We don’t know how comfortable bass is with squibs though and it was a much different situation with the amount of time remaining on the clock assuming we are talking about the chiefs last drive before halftime. Big special teams play is likely how you lose in the situation we were in and the odds of that are way higher when an up man can fall on the ball at the 40 kicking it deep was the right call imo and then we blew the game for other reasons lol

Super Bowl LVI: Bengals at Rams
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I just can’t see the rams avoiding years of irrelevance after this potential Superbowl win so I guess it’s the philosophical question of do you mortgage your whole future to win 1 superbowl. Beane for better or worse is on the other side of that argument They’re mostly giving up future assets though…I feel like it just has to catch up with them. No first round picks for 7 years by the end of this and stafford will be in his mid to late 30s by then -
Don't be surprised if Josh Allen has a bumpy 2022

I don’t even think the yac is necessary…if our offensive line is just decent we are unstoppable. But unfortunately they were dreadful for most of the regular season -
When does mahomes not do all those things? Lol seems like they’re trying to convince themselves it is a one time thing but I doubt it . He gets pressured and just has to run around until hill or Kelce are open. He doesn’t ever really have to go through progressions or fit throws in tight windows because their whole offense is based on their skill position players just outrunning everybody. Yea the qb spy had a heck of a game…mahomes kept running backwards to buy himself time to turn the corner and it wasnt at all working. He had plenty of time to throw but spent it running backwards for no reason. Seems like he’s got happy feet and bails from clean pockets almost every time…we’ve just gotta do a better job spying him

Can Our D Become More Versatile in 2022? If So, How?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
Keep tre healthy and get a better CB2 also. Seems like playing man against the chiefs worked for the bengals but I don’t think we could’ve handled that with Levi/Dane starting. Tre was definitely the one guy we could not afford getting injured we just didn’t have the cb depth. -

It’s really a knock on mahomes specifically…I don’t think you can necessarily apply what op said to other qbs. His run around in circles until hill or Kelce are wide open routine just doesn’t work against that 8 man coverage with a qb spy. -

Allen has gotten the mahomes treatment and beat it plenty…that’s why he is the better qb. He doesn’t lock onto one or two guys no matter what he will go through his progressions and get everyone involved. I think next year will be an mvp season for josh…the weather has to be better than it was this year and I don’t think our offensive line will be garbage for 75% of the season He had one bad game against the jaguars imo…falcons game 2 out of those 3 picks were the right reads and seemed to be accurate throws but Beasley got held and one got tipped for an int. Jets game we absolutely obliterated them when we were driving with the wind. Jaguars game our offensive line was horrible but he’s still at fault for not protecting the football…looked like he was trying to hit big chunk plays because he knew we’d never be able to sustain a long drive -
Elite talent matters

Loll you’re still comically wrong though…why are you gonna run routes to free up diggs when Davis is absolutely embarrassing their single coverage 😂 just makes no sense…the dude had 200+ yards…josh Allen had statistically the best playoff stats of all time…We were up 3 with 13 seconds left and you’re mad we didn’t completely gut what was working to get some guy the ball all because he makes a lot of money? Haha Davis could possibly be a better receiver than diggs and we just don’t know it yet…he made clutch plays all year long -
The 13 seconds thing was nowhere near as bad as the chiefs getting no points before halftime against the bengals then blowing a huge lead if that makes you feel better haha our coaches def were not ready for that situation but it’s still not as embarrassing as we make it out to be. Chiefs can hurt you in a lot of different ways and they were set up nice after that first down play. Optics wise leaving Kelce wide open is terrible but they probably get in fg range after that first down play most of the time

Horrible take imo…what happens to offenses that come out throwing the football 100% of the game. Offensive line starts to get whooped late. Showing the run early likely opened up some of those deep throws late in the game too. Absolutely comical you want to force the ball to diggs who was likely being bracketed when Davis was obliterating them like that is truly insane to me. I didn’t say Daboll called a genius game I’m saying the defense/defensive coaching lost that game. We didn’t get a possession in OT and scored 36…that’s likely 40+ if we win the coin toss. You’re gonna fault the offense for not scoring 50 points when all the defense had to do was get 1 more stop? Especially when a stop is gift wrapped to them since there’s only 13 seconds left in the game. punts in those situations were also on coaching imo which I’d assume is McDermott not Daboll…they were both 4th and shorts. Don’t know why we’re faulting an OC for running the football against a soft cover 2 on 3rd and short lol also laughable to me. Just as likely could’ve been an incomplete pass there -

Who decides what elite talent is though. Is it the media? Cuz Harrison phillips was playing out of his mind but he’s not elite talent cuz no one at ESPN talks him up 24/7? DJ reader on the bengals has been great also but he’s not a household name so is he not elite talent? Davis was a part of the gameplan because the chiefs gameplan was to take diggs and Knox away and leave gabe in single coverage and he made them pay. Teams defend us in different ways which is why you see a different featured guy on our offense every week…that is the strength of our team. -

Like what…oh let me pass up a wide open gabe Davis because Stefon diggs is more of a household name 😂. That logic is ridiculous after seeing what the offense did that game. -
Of course I’m aggressively biased 😂 but that game painted mahomes in a new light for me…like do we ever see him throw with any anticipation into tight windows? Watching him in the playoffs it’s just like…run around in circles until Kelce or hill are wide open and if they don’t come open try to run. Credit the bengals for taking all of that away in the second half…whoever they had spying mahomes did a great job
-
Football was different back then it’s not a great way to compare qbs of old.
-
Playing the 1 and 2 seed on the road doesn’t seem great to me haha but it’s tough to say. If all went down exactly the same and they were us they would’ve only seen 1 of kc/ten. I think the bengals deserve a lot of credit on the defensive side for making tannehill and mahomes look bad in back to back weeks. Not sure that we or anyone else would’ve gotten through ten…we’ll never know.

Sean Payton on the end of the Bills-Chiefs game
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Right I think with it being the chiefs 13 seconds with 3 timeouts becomes a bit more difficult to defend. People talk about the play to Kelce but it was really the first down play that killed us. They had the ball on the 40 with 2 chances to get into fg range after that play with all their weapons and they could use the whole field. Still got outcoached badly though of course but i think if you put the chiefs in that situation they were in after that first play they’re gonna set up a reasonable fg attempt a majority of the time -
Chiefs have three generational talents on offense…I think 1 Super Bowl win for them in the past 4 years is a disappointment to that fanbase. I don’t think tyreek hill and Travis Kelce are guys you can just replace when they start to slow down also their cap situation gets trickier moving forward. This was their year to win it
-
I mean they could’ve had our spot and theoretically only seen one of the titans/chiefs lol I don’t think they sat guys to lose that game on purpose at all. They were just really banged up going into it and mixon was on the Covid list. Also full credit to the bengals for beating the chiefs…I don’t think it had anything to do with us the way that game played out. They won it with halftime adjustments after the chiefs did whatever they wanted in the first half
