Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Under 5 targets every game until tonight too where he had six and not a lot of receiving yards. Couple pass interference ish penalties that could’ve gone either way…the one that was called definitely did not look like pi to me though. there’s somewhat of a myth I’d argue that Reid brings receivers on slow because of tyreek/rashee but tyreek was starting slow wherever he went because he only had one year at a big college before getting kicked out for beating his girlfriend. He wasn’t really pro ready. rice was getting more targets early than worthy has but was not gifted a blown coverage td which is still kind of distorting the stats.. worthy is actually getting a lot more snaps early than rice did.. rashee seems like he had limited opportunities to get on the field early because they didn’t want to give up on skyy moore too soon. -

If a bills draft pick won the starting job and was pretty much immediately benched this board would be absolute chaos haha outside of the obvious double standards between the teams though nobody can say worthy is definitely a hit based on his play so far either by that logic -

You know the DT we picked up with that pick has been great so far right? Lol I think the inverse is going to be true and they’re gonna regret they did it. Worthy very well still may have been there in their normal spot -

I’ve been going through Reid’s whole drafting history out of curiosity and it’s just way too small a sample size to say his guys usually start slow and come on strong. He’s had the same small number of guys start fast and a surprising amount of pretty bad early round wr picks honestly 😂 hill would’ve started slow for any team I’d bet too because he only really had one year at a big time school and wasn’t really pro ready. rice had 5 or more targets in 4 of his first 5 games, worthy has not hit that mark once in a game this season yet prior to today so I feel like it’s still very much up in the air.. I think his stats are still pretty skewed by a couple outlier plays this early one of which was a straight up blown coverage -

They also aren’t really forced into it due to injury either I’d say so I’m not sure how super relevant that is in this case we’ll see what happens though for sure…rashee just watching him at game speed looked like he’d be more of a complete player early to me but I don’t dig into chiefs film too much obviously 😂 -

Still doesn’t look like much more than a marquise Goodwin type to me who could’ve had a pretty solid career if it wasn’t for injuries to be fair…I feel like there isn’t a good reason why he shouldn’t be heavily featured with what the chiefs have going on on offense and he just doesn’t seem to be much more than a burner i think the chiefs probably selected a decent enough player but they really needed tackle help bad and worthy was kind of unnecessary. Worthy didn’t really make much sense for us either we needed a more well rounded wr that was a big physical target -

I really don’t think so unless they get a ton of help back…winning even three straight games against good teams is tough sledding and these injuries have given them some big time areas to exploit. Last year they were just absurdly healthy compared to the other teams -

Lots of guys got second shots at head coach recently from the defensive side…Quinn, Morris, and Bowles. I feel like there’s a defensive resurgence coming it’s been pretty interesting. Spags has been saying he wants another shot recently but he’s just too old now for anyone to roll the dice -

The offense just has to be ok and not turn it over because the defense can take care of itself and even create points on its own they do seem to be paying the piper for being freakishly healthy last playoff run though -

It is pretty crazy I don’t want to say it’s some conspiracy or anything but the refs essentially stole a game from the bengals cuz Trey Hendrickson got held all game long and they called it about 10% as often as they should’ve The mute button is your friend lol -
Mini rebuild. Why is anyone that surprised?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Blackbeard's topic in The Stadium Wall
How are they exceptions exactly? More offensive minded head coaches hired means more fired which means more available for OC which was point 1. They’re not all getting hc jobs and disappearing lol you made it sound like there will never be anyone to do the job. then the second point was spagnuolo almost assuredly gets a head coaching job and promoted out of DC if he wasn’t so old, it has nothing to do with him being defense minded. And I listed multiple other guys that are coaching right now who followed that same trajectory with less success than spags. then the third point was I think we may be seeing a swing back to defense look at what happened the last hiring cycle. It’s not like there’s some common convention that’s it’s a no no to hire defensive minded head coaches now that only Buffalo doesn’t know 😂. really don’t think you’ve disproven anything here -
Worst (regular season) coached game in the entire McD era
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
They thought 3 runs would get little to no gain, we’d punt, and Martin would likely set them up in fg range anyway. We literally complain about Martin and punt coverage all the time here lol it came down to let’s give the guy we’re paying buckets of money to a proactive chance to ensure ot or who knows maybe we steal one rather than Martin likely losing us the game. Martin kicked a good one though and made the whole situation look even more odd 🤣. I absolutely would’ve ran three times personally and I’m all for flaming them for it because of how it went down…they are the face of all the in game decisions. But like…it wasn’t the craziest most out of nowhere decision in the world lol. it circles back to them any way you look at it anyway because if they’re not trusting the punt or the punt coverage that’s gotta be coaching and/or front office related anyway -

Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean the issue for me is you need a coach that’s not only good but more or less a scheme fit or you’re probably taking a big step backwards early especially on the defensive side to maybe take a step forward when they rebuild the roster over a few years. I’d argue a new coach at this point probably wastes more josh than what is happening currently then a lot of teams get in the constant cycle of hiring and firing coaches every 3 years because they never get the team quite built the way they want it and someone else takes over and starts the process all over again -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
See that makes sense to me at least haha this situation was honestly pretty justifiable…doesn’t mean other stuff was too though. But making it sound like it’s way worse than anything he’s ever done is wild my main argument against firing mcd is I really get the vibe the defense completely implodes unless you bring in a dc that runs a similar scheme but everyone complains about the scheme anyway so I don’t think people want that either 😂. I’m not sure this is a playoff team anymore in the short term once he’s out -

Playing scared 🤣. Not at all to a fault in this case. He trusted his big money qb to either give them a chance to win or ensure OT more than relying on shaky Sam Martin to keep them out of immediate fg range after three straight telegraphed runs. Not the right call and when something goes wrong he’s the face so I get the frustration. But it really wasn’t that shocking of a decision the too many men on the broncos fg was much worse than this imo and that didn’t pick up much steam
