  1. Missed this comment but it kind of ties into what we’re talking about now haha. The lions were hitting big plays because Douglas was giving less cushion than your typical mcd game the way I saw it.. this didn’t feel like what you’re describing as a typical mcd game to me at all. They didn’t run the ball particularly well either which forced them into a lot of 3rd and mediums or longer but they hit them all
  2. I guess my gripe is with this ‘soft zone’ term that gets thrown around…even when it wasn’t a man blitz the corners were playing pretty tight it seemed like. I think we didn’t want to make things easy for their supposedly bad oline so we were trying to make Stafford hold the ball longer and hit deeper throws consistently and he did. To me it was pretty different than your typical mcd game and seemed pretty inspired by how Miami beat them almost to a fault lol
  3. I don’t even mean the blitz plays…seemed like our corners were really challenging their receivers and Douglas had a bad game…pretty sure nacua at least was manned up for a lot of the game it wasn’t like they were hitting drag routes and quick outs all the way down the field because our corners were playing soft lol that’s why I don’t get the label. Everything was coming in chunks. I noticed an extra safety in the box a few of the times I was looking for it too in the second half
  4. Did they sit in soft zone all game? Lol I really didn’t get that vibe at all. I guess I have to watch again but it seemed like we tried to play a lot of man to me and staffords ball placement was insane even when the coverage was good I feel like our corners were overly aggressive almost to a fault…didn’t seem ‘soft’ to me at all. Or when people throw ‘soft zone’ out around here are they specifically talking about safeties?
  5. What have been? Seemed like we tried a lot of different things on the defensive side throughout that one but Stafford played so well that nothing worked. This didn’t feel like your classic let them run the ball/get dinked and dunked all the way down to the red zone type game to me at all personally belichick is one of the best defensive coaches of all time and threw everything he could think of at us and Allen still had a perfect offensive performance against him in the playoffs…sometimes you’ve just gotta tip your cap and move on
  6. If you slowly work him in I don’t think he’s at 100% for the playoffs which id argue is more important than the somewhat slim chance we chase kc down for the 1 seed Stafford was possessed that was like Angels in the outfield if you’ve ever seen that movie 😂 they weren’t losing to anybody yesterday
  7. I’m sure this is a minority opinion haha but I’m actually a little more confident in the lions game after this one. Even if our defense plays exactly the same I don’t think Goff makes some of those throws Stafford made without turning the ball over once or twice People are hung up on the ‘the rams had the 20th ranked offense’ thing for some reason. All their impact offensive players missed a bunch of time The lions would not have beaten that rams team yesterday Stafford was absolutely on fire. They met week 1 and went to OT but Stafford was not as on in that one
  8. I hate giving the defense credit for anything after that one haha but I have to say the coverage was pretty tight at times and forced Stafford to hit ridiculous throw/catches despite absolutely 0 pass rush. He hit them all anyway but still 🤣 if we can force Goff into those kind of situations I don’t think he’ll be close to as successful as Stafford was.. I just assumed everything would look super easy with a game that bad from our dline
  9. Lions remind me of a better 2023 dolphins…they throttle bad teams but are consistently locked into super tight games against good ones. I’d be pretty shocked if it’s not a close game
  10. This rams game was pretty different than those imo. We’ve watched those chiefs playoff games where guys were running around wide open all night long but this one was mostly Stafford making incredible throws and guys making incredible catches for 60 straight minutes
  11. Rams were missing basically their whole offense for most of the season so I don’t think their season ranks are super relevant. Lions got a full strength rams week 1 of the season and the game went to overtime for comparisons sake
  12. The rush defense was actually pretty decent yesterday surprisingly the rams just had so many rushing attempts that it seems worse than it was lol
  13. Hard to tell when we fell that far behind lol That was a dream game for a team that can’t stop the run 🤣
  14. Some of the late ones like that were really smart plays where he didn’t want to chance getting tackled inbounds. Early ones I think were your classic ‘why take hits with the playoffs locked up’. If he knew the way the bills defense would play the rest of the game I’m sure he would’ve run more I still don’t think Detroit is capable of what LA did yesterday on offense…a lot of it was Stafford being laser accurate and wrs making ridiculous plays. That’s not really goff’s game. The talk after this game has been weird to me..every time we lose it’s ’the Bills played vanilla soft zone, x team will run all over us next week’ but that didn’t seem like the case to me at all in this one. LA really didn’t run the ball as well as it seemed
  15. Assuming he doesn’t melt down and plays at least average the rest of the way and we lose the Detroit game and win the rest to go 13-4 I don’t think there’s a chance Josh doesn’t win mvp There’s just too many narratives going in his favor this year
  16. You don’t think the OC is involved in that decision at all when he’s calling the plays? Lol. And to take it a step further, you were just talking about how great they were because they go for every 4th down when the time that it really mattered it completely blew up in their face so that seemed extremely relevant but no that wasn’t my main point, my main point is the lions are 1/1 in epic playoff failures maybe wait to see it play out a little longer before you fire a good head coach and replace him with someone with no head coaching experience just because the playoff bracket worked out so he saw the peak team of the NFC a round later than the bills did in the AFC I mean it takes time to turn that many players over though is what I’m getting at…there’s a legitimate chance belichick would not live long enough to do it. Not because it takes THAT long, just because he’s that old haha
  17. He wouldn’t…there’d be a lot of roster turnover I’d imagine. And even if he eventually did, how many years is he coaching for? I think he’s gonna take a college job to try to get his son back into coaching tbh. With the way his pats career ended nfl teams aren’t gonna give him free rein to do whatever he wants so that won’t fly
  18. First sentence is my favorite because they literally blew the nfc championship getting stuffed on multiple 4th downs that they absolutely should not have gone for haha if we had the lions coaching staff we’d still be hammering them for that big blown lead in the playoffs and trying to run them out of town to hire some other hot OC prospect 😂
  19. I wouldn’t say I’m not impressed I just don’t think he’s so mind blowingly good of an OC that he’s a can’t miss head coaching prospect and having a great oline definitely opens the playbook up more. Obviously if we get blown out in the wildcard round or something the decision gets easier, but if we lose a tight game in the second or third round that is a toughhhh decision to make. tale as old as time a hyped coordinator leaves for a head coaching job and the team is unaffected but the hyped coordinator completely flames out as a head coach. Heck it just happened with us not long ago and it’s probably about to happen again haha
  20. Oh yea i don’t think they’ll do it…people are talkin like terry is stupid because someone like Ben Johnson can’t be worse but he absolutely can lol
  21. This fascination with Ben Johnson puzzles me a bit. We’d be moving on from a HC with a ton of experience to a first time head coach that’s OC of a team with an oline so good they’d make any nfl oc look competent. I would not at all be surprised if he flames out when he finally takes a shot somewhere heck Ulbrich was thought of to be a big head coaching candidate to the point where the jets thought they’d get a boost from him taking over early and he has failed his audition massively it’s a big risk and you better be sure you’re right if you take that chance lol
  22. I don’t really get that cuz we’d have more competition if we weren’t as good lol it’s like chicken or the egg 🤣 if the dolphins beat us twice this year they are leading the division right now with an easy closing schedule. If we split we’d be less comfy but still leading and a tough game vs Detroit coming up
  23. They’ve had good luck for years haha it’s honestly insane
  24. Idk how you play more man without generating any pressure…I can’t imagine how many points we would’ve given up doing that haha
  25. I mean they were getting tons of pressure with 4 against kc…that didn’t happen today
