AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bills get more straight up phantom holds called on them than any other team I’ve watched and it’s always rather suspiciously when they’re about to run away with a game lol probably a coincidence but it’s uncanny -
AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs

If the team is not trying in the last big hurdle to an undefeated season or when you’ve got a shot to prevent really the only team that beats you from making the playoffs in 2023 I’m not sure what the hell they’re doing 🤣 these teams play eachother tough and any game could go either way…it’s mostly luck the tiny sample size of playoff games all fell one way and the huge regular season games fell the other and I don’t think they want to believe that. Makes every game a little scarier -
If that second tush push got stopped it’s a sure loss imo..the third down call still sucked assuming Josh just didn’t go rogue but I think the ‘worst case scenario’ is getting downplayed a bit

I think much like there’s homers that will defend anything there’s anti homers that will attack anything and sometimes a decent topic that’s somewhere in the middle and should lead to a good discussion like this one gets posted that one of the sides think is a classic overly negative/positive post 🤣 I can see the other side of this one but it gets harder and harder to keep saying turnovers are luck every single week for me. To me those two things are related and the only reason we got conservative was because of the turnovers. If you take the turnovers away you completely change the game for both teams yea maybe we have a game where we don’t force any turnovers and lose, but it’s just as likely we have a game we’re firmly in control of that we turn it over ourselves going for the throat and the other team steals a win imo It probably gets a little grating for the optimistic side that when we win a close one it’s always ‘we could’ve lost’ but if we lose a close one it’s not ‘we could’ve won if we made another play’ it’s ’we suck’ lol

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me personally to cherry pick just the playoff games but maybe I’m in the minority. The chiefs last two games against us were to clear the last big hurdle towards an undefeated season and to eliminate the only team that beats them pretty consistently from the playoffs the year before. I would at minimum include those two games into the overall ‘how do the bills play against the chiefs in humongous games’ conversation. The playoffs only sample size just seems way too small to conclude anything especially when every game regular season or playoffs is your classic ‘could go either way late’ type game It’s crazy how much one game can change the whole narrative, last year we were probably a mess at linebacker away from being 5-1 against kc in our last 6 with the only loss being the 13 seconds debacle. But now it’s ‘we’ll never win the playoff game’
-
Oh yea on the offensive side that’s kind of a different discussion because we we have a straight up freakishly low turnover number. Not sure what the lowest in history is but we have to be close. Defensive takeaways were in line with a handful of other teams, on the offensive side it’s pretty much just us and LAC. Some of it seems to be an offensive philosophy type thing for those two teams but that doesn’t explain all of it. The defense forcing an INT because they’re getting a lot of presssure/disguising coverages well and scooping up a fumble because Lamar was under pressure and frustrated in the first half didn’t feel like a lot of luck to me though. Not sure what to classify the Andrews punch out as…I guess lucky he didn’t secure it better? Still a really nice defensive play though I miss 538 sports

Thinking the chiefs game is harder is more trust your gut type analysis than on field play/advanced metrics/matchup type analysis imo the bills win over the ravens is getting minimized a bit because people just automatically assume playoff Lamar will blow one at some point, the chiefs are getting hyped up cuz the narrative is they’re unbeatable. That ravens team by pretty much all advanced metrics was an all time great team. The chiefs are a very good team.. Chiefs definitely have a really good chance to win not trying to say it’s an easy game by any means but it’s a couple tiers below Baltimore imo. Doesn’t mean it’ll go the same way though. Football is way too high variance to pull the ‘well we beat the better team so we’re clearly gonna beat this team too’
-
I wouldn’t argue they won because of turnovers…the point I disagree with is the implication going around that turnovers are ‘luck’. in fact I think your two points are related and the bills got more conservative on offense because of the turnovers. You take some of those away and you completely change what the bills offense does too this whole yea but if the ravens didn’t fumble…. type stuff is pretty irrational. You can’t just take a big play away from a team and assume all their decision making stays the same
-
I mean…the guy was an all pro last year that frequently gets the toughest matchup on the field and is used in so many different ways. Nickel corner is arguably the hardest position in football. He’s not getting targeted because he’s ‘bad‘ you replace taron with anyone else in the league outside a small handful of guys and we get worse. If he can’t go we are in trouble
-
Why do the negative posts keep getting worse the more we win 🤣 should we win the superbowl I just can’t wait for the compilation of these kind of posts haha
-
Lamar looked absolutely lost in that first half which led directly to one of the turnovers and arguably both. Henry was held completely in check which seemed to cause a lot of panic on the Baltimore side. To not credit the bills players/coaches and make it sound like luck is completely ridiculous. Philly got outgained by a ton and beat Baltimore also, it’s not like the bills were the only team to win that style of game against them

Dalton Kincaid- why so underwhelming this season?

I can’t believe how good he is…no one will say this because he’s a safety but he’s got a case for best player in the nfl lol -
Divisional Round, Ravens v. Bills, GAME BALLS!
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Felt like Josh audibled into a lot of those screens and I can’t even say it was the wrong call the ravens just rallied and tackled so well all night. I’m not even sure the chiefs could pull a game like that off but we’ll see. -
He frequently looked pretty lost…that real nice drive at the end has distorted it a bit imo that whole first half was real bad for him and I don’t think he did quite enough to redeem it.
-
I just can’t put Lamar there until he’s not a net negative in a huge playoff game. Love the guy and maybe it’s bad luck/small sample size but it is what it is
-
That’s gonna be the new thing that annoys me from sports analysts lol. Everyone’s talkin like that 2 pointer was a game winner with no time remaining 🤣 Ehh if you’re gonna undo a fumble you change how conservative the bills were on offense too so it’s tough to make claims like this
-
That ‘slight advantage at qb’ is always the question mark with the ravens though and it seems like it’s gonna continue. A DC late in the playoffs is gonna come up with a gameplan that befuddles him for long enough to lose the game. They frequently look like an all time great team in regular seasons
