Yea having a defense that can actually get a stop once in awhile will make a huge difference compared to last year lol I do understand people thinking the bad offensive is a trend when looking at some of the playoff games last year though -
What I did and didn't like vs Steelers

Yep it's the common denominator in all the losses. He doesn't typically force the ball into tight coverages anymore except on those few times he thought he had free plays but he will pass up some 4-5 yard gains looking for more and teams rely on him doing that to win. Cowboys had a similar strategy of completely foregoing the run against the bucs to not play to the strengths of their front 7 but dak did a better job of taking what he was given -
Exactly and 4 wide and 5 wide sets created tons of mismatches today we just couldn't execute on the field. You still have a threat to run with allen which is why you see the qb designed runs. Just a bad game I don't think the team is broken. If the pit dbs were stacked and the front 7 was shaky I think you would've seen more balance. Reminded me of the cowboys gameplan against the bucs but dak took more of the underneath stuff and didn't push as hard for the deep ball. They were a BS pushoff away from winning that game I dont think 20 more Elliot carries for 3 ypc or less wouldve helped their chances

Week 2: Bills at Dolphins

Honestly allen shouldve been more check downy and we win that game...guy is trying to hit a home run every play. He's so used to having to put the team on his shoulders and play out of his mind to win but the defense had his back today -

This is a joke but I think he has too many weapons 🤣 seems like he diagnoses oh man I'm gonna have diggs or Davis or sanders etc open on this deep cross if I just buy myself another split second and passes up a lot of the underneath stuff that would move the chains in a couple games every year -

Haha you could be right it's too early to tell anything about any team. Seems like there's a lot more good defensive linemen are coming into the league than offensive linemen so more and more teams with pocket passers are struggling. Brady is an absolute freak of nature at diagnosing the plays so he totally can't be used as evidence 🤣 Idk where everyone was getting these super lofty expectations from as far as regular season record goes...the division is def gonna be tighter and that was reflected in our season wins over/under total. -

How do you separate what the qb should get credit for from what the OC should get credit for though especially in a game like today. Really everyone excels against bad competition and struggles against better defenses lol that's what makes them statistically good defenses. -

Oh yea I agree I dont really care who anybody blames for the loss 🤣 I just think the evidence shows this game is more likely to be an outlier than anything. This whole 'the other team knows we're running 4 wr sets' thing is going overboard though because there are tons of options out of even an empty set with a mobile qb This is def true...at least it looked like he only forced balls into double coverage when we shouldve had free plays but he goes for the home run when there's receivers open for modest gains pretty often -

The scheme worked josh just had a bad game...idk if that makes people feel better or worse 🤣 there were open receivers all game that either dropped the ball or were overthrown or he just straight up didn't see -

A couple of those stupid decisions were blown calls to be fair... that 4th and 8 bomb should have been a free play the later play where he thought he had too many men on the field on a first down play was a little closer No respect for Cole beasley huh lol those guys that can settle in the gaps of zone defense are the unsung heroes of an offense and we struggled a bit when he was playing on one leg in the playoffs -

Trying to catch them off guard... also you figure you need the stop anyway so they were probably trying to make sure they ended up with the last possession too where a score wins the game. 6 minutes or so with 3 timeouts is plenty of time -

An underthrow could be an absolute disaster though too depending on how the DB has it played...an overthrow is much safer usually on a deep ball. I think most of that was not having the game reps with sanders yet...Josh probably got the ball where he wanted it -
I think daboll is the punching bag because of the horrible 4th down call. Offense was sloppy all game...the plays were there...the scheme was working fine. I've probably said this 14 times in this thread because I've lost track of what threads I'm respond to 🤣 but the chiefs defensive 'performance' in the afc championship anz the game earlier in the year was nonsense. No idea why the refs were fine with it that week and not having it in the super bowl but reverse those two officiating crews and maybe we win a shootout. Probably not cuz our defense was dreadful but you never know
-
Haha I mean I'm sure it effects their analytics on a 50+ yard fg...going for a fg and missing is just as bad as throwing it into double coverage on 4th and 8 because you think you have a free play 🤣 it's just so easy for us to criticize with the power of hindsight...If they kicked the fg and missed we'd all be saying they should've gone for it lol
-
They were clearly Offside...do qbs usually wait to see the flag come out before they throw it deep in situations like that? I'm not sure
-
Slants are manbeaters and teams do not play man against us except for the dolphins who we have roasted every time haha chiefs did too but they played suspiciously good man coverage 🤣

Chiefs seemed like a lot of it was holding the ball waiting for someone to come open but today was def quick pressure. I think a lot of that chiefs game was our receivers playing hurt/ the chiefs getting away with tons of defensive holding. Diggs usually eats man defensive alive but he was playing with a tofb oblique. Today seemed like pit was playing mostly zone Totally agree...I think the teams that give Josh allen trouble either play man and hold our wrs like crazy and get away with it or play zone and give josh some of the check downs and take away the deep crossers and hope he waits too long for someone to come open. -

I think we're sleeping on how much strain a mobile qb puts on a defense...mac could be a significantly more accurate passer and still a downgrade...not saying this is true as it's way too early to tell just that it's possible I think this whole this team makes us sad so we're gonna try way harder to beat them is not a real thing 🤣 shouldn't our team be just as hungry for a win after blowing our home opener? -
What do called running plays do for an offense against the best front 7 in football? Then you've got 2nd and 3rd and longs against a tough pass rush
-
Allen was undefeated against top 5 defenses last year I'm pretty sure they said before the game haha our offensive is so far from one dimensional that I think a DC preparing a gameplan against us would laugh pretty hard reading these threads...y'all have a very old school definition for what constitutes a running play I finally found a take I can agree with 🤣 I think we tried to connect on deep passes too many times when short gains were there
-
Daboll gets a lot of blame for the games where the offense just doesn't execute in my opinion. 4wr sets when your qb can run put a ton of pressure on the defense which is why you're seeing that setup get more and more popular around the league. If you're under center in run heavy formations that makes your offense less dynamic...run vs pass is a very old school oversimplification that really only the fans make lol
-
The league is trending pretty hard away from this...a lot of runs go for no gain or a few yards and you still put your qb in a situation where he's gotta make a big play. I think cams threat to run made their run game a little more dynamic and their run game will struggle a little more now with Mac despite him being the better passer
