Kelly the Dog Calls the Question: Yay or Nay Sayer
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not sure mac could ever really rise to the level josh is at even in ideal circumstances based on physical limitations. As long as josh is not retired I don’t see this being worse than a 50/50 game for us. He is doing an admirable job hiding horrifying deficiencies on the offensive line this season and I expect a pretty strong finish with some of our injured/Covid guys back. I wouldn’t really be surprised by anything Monday night including us absolutely walloping the pats. I think their win streak is being a bit overblown…it’s more down to favorable scheduling during that stretch and every big afc game they’ve had during the streak their opponent has been missing all their key offensive weapons. They’re certainly capable of beating us even with star, edmunds, brown, and Feliciano playing but I think it’s closer to a 60/40 game in our favor than a 50/50 game -

haha idk that is a great question...i think im more on the disliking brady train than the belichick train ive noticed this year. Belichick had a bit of an underdog story going on this season as people falsely concluded he couldnt get it done without brady. the pats being competitive now doesnt upset me a whole lot but thats easy for me to say before this season is over haha if they start winning the division every year im sure i will change my mind. totally on board with the josh allen analysis...he certainly has areas to improve but i think hes been the best hes ever been this year. In similar games last season where our offensive line struggled against a 4 man rush he looked terrible...theres just been many more of these games and he has actually looked quite good MOST of the time. He did sort of blow that jags game though trying to do too much...couple less turnovers and we pull that one out 12-9 probably. the dude is making nearly impossible freak plays look absolutely routine...i dont know how you can defend this team if the offensive line plays decent. -

yea i think weve got a bit of the hot hand fallacy going on right now regarding the patriots....each week youre playing a new team on a new day with different positional matchups so the fact theyre on a bit of a winning streak isnt as relevant as its being made out to be....we won like 9 or 10 in a row before getting spanked by the chiefs in the afc championship so we know that better than anyone lol it comes down to the matchups on the field and we are in a completely different situation this week than we were against the colts. and looking at it and a higher level...i think saying our defenses are about even is fair to say. They have some exploitable weaknesses in the secondary and we like to pass...we have potentially exploitable weaknesses up front and they like to run. and saying our offense is better is a bit of a no brainer. and we are at home...this really is a game we should win more than half the time. but weve got a bunch of analysts trying to make the sexy pick that could be outsmarting themselves lol if we had the same lineup as the colts game we'd be behind on offense and defense it was really not a shock we lost that one. That is not the game you want to be missing your run stuffing DT and starting mlb. -
very reminiscent of the dolphins last year...everyone was losing their minds when they were on a big win streak but there wasnt really any statement wins in there. Yea maybe its me not seeing him enough times. yea the way the pats offense is built feels very high floor/low ceiling youre gonna get a consistent performance every week. But theyre gonna be facing 2-3 absolute freaks of nature qbs that maybe the floor is a little lower but someone like mahomes/lamar/josh allen could absolutely go off at any moment. kind of like when the titans knocked out the brady-led pats but then they couldnt get past mahomes. One of those guys is gonna beat you if youre a ball control/play good defense team. Maybe 10 years ago when you could hold wrs all game long and absolutely murder qbs on sacks it wouldve been a different story lol.

Not sure how many baseball fans are out there and what team y'all prefer but the few years where the yankees were good and the red sox were bad or vice versa were much less fun overall looking back on it...i think the same thing kind of applies here. Yea its gonna be more tense during the regular season but thats the exciting part of being a sports fan. Also if we cant at least split with a team like the pats i doubt were a serious playoff contender anyway regardless of if we make it there. A split would be a win this year for us...unless we lose one to the jets somehow lol -
Changing the gameplan due to weather

i mean a horrible guy replacing a very horrible guy is still a huge win hahaha plus we can reshuffle some guys with brown back and put them in better positions to succeed. -
Changing the gameplan due to weather

This feels a bit exaggerated imo...pats still rely on some intermediate passing routes to set the run up too and idk if mac really has the arm strength to limit the winds effect on the pass. Airing out the ball deep would certainly be effected but Josh can throw absolute missiles...we've seen him be pretty effective in high winds before. I think thats probably why were leaning away from a dome. -
What the actual ***** Fox/NFL network?!
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
it really is...the media is in so deep on this bucs vs pats potential superbowl storyline being a huge draw through the last half of the season and they are pushing it as hard as humanly possible. i still dont believe the pats are one of the best teams in the afc but they will certainly have their shot to prove me wrong monday night lol Feels very much like when they hyped up the 2020 Dolphins who were forcing absurd amounts of turnovers and destroying mediocre teams but I could definitely be wrong -
I think the pats have a better chance than the bucs not sure how hot or a take that is though…pats aren’t really built well to knock out a bunch of playoff caliber opponents in a row though so I don’t give that matchup much of a chance…and the bucs have a gauntlet of tough nfc teams to wade through.
-
Someone would protest that it encourages gun violence probably lol
-
Yea should be interesting…our team is tough to gauge we really had one terrible defensive performance and we were missing a lot of defensive pieces in a matchup where those guys were at a premium…I thought we actually did a decent job against Henry in the other game we gave up a lot of points and that titans offense at full strength is a tier or two above the pats talent wise They certainly could win the game but it seems like their fans have a bit of a false sense of security about how tough this game will be because we got nuked by the colts and they see themselves as a better version of the colts. The NY Times had an article about how we’re destined for a pats bucs Superbowl…these are crazy times lol I feel like wishful thinking has supplanted logic at this point…i don’t even see the bucs getting past the packers…as bills fans surviving years of being bad we have developed a negative wishful thinking haha this whole psychological phenomenon is baffling like I feel like it’s fair to say at worst for us this is a 50/50 game and people are frustrated that it’s potentially a 50/50 game so we’re talking like we’ve already lost 😂

All-22 Grades for Bills/Saints (The Athletic)

I have the unfortunate displeasure of getting giants games locally and I think their oline may even be better than ours but it’s pretty eye opening watching an average qb try to deal with that kind of instant pressure all game long. They can’t do much of anything on offense -
I don’t even think it’s out of nowhere they just had a really front loaded schedule…all bets are off if we beat the pats Monday the 1 seed is truly up for grabs and I’m sure kc will be very thankful

I think some of us are just salty we didn’t get a long run of the pats being bad haha I hated the Brady led pats much more especially considering they were stealing our defensive signals for years 😂 -

Several of those terrible offensive linemen will not be playing Monday which should help lots of peoples grades on the offense -

I feel bad for josh this year…he should be allowed to not buy the oline Christmas presents this year…dude is balling and we’re talking about how his huge contract may be a mistake regardless 😂 silver lining he’s almost forced to improve bumping some of the intermediate routes up in his progressions to avoid certain death lol he did a nice job with that against the saints outside of that one pick where he got the ball out late -
Haha true the hindsight was bad on that one 😂 tough to pick up a crucial yard on a 4th down when your oline is struggling in one on one matchups. I really thought they were starting to pick up in that game and the titans dline was getting gassed which might have factored into the decision but they made the play that counted…crazy how different this season would look if we won that game even with our bad colts loss
-
Winning 4 playoff games is so difficult without someone really special at qb in todays nfl. I know I’m breaking my own speculation rule with this one but I don’t think a consistent but not special offense like the pats this season is gonna win those three playoff games to punch their Superbowl ticket. If you forced me to take a guess what happens with the pats long term I think they’re a perennial playoff team that can’t get it done in the playoffs…the 49ers were one of the most well rounded consistent teams I can think of in recent memory and mahomes just got hot at the right time and stunned them in the superbowl
-
I do understand that speculation is the whole point of a football message board but assuming a guy who hasn’t been asked to do much is the next greatest quarterback of all time candidate because his defense is ravaging bad teams is outrageous to me. Let him win a big game first then crown him. Josh Allen has a lot of you desensitized it seems like…the dude is making freakish nearly impossible plays look routine every single game…we’ve been short handed on the oline for 75% of the season and he is still balling. If we look bad with brown and Feliciano back Monday I will concede that point lol we have had absolute clowns starting at key positions in all our big losses…which is happening all around the league this year as Covid and the cap reduced year are throwing a wrench in teams depth charts. We’re nearly at full strength for the first time since we murdered the chiefs
-
The pats are just the fun story right now and they want to reel people in with this possible bucs vs pats super bowl. I wouldn’t read too much into the media spin they crown the browns as super bowl favorites every offseason 😂 As far as x’s and o’s go we are the better team on paper especially with brown Feliciano and star back and a healthy edmunds and should win the game. People are talking like we’re 10 point dogs at home I don’t understand it. Could the pats win…absolutely. But they are underdogs for a reason
-
Their defense is great but I don’t think it’s an excellent matchup for them…they seem to really be ravaging teams that rely on a balanced attack to open up the passing game because they’ve been pretty tough to run on. If their defense has a weakness it’s their secondary. I don’t understand how they’re playing with house money…do you mean based on preseason expectations? Like they weren’t supposed to be good so who cares if they don’t win the division? That kind of thinking might work on fans but doesn’t mean anything as far as success this season goes. A loss would be absolutely devastating for them because they lost to Miami week 1 and we are undefeated in the division…not to mention Miami seemed to give them some trouble week 1 and they have them on the schedule again. A loss hurts them more than it hurts us because we get a rematch against them to get a chance to tie up the head to head and take back the division record tiebreaker and catch up a game. If they lose they likely have no chance at that division record tiebreaker as we’d have to lose to them in the rematch and dump one against the jets and they would have to beat the dolphins. They’re essentially losing two games if they lose Monday. It would look scary short term to us if we lose but if we end up splitting with them we’re catching up a game and a half in the rematch because we would own the tiebreaker
-
Miami is one of the most talented teams they’ve played all season somehow and they lost that game…chargers are decent and they just snuck by them. Something can definitely be said for winning all the layup games you’re supposed to win without blowing a game but it’s on them to prove they’re not the 2020 dolphins. I’m not gonna lose my mind over a team that beat Cleveland and Tennessee missing their entire offense much like I don’t think we’re world beaters for blowing out the banged up saints
