can't believe it is because the OC refused to call running plays. Even if you try to run your system Rodgers will just audible out of it.

Spagnuolo was interviewed by the New York Jets. He is one of the 17 on their interview list. The Jaguars also interviewed Spags. They were able to do the interviews during the Chiefs' bye week. https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/steve-spagnuolo-jets-head-coach-interview-1-10-2025 https://www.si.com/nfl/jaguars/news/breaking-jaguars-announce-completed-interview-with-chiefs-steve-spagnuolo-01jh61djv3t5

The momentum is the same but Physics 101 says that the change in momentum = force * time it takes to stop. If the cushioning means that the head comes to a stop over a 2 cm distance instead of a 1 cm distance, it will increase the time for the head to come to a full stop and the average force will be reduced by about a half. This is the way airbags, crumble zones etc. work. So the brain may be slapping the skull if you hit the pillow but it will do so with much less force which decreases the possibility of a concussion and the severity of the concussion. I have no idea whether the Guardian helmet is real world effective or not but I don't think there is anything in the physics that says it can't work.

Deshaun Watson suffers 2nd achillies rupture
Billy Claude replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
From what I understand they will get a $41M cap hit next season but very little cap hit after if the insurance pays out the $44M. The $41M next season is already reduced from $46 due to insurance payments for missing games this season. They could easily release him post June 1 in 2026 with very little pain. It is true the insurance company will investigate. The new injury has to occur while he was doing approved rehab or otherwise related to his original injury and not, for example, jet-skiing or night-clubbing. -
Deshaun Watson suffers 2nd achillies rupture
Billy Claude replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems like nobody actually reads the thread. As pointed out by MDH and BarleyNY, Watson's contract is heavily insured, they will get $5M of cap relief next season for Watson's missed games this season and will get $44M in cap relief in 2026 if he misses the entire coming season. This is the best possible news for the Browns, enough that the insurance company should look into it more carefully since I am pretty sure Watson doesn't want to play in Cleveland any more. The insurance is expensive but the premium does not count against the cap, so the only question is why more teams don't do this, e.g., von Miller. -

This is definitely best case scenario for the Browns. -
Rodgers played better than the 5-12 record indicates but a lot of those high season total rankings is because Rodgers refused to hand the ball off to his running backs. They had the 5th highest number of passes (20% more than the Bills) but by far the lowest number of rush attempts (4% lower than the next lowest team). I believe the Jets had the lowest ratio of rushes to passes in last season. I can't believe that the Jets OC was refusing to call rushing plays so I assume it was Rodgers either checking out of rushes or Rodgers choosing to pass when he was given a option at the line.

It appears that the Jets want to. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jeff-ulbrich-expects-to-interview-for-jets-head-coaching-job-next-week Obviously just a courtesy interview but I wonder why Ulbrich would bother to take it.

Seems pretty convenient, Browns would get 44.3M of cap relief in 2026 due to injury insurance, not to mention actual cash, if Watson can't play in 2025. Not that Jimmy Haslam would ever do anything dishonest like insurance fraud. https://sports.yahoo.com/browns-eligible-massive-insurance-relief-163727876.html#:~:text=The Browns had about %2414,%2444.3 million in insured relief.

From how I read the article the main person expecting Rex Ryan to interview for theJets HC job is Rex Ryan.

Will the Jets and the Patriots be tanking the last two games?
Billy Claude replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall
What do you mean? Why doesn't it make sense? I am just saying the coaches and front office have zero motivation to tank since they will be gone in a few weeks. Why would they tank to give the Jets a better draft choice? -
Will the Jets and the Patriots be tanking the last two games?
Billy Claude replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was widely reported that Woody Johnson ordered the benching of Tony Adams earlier in the season, so Johnson has made playing time decisions before. However, if I were Ulbrich I would tell Johnson FU if he ordered me to tank. I don't think Woody Johnson has enough respect around the league to blacklist coaches. -

Billy Claude replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why would the Jets tank? How is a higher draft choice going to help anyone on the coaching staff or front office? None of them will be there next season. -
I've got to agree. A lot of the arguments you see in this thread sounds very similar to folks explaining how Star and Edmunds was much more vital to the Bills' success than it seems.

Penix officially replaces Kirk Cousins in ATL
Billy Claude replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cousins has connections with Stefanski. Winston and DTR are probably gone after this season. The Browns can't afford the cap hit if they cut Watson but everybody has seen enough of him. Cousins would step in as presumptive starter. -
The make rate is 83.8% this season vs. 85.9% last season which was the second highest ever. So the kickers are missing about 13% more kicks this season vs last. Last time it was lower was 81.6% in 2019. The make rate on 50 yard+ field goals is the highest it has ever been. So the rate is a little bit but not a lot lower. I think it feels like there are a lot more misses than usual because some established names have been incredibly bad: Dustin Hopkins (64%), Justin Tucker (70%), Younghoe Koo (73%) and others.

Returning to the OP's original question of Ray Davis vs. Baelon Allen , Baelon Allen has completely fallen off a cliff in his last 8 games. In that span, Baelon Allen has 40 carries for 110 yards (2.75 yards per carry). A lot of his carries are probably in short yardage situations but he had 4.8 ypc on 26 carries in the first 4 games. Allen's receiving stats are even worse. He has 5 receptions on 9 targets for 40 yards (8.0 ypr, 4.4 ypt) during the 8 games. How does a running back have a 55% reception rate? For comparison, Davis' stats over his last 8 games are 54 carries for 267 yards (4.94 ypc) and 8 receptions on 9 targets for 139 yards (17.4 ypr, 15.4 ypt). It makes you feel sorry for anyone drafted by the New York Jets. It seems the longer you play for the Jets the worse you get.

Random talking head says something about the Bills
Billy Claude replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I had no intention of steering this thread anywhere. It had been steered off that post a long time ago as with most threads on the board. I was just responding to what a majority of the posts in this thread was about. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
Billy Claude replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
You may not care but most of this thread is about how Collinsworth has some kind of anti-Bill bias when almost everything he said was extremely complimentary to the Bills and to Josh Allen in particular. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
Billy Claude replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Its pretty clear people hear what they want to hear. Does Collinsworth say some stupid things sometimes? Of course he does, but the man was slobbering over the Bills and Josh Allen the whole time. I guarantee you that most 49ers fans were disgusted with how pro-Bills the commentary was and how much he was ball-washing Allen. Yeah, he talked about the Chiefs at the end but that was because the next SNF game is in Kansas City. What did you want him to talk about? How well Trubisky was handing off? For me, I would much rather listen to him than to Romo. -
the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems
Billy Claude replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's what everybody is reporting but I don't see how Mara can keep Daboll given how badly the Giants are playing. The Giants don't have to win but there will be a huge amount of pressure to fire Daboll if the Giants continue to looks so disorganized and non-competitive. If Mara fires Daboll, it wouldn't make sense to let Schoen pick the next coach given that there is a good chance Schoen will be fired in a year. -
Gilliam plays an entirely different role from Cook, Davis, and Johnson. Gilliam has pretty much the same numbers as he had last season, 85% of special team snaps and 9% of offensive snaps.

the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems
Billy Claude replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
From the New York media reports Mara wants to give at least Scheon and maybe both another chance indicating that Mara strongly influence the Jones decision. However, I don't think he will be able to keep them if the team is uncompetitive as they were last Sunday.
