Diggs 100% out muscled the contact though…so much so that the bucs defender had to tackle him before the ball got there to save the game. That was the best look we possibly could’ve asked for in that spot and the refs just hosed us. If they’re gonna get away with that they obviously are gonna hold every receiver until the pass rush gets home if we went to a different receiver. We are blessed with the power of hindsight…we say Daboll doesn’t call enough runs then he calls runs and we complain…Daboll calls too many runs why do we run at all…Daboll doesn’t hand off to a rb for a half against the best run defense in the league and we complain…Daboll calls too many deep passing routes and we don’t take what the defense is giving us…josh starts checking the ball down more setting up 3rd and mediums that we struggle to convert and people complain. Let’s give him the rest of the season before we start calling for the guys head. If the execution doesn’t improve obviously we need some kind of change. But this run that we’re criticizing him for against the pats if moss cuts that outside he’s got pretty much a sure TD so at what point is the execution on the players and not on Daboll? Hats off to our team for Sunday though that loss getting stolen from us absolutely makes me sick…best run defense in the league has free reign to hold your receivers all game long and we still do more than enough to win that is absolutely incredible to me

Pats is such a weird game to me…maybe I’m the only person that thinks this and feel free to flame away lol but I don’t think their offense was effective at all when it came to the scoreboard. If you commit to the run all game long you’re obviously gonna rip off big runs occasionally. But the pats left the door open for our offense to win the game time and time again and we absolutely sh*t the bed in the red zone/kicking fgs/diggs losing a sure td in the air that hit him perfectly in stride/Knox not being able to make a play/Breidas comically bad fumble in scoring range…we just blew absolutely everything and still had a game winning drive attempt. I think bill miscalculated badly thinking we wouldn’t be able to move the ball through the air into the wind and we bailed him out. We did everything you just can’t do against a team built like the pats in literally the first 5 minutes of the game and they still let us hang around all night -

That’s a fair point it could definitely be a trend that continues…but for me looking at the way we are losing some of these very tight games gives me hope we are going to turn it around. I’d also expect us to actually get some favorable officiating going forward because we objectively got hosed Sunday -
How to fix the reffing problem in the NFL
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve got a feeling theyd still lean the way of the big name teams that people want to see win but it’s worth a try at least lol. I’m still waiting for a controversial call to go against the bucs since Brady was there 😂 over time that’s supposed to even out and it just never seems to. Knowing Brady I’m sure he doesn’t even want his team to get help from the refs lol I don’t pin any of this on him at all It was so strange getting that late terrible roughing the passer call against you guys a couple weeks ago I totally forgot Brady wasn’t there anymore for a second hahaha it was also weird actually playing a good enough game against a Brady led team to be able to complain about the refs 🤣 that’s pretty rare for us lol Mocap suits for all players lol -
I think the players deserve some of the blame Daboll is getting…lots of these games have been lost because big game changing plays are just being executed terribly. Some of it has been bad luck as well…guys slipping/josh stepping out of bounds by inches/refs forgetting how to throw penalty flags. I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if we turned it on just in time. We have lost two games against top tier teams by literally several inches They were a mess and backed into the playoffs at 9-7. First time around if we beat them in week 17 we would’ve knocked them out of the playoffs entirely.
-
Yea watching that I was wondering if he had the speed to turn the corner on that play…guess we’ll never know. We’ve actually been pretty decent running the football this year but some of these afc teams are just built perfectly to pound the run that we pale in comparison. Every week when I see the top rbs stats compared on the ESPN game preview I am surprised by how many yards singletary has lol
-
We are not Philly though and we have struggled in the red zone all year long…on top of that our qb had an injured foot so he likely struggles to evade pressure or pick up the first with his legs if the play breaks down. Fg was the right call there imo. If they planned on it being 4 down territory maybe you surprise them with a run on 3rd but that bucs front 7 is so good they could be badly outschemed and still win their matchups. Keep in mind we outscored the bucs 21-3 in the second half when that decision was being made…you’ve gotta like your chances in overtime then. Tennessee game the flow of the game was very different…we could not stop the titans late in that game if our lives depended on it and they couldn’t really stop us so it was truly a coin flip who was likely to win that one if it goes to OT McDermott is taking a lot of flak for in game decision making when he is getting nearly everything right because we just can’t make the big play to win a game (doesn’t apply to the TB game we were robbed in that one) I loved the challenge in the NE game to stop the clock and potentially force the pats to attempt a fg into the wind at the end of the 3rd that was a double whammy of a great time to stop the clock and maybe it’s your lucky day and that play gets overturned. I doubt NE even attempts that fg if we hold them there in the 3rd then you’re down 1 heading into the 4th

Yea I think our dline rotation has been more successful than we make it seem…normally when a defense is on the field the whole first half the effectiveness in the second drops significantly but we seem to get better as the game goes on Yea as fans it’s easy for us to say to go for it but the playbook is pretty thin when they know you wouldn’t dare run there…I’m not sure a team that consistently runs the ball with some success even attempts a run there against the bucs front. not to mention they were holding our receivers all game long and passing windows get very tight down there in the red zone. I think 70/30 we get stopped on that 4th and 3…I actually loved going to diggs on that one one one matchup the play before too it’s pretty rare you’re going to get a wide open receiver that deep in the red zone and he definitely out muscled the defender and won his matchup…of course he was dragged down by his jersey though and the rest is history. Any passing play we drew up was likely going to be a receiver making a difficult contested catch so why wouldn’t you want to go to your best player one on one with a mediocre at best defensive back.
-
I’m not gonna tell you you’re wrong but it was ‘not one carry with a rb’ and just about everyone that plays the bucs abandons the run because that’s playing right into the strength of their defense. Certainly there’s plenty of evidence to criticize Daboll at this point though without a doubt but a lot of it comes down to execution…every time we have a chance to win a huge game someone’s foot slips or someone drops a pass or someone commits an awful holding penalty or the rules just stop applying to for the opposing defense… he’s probably just as frustrated as we are lol
-
I still have no clue what’s going to happen…weather definitely hurt the pats too I’m sure they would’ve preferred not running the ball every play and giving us ample chances to win the game on offense late lol seems like a tossup type game that’s gonna come down to the turnover battle. It would be wonderful if Matt Breida doesn’t fumble the ball in scoring range to open the game this time lol

Can someone explain this idea of finesse football to me lol this one still baffles me…is that a synonym for we haven’t been playing well in the trenches? Cuz there’s not a lot of finesse about a team who’s qb is barreling head first into you 10 times a game and letting them try to man up our receivers lol Statistically we aren’t even bad at running the football it seems like as a point of pride people are requiring it to come from rbs exclusively or it doesn’t count though. If this offensive line stops blowing a handful of blocking assignments per game we are going to light teams up. I see these close losses as more bad luck that will even out than anything. I can definitely see us turning it around Maybe this is a hot take from me that I’m going to get flamed for idk…but belichicks gameplan in that first matchup against us was absolute dogsh*t in my opinion and we bailed him out by shooting ourselves in the foot on offense in all the key moments. Belichick was all in on the ‘they won’t be able to move the ball on my defense into the wind’ train and was intent on just running and punting on offense…then we get in the red zone twice in the 4th quarter and I’m sure he was sweating bullets. It will benefit him big time in the rematch though for sure. They crossed midfield three times for Christ’s sake people are talking like they beat us by 40. They don’t get extra style points for running the ball every play.
-
He was getting whooped in pass protection early last game but then again who wasn’t lol he seems to frequently demolish people while run blocking though for sure He’s made a long list of clutch plays this season too…I think we just want a scapegoat for our team not living up to its potential and football is a really tough sport to do that because all the position groups are so dependent on each other
-
Because we had a bad first half you automatically are not allowed to win because games end at halftime around here 😂 doesn’t matter we won the second half 24-3(cmon it was really 28-3) because the bucs defense was just letting us score since they had a big lead I’ve been told. Still waiting on their explanation for why we don’t get credit for holding the most infamous qb for running up the score with the best offensive roster in the league to only 3 points in the second half though
-
Yea gb got hosed last year when there was considerably less bucs hype train. Then kc kind of got screwed in the superbowl because they completely changed the rules on their defense. Granted bucs would’ve won that game anyway but it still left a pretty bad taste in peoples mouths I think. Then what happens week 1 of the new season…Godwin gets away with an absurd push off on the game winning play to beat Dallas. If officials are just human and it’s supposed to even out…where are the controversial calls costing the bucs games?
-
They’re tough to evaluate this season because our offensive line has been so bad…sanders looks like he can still play at a high level to me he just isn’t really getting opportunities and doesn’t have that same level of rapport that gabe Davis does with josh. Knox has been great outside of the pats game which was a pretty difficult night to catch the ball in to begin with. I think gabe is very underrated he has quietly been making very clutch plays all year The dislike of gabe is probably the one thing in this board I am most confused by…he seems to provide a spark every time he comes in. I think sanders can be good too once him and josh feel each other out more but I’m still very confident with gabe at wr2. Not to mention we’ve got Beasley and McKenzie and Knox too. We definitely don’t have the best wr duo in the nfl but it’s gotta be one of the deepest most complete wr rooms out there
-
Yea Tennessee got snakebit by injuries or the afc looks a lot different. I’d put the full strength titans and chiefs right up there with the best in the nfc. I think the cardinals are a bit overrated and the rams are probably a tier below GB/TB. afc is weird though matchup wise because the competitive teams are all built so drastically differently. We probably match up better in the nfc somehow despite the teams being better lol
-
Yea not only was that not at all pi…it was a very heads up play by Levi to avoid pi knowing they are probably gonna call it on him for an awful throw like that. That was dangerously close to OPI if Levi turns around and tries to make a play on the ball but he rightly focused on avoiding the dpi They also cheekily eliminated bucs holding penalties along their offensive line with holds called in our secondary giving Brady another shot at the down on multiple occasions. Absolutely objectively an unforgivable game for the refs…if you’re gonna let them play let both teams play.
-
Yea at face value I’d agree but when you look at how that game was trending I’d say we had the edge in OT. The titans game felt different to me…titans were absolutely moving the ball at will to close out regulation so I don’t blame McDermott for either decision. And we all know they just would’ve held all our receivers on a 4th and 2 anyway lol
-
That makes a ton of sense if you assume the bills are in the playoffs…kc is definitely a team it would be nice to see knocked out in the first round. Still pretty salty they got the Aaron rodgers-less packers on their schedule. Whenever we get injury riddled/Covid effected teams it seems to always be a team we’d beat anyway lol
-
Right I’m with you on that one…if Indy wins we pretty much have to beat NE because the division title track becomes the only path we have legitimate control over. Right now if we go 3-1 with a loss to NE we would technically need some help to get in but it would take a lot going wrong to keep us out. A lot of these afc contenders have brutal schedules down the stretch it seems like kc plays all of them lol sucks we didn’t get that call Sunday night…a win there and were in a good spot wildcard wise and can absolutely root for a NE loss next week

Idk they came up big enough to dominate that second half against the best offense in the league…it’s not like the bucs were trying to run out the clock on offense in the second half. we really did more than enough to win that game in regulation my opinion and it’s pretty criminal we took the loss. I do think part of it has to do with the dline rotation. Offensive players are gassing out and we’ve got relatively fresh guys coming in all game so the bills start to take some of the momentum back late.
