  1. right the titans slip i believe daboll and josh are both on record saying josh has the option to run whenever he wants and that it was his decision...same thing happened on that 4th and 1 outside run in the second pats game.
  2. 'a unicorn in the linebacker world with ridiculous speed that takes away the most space since one of the best linebackers of all time' is absolutely high praise lol Edmunds struggles at times but we are asking a ton out of him...i think you can take an established veteran from another team and dump him in edmunds' slot and he would likely struggle even more.
  3. how much does regular season record really impact playoff success though if we end up winning the division anyway? most people on here seem like they want our playoff games on the road anyway. were playing all those good teams next year because we won the division.
  4. i still think the wind game was a net disadvantage for the pats but we executed so poorly on so many plays that most people wont see it that way. wind certainly didnt cause breida to drop a handoff right in his gut...that was a minimum 3 points early on just thrown away. pats crossed midfield 3 times and won the game...our starting field position was better than midfield a decent amount of times.
  5. looks like nobody really disagrees with that much...its more that inconsistency was at an all time high this year league-wide so its kind of odd picking on individual teams.
  6. i dont really understand the logic. they cant stop the run when they know the team is going to run the ball to run out the clock? They are giving up 4.5 yards per attempt when you factor in attempts... a lot of which like you say is when they know the run is coming...that is nowhere close to good. thats worse than our supposedly terrible rush defense.
  7. analytics is based on probabilities...the chance of him making the kick was lower than the chance of them picking up the first down if the holding penalty was accepted on 2nd down (if im remembering the situation correctly lol) Analytics doesnt say things like 'this kicker is definitely gonna miss the kick' . Maybe in the alternate reality where we accept the penalty they pick up the first down and score 7 on us theres just no way to know now.
  8. 6th best rushing offense helmed by a qb with an absolute cannon vs 32nd best rushing defense....yes total crapshoot.
  9. Pats played the same-ish easy schedule or easier though so the easiness of the schedule doesnt really factor in to winning the division. lot of weird stuff this season due to guys missing time with covid and the reduced cap league-wide
  10. I don’t know that that’s always true…couldn’t play much better than he did in the titans loss . That one was entirely on the defense. Games like the jags that is certainly true for though
  11. I felt that way at first about an odd number of games being weird…but the nfl season is so few games to begin with that I think an extra game gives better teams that maybe didn’t start off so hot an extra week to set themselves apart. Maybe we’ll end up with less terrible teams occupying the lower wildcard slots
  12. i dont hate it...four preseason games was a bit ridiculous. Compromise wouldve been starting the actual NFL season a week earlier to make up for the extra week tacked on the end. Seeing an extra NFC team during the regular season every year is kind of interesting...gives you more rivalry chances as youre playing the team that finished in the same placement as you within their own division. so now we'll see the cowboys twice as much as normal probably. next year we'll get the rams again as our extra game.
  13. Very good points...which is why it drives me crazy when people cite PFF ratings as gospel with regards to our team lol I dont think PFF does a great job quantifying individual defense player's contribution to our defensive scheme.
  14. It all comes back to Bruce Arians no matter how anyone feels about the details of who is more to blame in my opinion. He decided Antonio Brown is a good fit for the team I dont think he has any right to play the 'antonio brown is mentally deranged' card now. Hes a bad coach that pushes enough of the wrong buttons that was just lucky enough to helm a good enough roster to lure Brady. If Brady goes to SF, the chargers, or bears Arians is a nobody.
  15. Jets put up a good fight against TB missing pretty much all their skill position players. Gronk is about the only starter they have left and hes playing with a heap of injuries as always. I just dont see how they can slow us down.
  16. Kind of a double edged sword though…as the only reason a lot of those were one score games was because of an insanely impressive effort by josh. If he wasn’t playing close to mvp levels a lot of those one score games become blowout losses.
  17. i also have a car with performance tires (a much much cheaper car of course lol) and i totally wouldve gone for it in that little amount of snow too. so im gonna defend the guy before the 'why is he driving that' posts start coming in 😄
  18. hmm i must be forgetting a year? 98 and 99 we lost in the wild card round both on the road...then we lost in 2017 in jacksonville....then 2019 in houston both wild card round. and last year we had some home playoff games in front of like 10% capacity. ohhh jaguars in 96...i was pretty close haha making '95 last time we won a home playoff game at full capacity if my calculations are correct
  19. I think it’s luck more than anything…looking at the other teams a majority of them are .500 in close games pretty independently of whether they are a good or bad team. It’s also not like we are beating only bad teams by two+ scores and losing close games to all the good teams…we dismantled the chiefs and comfortably beat the pats
  20. Playing linebacker in this scheme would be super tough for anyone. I don’t think the fans are as understanding of that as the coaching staff is.
  21. I think he’s about the same in that regard when the situation calls for it…if he can pick up a crucial first down he is flying through the air lol so sad he came up inches short on that leap against the titans that would’ve been epic
  22. Was that the last time we had a home playoff game with a full crowd?
  23. I was out following the gamecast on the ESPN app and expected him to be much worse than he was when I actually got around to watching the game. Quite a few drops and a good amount of bad luck. Pretty questionable officiating on the second pick too. Reminded me of the first pats game last season where the run game was humming so he didn’t get many passing attempts to make up for some tough breaks.
  24. I think he’s saying people are electing to go to a potential home playoff game instead. I was originally going to drive up for the jets game and gambled on the playoff game when we beat the pats
