12/15/24 Week 15 Bills @ Lions Game Post Game Thread
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yea I find that very irritating…even this year the defense has been a wreck injury wise for long stretches. it’s the same ‘kc owns us in the playoffs’ talk with no asterisk despite kc being pretty much completely healthy and our entire lb room being gone last year.. earlier in the year last year when we had a huge game against Miami our entire defensive backfield was out and there were no extra props when we beat them -

Don’t the negative posters here swear we only beat Baltimore in the playoffs because of wind? I’ve seen that sentiment echoed many many times on here lol -

10 second runoff was 100% the right call imo. Trade 10 seconds for an extra play of using the entire field. He definitely makes mistakes for sure but a decent amount of criticisms I see are 50/50 judgement calls where either side can be justified or the criticism is straight up wrong. -
They can be built but that’s a bit of a risk with your head coaching career lol not a lot of guys get two chances and I’d be looking at cincy like ‘I could squeeze a little bit more effectiveness out of that offense maybe and still lose games’ youre basically leaving your head coaching career up to whoever you bring in for DC and the team is already really good at what you specialize in. Maybe he jumps at the chance if it opens haha idk seems a little risky though

McDermott victory speech after Lions win
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The lengths y’all will reach to take a shot at McDermott is crazy to me lol there’s plenty of valid things to criticize him for but saying stuff like this just feels like you’re being straight up disingenuous and will attack him for anything and everything -
Yea I don’t entirely disagree, I do think that burrow is in the ideal qb scenario to pump up stats though so losses kind of have to matter to some extent. Look at what Josh has done the last few weeks when forced into shootouts he could’ve had a whole season of that if his defense was worse consistently I don’t think it’s supposed to be a stats only award it’s more of an eye test thing and josh had all that ‘the bills are done this season without Diggs’ talk from all these nfl analysts that are also the voters for the award lol without that Lamar is probably closer
-
Yea recency bias is a thing and he basically burned the voters twice with pretty bad playoff performances after they voted him mvp. Also I think he’s seen as really good but elevated a bit by roster talent where Josh is seen as really really good and elevating roster talent they also openly used ‘loss totals matter’ to disqualify Josh last year so it will be hard to justify giving it to a qb with 5+ losses now
-
The ravens lost to the raiders and the browns and their record against good teams isn’t any better. Eagles had a few weird losses and giving an MVP to a rb takes a ton. Barkley is a shoe-in for offensive player of the year though i really can’t remember a team beating the best team in each conference in recent memory…no one’s gonna even care about those back to back tough games early in the season
-
The context hurts Lamar so badly…if there was zero past history he’d definitely still be in it. Getting it rather unjustly last year then not doing much of anything against kc in the playoffs after a pretty bad playoff showing after his first mvp has to have the voters wanting to go a different way
-
This is exactly how the chiefs looked their first superbowl run. Also, the defense looked pretty darn good against the best offense in the league until the injury situation got unsustainable while they look similar on the stats sheet, that rams game was an absolute disaster without having a valid excuse and I thought we rebounded quite a bit

Onside Kick Wasn’t as Crazy as You Think
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think a surprise onside kick there would’ve been controversial even but certainly defensible. What the lions did yesterday was massively controversial lol the only place I see it being defended with some regularity is the bills message board who has been talking up every lions coach for years so there seems to be a bit of bias going on 😂 -
Onside Kick Wasn’t as Crazy as You Think
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lol I mean people are disagreeing with that assertion which can easily be justified too 😂. From poking around lions forums nearly all of them were against it. i don’t even think the analytics support it personally.. assuming the bills start the drive in the 25-30 range stopping 1 of those 3 ish sets of downs is a much higher probability than recovering a declared onside kick and I don’t even think it’s remotely debatable. Recovering a declared onside kick is just an insanely low percentage play. Heck kicking it short of the end zone and the returner fumbling is probably as likely as an onside kick recovery these days. And also on top of that the lions pretty much gifted us a td giving up that huge return This is true…if it could’ve been a surprise I would not have been against it even if it didn’t work -

Haha now we’re using a terrible decision by the opposing coach to take a shot at McDermott. That is hilarious. He realized it was an awful call that’s why he didn’t do it again 😂. You’re basically gifting the opponent a 2 score lead and having to drive down the whole field an extra time late in the game this was an all time bad call imo…it worked out in their favor to a degree that the return was so good. the odds you force a punt are wayyyy higher than the odds you recover an onside kick now that you have to declare it even against a qb that’s on fire with a depleted defense -
To rest or not to rest the starters, that is the question
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall
The 1 seed is a huge difference if Baltimore ends up taking the division…of course if that happens it probably means pit lost to kc so we don’t have a shot at it lol Really gotta root for pit down the stretch I think. as it stands now though I feel like you could make the case the 2 seed is better. -
The team will absolutely treat it like what you’re describing….if we at any point have nothing to play for they’ll sit josh I’m certain. Or he’ll play a half if they’re worried about keeping him fresh. I’m not sure how fans wanting him to win mvp can be a distraction 😂

Generic_Bills_Fan replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
Defending that call seems like an utter refusal to admit other highly touted coaches make horrible mistakes. that decision was absolutely horrendous and this board would’ve crashed from all the hate posts if mcd did it 😂 if they could’ve kicked a surprise onside kick like the old days I wouldn’t have disliked it that would’ve changed the success probability a lot -
I was fiddling around with some stats and since that lions hot streak started week 9 of 2022, 22% of the lions regular season losses were to the bills and 25% of the chiefs regular season losses were to the bills provided my math is right lol. That seems pretty crazy. You actually miss out on a bills win over the chiefs earlier in 2022 also with that cutoff
-
Looks like rumblings from sportsbooks are josh is somewhere in the -750 to -1000 range in mvp betting. Looks like it’s finally happening!
-
That’s pretty much what happened with the afc east last year lol would not be unprecedented

Last two games prove Allen deserved a dome
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Kingston Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was literally beaten a week ago by a team that hit nearly every throw and made every catch in a dome and it was so ridiculous that cowherd posted a rant about how the bills defense is failing josh Allen lol then it seems like he completely forgot about the thing that moved him so much that it caused that rant a week later 😂. Your opponent is also playing in perfect weather too when you have a dome I have no idea why we’d want it especially when our division rival never wins in cold weather -
Spector in over Williams.
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Riverboat Ritchie's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can’t even count how many times I saw ‘why isn’t this player playing’ posted in the GDT about one of our like 8 injured defensive players hahaha -
Bills had a bodybag game against the Steelers and lost pretty much the whole linebacker room and this year I think the chiefs are the ones battling uphill with injury issues at home. Should be interesting Chiefs just feel like a better match up for the bills than the ravens would be. The whole angle of having a stable of pretty good not great defensive ends you can rotate in really only works against a team with pretty bad tackles lol I think the chiefs are probably a corner short with the Watson injury to slow down the bills on offense too. Chiefs are still great and I’m talkin like 60/40 type game for the bills maximum.
