The Tyreek trade is a home run. He's totally changed that team by himself. Look at how good he's made that offense with an extremely limited QB in Tua. They get just an above average, top 12-15 talent QB and they can be a real threat. There could be some guys available for them via trade or free agent signings. And still, worst case scenario, with an average to below average QB they do still seem to be at worst a WC team and they certainly have the fire power to pull off one of those Any Given Sunday upsets.
You don’t trade 5 picks for tyreek and a first rounder for Bradley Chubb to be a fringe playoff team with a chance at an ‘any given Sunday’ upset lol that’s literally my point. They traded more than a full draft in trade value for just two players. Tyreek is an amazing player but that is a win now type move when they are not even close to the best team in the AFC. They just don’t have the resources to shore up the defense now and replace some of their big contracts with rookie deals. They don’t have any cap space as it stands either.
a tyreek trade like that would’ve been a good trade for someone, just not the dolphins. They must’ve thought their defense was much further along than it is. They are at or below flores win/loss levels now despite being more exciting on offense and trading away a ton of resources for much better players than Flores had. It’s honestly pretty embarrassing. People seem to be blinded by a fun offense though.
the offensive scheme is also kind of gimmicky and busted…I don’t think there’s really a journeyman qb that can run it any better than tua. A volume quick passing/ timing offense revolving around freeing up receivers in the middle of the field comes with a lot lower margin for error than people seem to think. One overthrow and you’re pretty much cooked which is what we saw yesterday.
It’s early in mcdaniel’s career so it could go either way, but the dolphins are a lot closer to full rebuild needed than Super Bowl candidate imo

I’ve read that if Jets lose to Seattle and we beat the Pats* then the Fish are in. If that’s true, it’s a very plausible scenario.
As for Miami, they’ve got 3 elite guys in Hill, Waddle, and Armstead. They’ve got a very good DT in Wilkins even though he’s a douche, and a solid DE in Phillips. That’s it.
Their offense has been figured out. Cover deep, clog the middle and don’t let Hill/Waddle take over. Force Tua off his first read by pressure or taking it away. That’s it. Their D is trash, DBs over-rated, LBs are meh.
Pats get in if it’s a 3 way tie between Miami,NYJ,NE at 8-9 and pit doesn’t win out which is also somewhat plausible. NE and NYJ both control their own destiny it looks like…if they win out either one can get in. Miami making the playoffs is far from a sure thing. There’s also a decent chance buffalo has nothing to play for week 18 depending on the scheduling of the games and how we do vs cincy
Seattle isn’t very good and that jets defense is gonna give tua trouble so ya never know

Or apparently one does.
Just look at what the fans at Fin Heaven are saying. Tua can't play consistently well enough beyond his first read. That's a long-term problem in the NFL. Miami is loaded with talent on offense and for the majority of games the Dolphins play Tua can get by against the lesser teams and that likely means a WC for the Fins. But they have no hope of reaching a Super Bowl with a one read QB that can't throw outside the numbers consistently.
That’s why the tyreek trade never made sense to me…it’s a win now move and they will not put the pieces together until tyreek is on the decline. No draft picks to turn over the roster now either

I totally called the Flores being a vastly underrated defensive coach but I didn’t even think they’d fall off that much with him gone 😂.

Your not wrong at all- the Jets are toast though if they don't get White back -i feel like the last few weeks is going to be interesting on how that seed plays out and I'm willing to enjoy anyone of them getting beat by KC during our bye- Go Bills and Happy Holidays
That jets defense might give Miami some problems…I’ve gotta think they roll with Flacco if white can’t go who is not good but an upgrade from Wilson for sure. Seattle is pretty bad and Lockett might not play again with a broken finger.

They stil have the 7th seed and best chance of still making playoffs
Jets control their own destiny though…that’s a pretty big thing for Miami to lose the handle on. Also if the bills lose to cincy and ne beats Miami, Buffalo essentially gets to choose who gets in the playoffs between ne and Miami. Pretty decent shot that game gets flexed so we’d know if the bengals hung onto the 2 seed or not before we even played.
obviously if we beat cincy though we won’t be considering anything like that

I’m still amazed that they think that Kohou hold in the bills game was a blown call lol McKenzie beat the jam and Kohou held his jersey for like 15 total yards to avoid getting smoked 😂

So we're now 4 games ahead over the course of 15 games and the Fins have a negative point differential for the season. Is the division still a toss up for years to come?
It was all a mirage based on scheduling…the nfl knew what they were doin with those afc east schedules. Give the bills all away division games before any home ones then Miami a cupcake schedule midseason

That trade for Chubb isn’t looking so hot at the moment with no first rounder this year.
They’re well on their way to needing a full defensive rebuild…they’ll try firing the DC first. That will be the scapegoat move if they miss the playoffs

We should be careful. The Fish ii feel are a loaded roster and well coached. I’m watching Baker Mayfield beat up on the Broncos on another well coached team.
Tua could easily be replaced and Miami is instantly a very good team.
They really don’t have any resources to draft a qb and that defense has a lot of talent but they’re playing like trash. Their defensive coordinator is in way over his head. They can try to sign a big time free agent to play qb but they’ve got that huge tyreek contract and waddle will need to get payed in a couple years.

The guy is clearly just throwing to spots where he expects his first read to be…he can’t make any adjustments based on what’s going on mid play. Even when it was working it was pretty evident what was going on. They just got ‘lucky’ and had all their games against teams with weak defenses that were huge mismatches in a row. He’ll be a career backup in a few years

Darrell with some excellent analysis there. About the timing-based offense.
Tua is a college qb…he’s a one read guy that’s just throwing to a spot on the field. Been sayin it for weeks now. Dolphins gonna try to upgrade at qb im guessing but they don’t have a lot of resources

His players like him, and that’s what matters, not guys opinions on the internet. I understand not liking him as the coach of the Fish, but he’s been a good fit for them. I’m not sure how people can argue against that.
The players liked Rex Ryan 😂
Mcdaniel has been a good offensive coach for the phins. He seems to have run a talented defense straight into the ground though. Not sure if it’s his DC or what but if they aren’t lights out in the red zone on offense they’re gonna struggle. Tuas got nearly 300 yards at half time and GB is in the game still.
-
Seems like the dolphins offensive concepts only work in space and with how potent their offense is in between the 20s, they really struggle in the red zone. The chiefs have as much speed and even less skill position talent and they seem way better in the red zone

Idk I think the results to this one are pretty important imo…played the number 1 rushing offense in a bad weather game and ran them out of the building. josh will be fine but the rush defense/tackling has been a little shaky so that was good to see

Yes we did and we won in a fashion we supposedly couldn't, with 2 thoroughbreds. The sky is falling no more. Well.......at least for 1 week that is.😂
The goalpost moves by some of the negative posters always makes me chuckle…all week it was ‘we can’t run or stop the run, fields is great this is a trap game’ and we blow them out but it’s still not good enough lol
seems like some people would’ve preferred if josh went off but we won a close one which makes no sense to me

People will one day learn that the weather hurts both teams but almost always the team without josh Allen more lol it’s not gonna be pretty on a windy day with wind chills below zero usually. There’s a lot of positives to take out of today too

I've seen/heard this tendency discussed before, and it's a really interesting one. So, thank you.
However, I think it actually SUPPORTS my observation about Allen trying to force the issue against certain coverages. It DOES, admittedly, provide a reason for WHY Allen might be feeling the pressure to make something happen, but that in no way absolves our QB of the original sin of falling into a defense's coverage trap. That forbidden downfield apple is so alluring, ESPECIALLY when the Bills are behind the sticks. It's human nature for a gunslinger like Josh. And that's when he often gets into trouble.
Oh yea I agree with all that…I was just trying to say that it’s likely going to sort itself out down the stretch. Last year played out pretty similarly where the offensive line was brutal for a big part of the regular season. I think josh has been in the worst situation compared to the rest of the elite qbs this season

This is how you beat Josh IF he plays into it, as he did a handful of times today, and used to do too often in the past.
It's the main regression we've seen this season: Allen has these maddening stretches where he gets stuck on what he WANTS to do on a given play, and either forces it into coverage or takes too long to check it down (and does so with sloppy/hurried mechanics and misses the layups). Both of these tendencies have resulted in turnovers.
Against KC this season, on the contrary, Allen (and the offense) patiently took what the defense gave them, which includes attacking downfield the few times they got the single high safety/man/pressure looks.
There were glimpses of this today against an undertalented, but well coached, defense. But those glimpses were interrupted too frequently by impatient and sloppy blunders from #17.
I think it’s a bit disingenuous to pin it all on ‘josh just wants to hit big plays’. When you’re getting holding calls against your offensive line consistently throughout the game, sustaining long drives becomes very difficult. When the offensive line pass blocks well, he hits all the throws. It seems like the big mistakes he’s made this year have pretty much immediately followed a holding call
if the pass blocking improves I think a lot of the issues fix themselves…of course that’s a big if though 😂

This is how you beat Josh. It was well done today and the bears lacked the quality of players to execute it. On offense they didn't have an answer for our defense.
Our defense is better than Cincis and designed to stop their kind of offense. They'll have luck running against us, they'll attack and look for weaknesses in penalty calls and scheme breakdowns. A lot will depend on the refs. Tre will play very physical when allowed.
But back to offense - Cinci needs to bring the pressure up the middle. Do this over and over again. Eventually Spencer Brown will be beat on the outside and give up a bad play and possibly contribute to a turnover. 3 guys with two attacking inside the 5s and 1 outside beyond 6. Delay your linebacker to key off our RBs and Josh. This puts it all on Josh.
Further, no one talks about it but our runners are not smart players able to mix up the coverage. The once decent pass blocking Singleterry has struggled. The others can't block at all. Our full backs need to be used better, along with our ends.
I'll keep thinking on it but for Cinci this isn't a hard matchup for them on defense because their offense has talent. Overrated talent, however... IMO.
I find it difficult saying Chicago did a good job when they sold out in pass coverage and got absolutely steamrolled on the ground. I know they’re not a good team but 250+ rushing yards allowed is straight up embarrassing. Your gameplan is broken if youre giving up 200+ rushing yards especially in a windy/freezing cold game. They should’ve been loading up against the run

Thankfully we played a horrendous team
I still don’t really buy this…you put a great team in terrible weather and they don’t look as good…that’s the way it works. That weather should’ve leveled the playing field for the bears a bit but they got run out of the building.
If we were playing a good team in this they would’ve looked sloppy also most likely.

We score more points, allow less points, gain more yards per game, allow less yards per game. I don’t find this line surprising

I missed the 4th quarter. What was the deal with the TD pass with a minute left? Were they running it up?
I think most teams do that trying not to run it up actually…we just happened to end up scoring the td. Fg in that spot feels worse somehow

Brian Daboll
in The Stadium Wall
Posted · Edited by Generic_Bills_Fan
In what way? Daboll was with our team last year playing an easier schedule with an offensive line that was a little better than this year and he achieved about the same results. I’d argue that Dorsey has been more consistent honestly, there were a few games every season where the offense was just godawful for 4 quarters under Daboll and we haven’t seen that this season. We’re a few unforced errors away from being undefeated this year
this is your classic ‘the grass is always greener’ situation.
if we were playing kc’s schedule we are easily the best offense in the league statistically.
