  1. They’re really 0-3 getting late game stops the last 3 weeks but got bailed out by the refs against the giants. It’s getting a little ridiculous like I know there’s injuries but you can’t get one of those stops? I think that’s a pretty low bar only silver lining is we’ve looked pretty decent against the run even missing Ed/Daquan
  2. I don’t think he’s regressed I think he’s just having more games where he and the oline aren’t helpin eachother out. He had some absolute stinkers in the Daboll days when that was the case as well ala the 6-9 loss to the jags. Daboll got out when stuff got really hairy in the trenches, he missed the year of saffold and brown playing like garbage at the same time lol. And this year it looks like morse is cooked and Dawkins has taken a step or two back from the Daboll days. Josh is def gonna have to find ways to improve for sure but he was just as bad if not worse under these conditions in previous years so I wouldn’t say he’s trending downwards a lot of offenses have been struggling this season but with the great teams which I am sure we were one of pre all those defensive injuries, the defense bails the offense out when needed To go further than that, the actual situation of the interception matters a lot too. A 60 yard bomb on third down that goes for a pick really doesn’t hurt strategically at all and is way more benign than throwing a pick on your own side of the field I think about half of his turnovers have not been very impactful
  3. Idk how much a player new to the roster would contribute before playoff time so we’re still gonna have to gut out a playoff run even if we make a trade.
  4. I’m not a film expert by any means but it looks like the qb spy/pocket getting wrecked straight up the middle without the defense having to commit too many extra resources has been limiting his scramble opportunities. I also doubt they’re telling him ‘don’t scramble if it’s there’
  5. It’s definitely a little of both so I don’t disagree with that either. Instant pressure up the middle without even having to blitz seems pretty frequent now and you’ve got 3 linemen in your lap and no throwing lanes I think edge pressure is a little easier to deal with because it isn’t really obscuring your vision or messing up throwing lanes he absolutely passes up plays he should take and the oline has been bad though both are certainly true. If morse turns it around I think it’s gonna clean up a lot…feels like he’s getting tossed around the last few weeks
  6. It’s not even the amount of injuries I feel like we’re on par with other teams there, it’s that the injuries just found the most important players on defense lol idk if we could’ve picked more impactful players for them to happen to on defense if we tried
  7. Offenses are getting massacred by defensive lines this year it seems like…even with the nfl turning a blind eye to pretty obvious holds
  8. It’s def much improved from a physical skill perspective but they are getting outschemed badly the last few weeks it seems i think that time to throw comes with a huge asterisk…there’s def times he holds it too long for sure or misses a hot read but there’s also many times that instant pressure forces him to run around like a lunatic for 5 seconds. If we had an average qb back there the time to throw numbers would be much worse and the sacks would be much higher
  9. It’s easier to create but how often does that hypothetical team play in the Super Bowl? Maybe you can count the eagles nick foles Super Bowl as that although that was kind of forced due to an injury they were still paying another qb. Great pass blocking has felt like the constant for me in very successful teams. Cincy is up and down based on how those guys are playing up front as are we. Kc is always near the leagues best in pass blocking, Detroit has been near the leagues best since they went on their tear midseason last year, philly is near the leagues best, baltimores offensive line is playing well this season. not to say josh is blameless by any means but qbs start to spiral/lose confidence when they are frequently under pressure and they start second guessing everything which causes the mistakes to pile up. I think we made a solid attempt at building our roster by the appropriate model it just hasn’t worked out so far…a sure thing wr, sure handed slot ‘receiver’ that can move the chains, solid investments in the offensive line, qb that can elevate a few role players, defense that has a few game changers that can get the big stops in the playoffs. things have been going sideways the last few weeks though. morse looks washed which is causing immense pressure on the interior. defense lost literally all its gamechanging players. Qb is overwhelmed and losing confidence. There’s a lot of things that are causing bad play to snowball right now and nobody trusts the other units to bail them out I went on a wild tangent haha but I think the odds of making a superbowl is a very long shot without 1-2 great receivers and a qb that can turn broken plays into huge gains and elevate the 3rd or 4th wr options. 49ers will always be consistent with purdy but I don’t think they’ll ever win it.
  10. The context gets lost when we’re losing and spiraling on this board. Josh absolutely misses reads and doesn’t set the correct protections at times and misses throws but all the great qbs do. People just don’t dig into the film of other teams much playing in non bills games can he improve absolutely, does he have inherent flaws that put him way behind other top qbs…I don’t think so
  11. I wonder if niners fans are saying the opposite right now haha. They just lost to a Justin Jefferson-less Vikings team and the pj walker browns so they’re goin through it also right now 😂 A win ahead of us with easily the best roster in the nfl. Kirk cousins curse means they ain’t appearing in the superbowl too haha nobody has ever lost to Kirk cousins and made a superbowl in the same year
  12. I don’t think he’s regressing…he’s had these issues forever but he’s been playing under ideal circumstances in the regular season a much higher percentage of the time up until this point. I think he’s actually playing a little bit better under these circumstances than before honestly. Usually when his internal clock gets scrambled like it has been and he loses confidence we are absolutely dreadful Somehow quoted myself and can’t delete it 😂
  13. I agree with a lot of this, the average time to throw was a bit inflated by a handful of jailbreak scenarios where he had to run around like an idiot though. the giants game felt a lot more like josh was a victim than this one to me. I think the delayed blitzes the last few weeks have him rattled and he’s completely lost faith in his internal clock it all kind of goes hand in hand, if the offensive line holds up a little better josh will improve and if josh plays a little better the offensive line will improve
  14. Seems like when we’re being pessimistic we compare our players/coaches/gm to a hypothetical perfect team but even the great teams miss pretty often. if epenesa has truly turned it around beane has drafted as well as any other competitor drafting in the late rounds. Kincaid and Torrence look good(Torrence had a bad game last game but I wouldn’t panic yet), Dorian Williams looks like he’s got a nose for the football he just has to work on his tackling Elam was a bust but cook and Bernard look good. Shakir the jury is still out on could go either way but he’s a 5th anyway. Benford isn’t great but he was a steal in the 6th. Rousseau good, basham bust, brown make or break year this year but looking rough Epenesa looking good?, Zach moss we could not block for at all and he’s now playing well in Indy…I’ll give an incomplete on that one, gabe Davis outperformed his draft position for awhile but I don’t think he’s good enough, Tyler bass good up until the last few games unexpectedly, Dane Jackson great for a late 7th. ed oliver pretty good, Cody ford bust, singletary and Knox we got some use out of as third round picks and probably should’ve let them both go after their rookie deals
  15. The whole thing gives me a chuckle…people post some valid criticisms for sure but also a bunch of overly negative doomer predictions get posted that always turn out to be false and those posters claim to be vindicated when we don’t win the Super Bowl despite being wrong about just about everything else 😂
  16. I mean if we’re playing in ‘should’ve won due to blown calls’ we probably should’ve beaten the pats and lost to the giants to be fair lol I think the pats game evened the giants game out officiating wise. giants defense has been getting absolutely hosed by their offense but they’ve got talent. They went out and absolutely dominated the commanders offense the week after we played them so it wasn’t like it was a one off flukey thing. Tyrod is just better at managing the game than jones and with saquon back they can eat up some TOP and keep their defense off the field. chargers defense is worse than the giants in all the big stats...they’re giving up more yards, allowing more points, committing more penalties, worse in advance metrics like dvoa etc which is wild to me because the giants offense was struggling for most of the season and hanging their defense out to dry. Derwin James has steadily regressed since his rookie year, some of it is injuries but some of it is Staley having no idea what he’s doing. James is well rounded but his weakness is pass coverage and they’re just forcing him to cover constantly. He’s certainly not bad by any means, but he hasn’t really been playing like a dominant player that can swing a game. Bosa is just a big name that’s pretty much invisible also probably due to injuries. Mack is a beast though.
  17. I agree with about half of this idk how blind faithfully that makes me lol. Pats clearly made it a point of emphasis to get the ball out quick and despite being depleted our dline was still good against the run. I wouldn’t sound the alarm on von yet theyre clearly easing him back in oline is a big problem but it looked like the interior to me this game. Torrence had his worst game as a pro, morse has been terrible in this 3 game streak. I do agree that if we can’t get that sorted the outlook is grim. looks like we got a real one in the first round this year, Torrence has looked pretty good too up until last game but I wouldn’t write him off yet. Epenesa has been turning it around Dorian Williams is flying all over the field he just hasn’t been the surest tackler yet. Bernard has looked good so far, Rousseau has been good, Ed oliver has been pretty good, James cook has been good Idk where this narrative of we can’t draft in early rounds comes from that’s a lot of good picks for a team drafting in the later portion of rounds. Elam and basham were misses but that’s gonna happen, there aren’t a lot of absolute sure things late in the first and beyond. I’ve reached the end of my patience with Knox and gabe Davis for sure so no arguments there. I’d just straight up bench gabe for sherfield at this point why not. I wouldn’t say our depth is bad, I think mcD just got outcoached on the defensive side last game(not sure that’s any better than having bad players though 😂). We’re missing 4 of our best players on defense and those guys are still hanging in there makin enough plays to win most of the time. Pats game was def a mess though on both sides so I understand the strong reactions from people
  18. Division is still a pretty clear path with a game in hand against Miami a lot of these teams you’ve penciled in as losses have looked just as garbage-y as us lol 9-8 with a win over Miami could win the division lol and if they have the division locked up they’ll likely be resting starters week 18 as the 1 seed will absolutely not be in play for them I also personally vehemently disagree with your chargers pick 😂 they are probably the worst defense in the league
  19. All of those things are a factor but the offensive line is kickin it all off imo. Seems like josh just doesn’t have a good sense for when the pressure is coming because of all the assignment breakdowns these delayed blitzes are causing. Nothing is improving until we figure that out regardless of what skill position players or coaches we bring in here. Flip side of that is it’s not a talent issue on the offensive side and I think it’s something we have a good shot of figuring out I just hope it’s sooner than later defensive side we just don’t have the talent anymore with the injuries; the offense is going to have to carry us. All teams have injuries for sure but we are missing all our best players on defense
  20. Idk if they’ll figure it out but if they could communicate better on these stunts/delayed blitzes the offense would improve exponentially in a hurry. It’s really been the same things killin us every game since jax
  21. Even with our current struggles all 4 of the games you highlighted are winnable and every one of them have looked bad against bad/mediocre opponents at times much like we have
  22. Can’t imagine how this board would react to Ben Johnson’s last game lol. They have one of the best offensive lines in football, we very much do not. Those guys up front didn’t show up Sunday and the lions got destroyed. We’d be currently calling for Ben to get fired if he was here 😂
  23. I think it’s the opposite lol have to get to the red zone though 😂 The oline looks horrible to me this year…if josh wasn’t as athletic I can’t even imagine how many times he’d be sacked. Weeks 1-4 it really looked like we turned the corner finally but now it looks like we’ve regressed
  24. I saw a stat that he’s last in the league in accuracy to open receivers…of course I can’t find it now so there’s a 20% chance I’m making it up lol
  25. No one wants to be the Super Bowl favorite, eagles and chiefs will both look bad next week now 😂
