Bills @ Chargers post game thread
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
I missed a brief portion of the game having to pick up some stuff for a Christmas party…haha but the ‘missed wide open receivers’ that I saw was Josh having to throw off his back foot under pressure which is easier said than done. Ironically he made an absolutely huge play on the final drive doing just that so I’d say he more than redeemed himself a lot of times the broadcast angle makes throws look easier than they really are too because you don’t get to see what the passing lanes look like. There was another one where he had a guy open but had to throw the ball around a DLs arm. Kincaid still could’ve caught it but it wasn’t an easy catch. A view from behind the qb would be a lot more helpful in that regard -

I can’t claim to know how players feel but if you play hard and get beat up in a huge game then have one less day to recover and a cross country trip I could see coming out flat. I think it’s more about player recovery than getting to practice…guys were flying all over the field in that cowboys game and we didn’t see a lot of that last night I think they base their simulations on ELO ratings…I stumbled into a page explaining their methodology once but I doubt I’ll ever find it again 😂 -

It’s crazy that if you just pick the cowboys beating the dolphins without picking any other games the bills playoff odds don’t really increase at all in the nyt simulator haha. Seems like their simulations see the wildcard as the easier path now on that second point I think people might assume you’re talkin about a time zone change or something but really it’s about recovery time. Short week and you’ve gotta jam into a plane to fly cross country doesn’t seem optimal when the other team on a short week doesn’t have to do anything special. I’d be really interested to see the home vs road overall win percentage on short weeks -
I mean maybe you didn’t realize that that’s what you said? lol the gist was ‘people that think we can win it all are gonna be disappointed’ aka I can see things that the average person can’t because of my foresight that the bills won’t do something that is extremely extremely difficult for even the best roster to do and notoriously takes some good fortune. I see this around here a good amount…there’s nothing wrong with being critical at all but people around here are like no chance we beat the chiefs or cowboys we are screwed then we do and the retort is …well we won’t win the Super Bowl and people think that somehow validates all their negative opinions if they’re right 😂 a handful of good teams that could’ve won it all don’t every season. If you had said something like ‘the bills won’t make it out of the first round’ that’s at least a fairly bold statement with some substance. But saying a team won’t win the superbowl is essentially meaningless…even someone like the ravens is only 14% or so to win it right now so if you said ‘x team won’t win the superbowl’ about any afc team you’d probably be very safe.

That could possibly be a bills fan only thing? I heard a lot of people saying it had the feel of a trap game and the bills need to be careful. I read a lot of the betting picks type sites though so maybe that’s why I saw that lol There were actually a few posters here that said we never play well on the west coast now that I think about it. I think the biggest piece that made people nervous was the bills having a short week and having to travel cross country…I mean you may say that’s an excuse too but the way I’ve heard players talk about how much recovery time they need in interviews it sounds like that could be a big deal. I think it’s fair to say it shouldn’t have been that close but at the same time I don’t think that not great play will carry over to future games
-
I mean it’s a real thing so I think you went a little too hard on him haha interim coaches have a winning record and they all took over for coaches that got fired And look at someone like Josh Dobbs who went off for a few games before there was film of him in the minny offense then he got absolutely destroyed and promptly benched obviously you’re entitled to call it whatever you want it’s certainly up to personal interpretation

I didn’t miss that point I just disagreed with another point you made in the same post 😂

I think his only chance is absolutely obliterating the dolphins single handedly lol

Kickers are 26/27 in FGs against us this year
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall
Every time someone says we got lucky in the giants game this year I’m like ‘have you watched the rest of the season?’ 😂 He had two pretty good games in a row…today looked like a step backwards though -

Obligatory weekly how the heck was luck involved in the TB game post 😂. I apologize this is gonna be a rant not directed at you personally I’ve just read this so many times now from all different people lol Lucky a Hail Mary where no receivers even knew where the ball was wasn’t completed? were we not unlucky that tb took a deep shot and caught a silly deflected pass td on the previous drive? Are we not unlucky that teams have made 26/27 field goals against us this season? Are we not unlucky that any ball that grazes a defender is somehow intercepted? Lol all these other games I watch I’m seeing defenders drop balls that hit them right in the chest. Are we not unlucky that courtland Sutton and that dude on the eagles that I don’t even remember the name of caught absolute prayers of tds against us? Are we not unlucky that obvious late penalties against the jets and pats weren’t called which led directly to losses? Are we not unlucky that bass has missed three makeable fgs in three close losses? yea we got a gift in the giants game but the bad luck has far outnumbered the good this season imo…we’ve gotta be one of the unluckiest teams in the nfl this year -
Idk what time period you’re saying nothing has changed from specifically…early in the year we were destroying people then we were vastly outmatched on the defensive side after losing Daquan, tre white, Matt Milano, and I believe Ed Oliver was out for that pats loss also. If you’re saying nothing has changed since that low point in the season I vehemently disagree 😂. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion though. 2-1 vs kc and Dallas with a loss after an absolute missile of a fg in the rain vs philly showed me this team can succeed in the playoffs. I don’t think a close win on a short week cross country road trip takes much away from that especially with Daquan and AJE and Micah Hyde returning soon

I don’t think I did 😂. There’s a good version of the team and a bad version of the team (literally every team has good and bad games) and if the bad version shows up we are screwed (can say that about literally any team) If the good version shows up we can beat anybody. my counter point is the good version has shown up far more than the bad recently and we found a way to win today when things didn’t go our way so I am questioning heavily the ‘we can lose to any team’ part of your post…low floor is crazy too we are in every game I mean I get this whole boogeyman argument of wow we struggled against x team just wait until we see insert superbowl contender but we have showed up for those games
-
If almost losing or losing to a bad team disqualified you from the superbowl nobody would ever win it lol we’re going back a month and a half to when we blew a winnable game to show our team could lose to anybody after a close win?
-
I love these ‘I’m smarter than other people because I’m predicting a team won’t win the superbowl’ type posts lol. Winning the superbowl is extremely difficult in a single game elimination playoff structure even for the best team in the league…it’s not exactly a bold prediction that any individual team won’t win it 😂 Every year a team wins the superbowl that had some amount of fans posting about how they had no chance of winning it

It’s not so much whether our penalties were accurate…it’s more that the other team is also committing egregious penalties and consistently getting away with it imo there should’ve been a handful of holds called on the chargers if that morse flag was how tight they were calling it. But singled out yea that hold on Morse looked like it could’ve gone either way Blatant ineligible man downfield 😂. Still one of the most absurd flag pickups in nfl history -

I try not to be the complain about the ref guy but mannn was that what it felt like like if you wanna take away one first down pickup with a ticky tack oline penalty yea ok…but two in a row? 😂. -

I think it’s a lot higher than that with the cincy loss tonight and around 80% if Cleveland beats Houston tomorrow -
Josh Allen Needs Way More Pass Attempts
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it was mostly turnovers that cost us here and one drive stolen by the refs…that fumbled punt, cook fumble, and back to back penalties on the oline nonsense cost us three drives This board takes plays like that for granted on a regular basis.. he missed a backpedaling flat footed throw earlier to an open guy and everyone grumbled but he more than redeemed himself with this one -
The coaches are coaching for their jobs and the players are playing for their next contract so yes. Who is ‘they’ that accepted their failure lol. They fired a head coach that was terrible…it will help the team if anything

They had less yards though and less than 300 yards of offense…only made it to the red zone twice and got held to a fg on the two yard line. There are a lot of stats going against the chargers in this one too -

I mean the way they closed out tonight was just about perfectly executed…under 30 seconds no timeouts is really really tough. People can decry 13 seconds all they want but the chiefs had 3 timeouts there which let them use the whole field. If you were the head coach and you opened up the playbook and josh threw an incompletion on that last series we’d all be posting on here about how you should be fired 😂. Remember the giants game where we had Knox open to ice the game and it went incomplete then the giants should’ve driven down and won?
