I feel like the magical script that doesn’t actually exist could just as easily want Josh vs mahomes especially given we all got a pretty meh ravens chiefs afc championship last year
-
Ok but how does that improve Jared Goff lol this was the commanders…yea maybe you find a way past them with a healthier defense but it was just the first step. They’d still have to get through the eagles and whoever is in the Super Bowl. Do you have full confidence in Goff to get that done? I l think it’s pretty fair to have doubts especially when you couple it with getting pantsed by belichick in the superbowl with the rams and one of the best offensive minds in the nfl giving up on him not to mention Ben Johnson is leavin so that could have a negative impact too idk why we’re so hellbent on choosing one thing to get all the blame in a game lol. The defense was bad of course, but Goff wasn’t good either
-
I’d probably be drafting some mid-late round qbs if I was Detroit out of mild concern…yea the defense was bad but that’s pretty independent of how Goff played. It’s not the first time Goff has had a down game at the worst possible time in a great offensive system. And the wizard behind that previous offensive system felt he had to take a huge swing at qb cuz Goff just wasn’t quite good enough
-
I’m sure they got a pretty good glimpse at what McVay saw in LA but I just don’t know what they can do to instantly upgrade the position. Any other guy they could realistically bring in is pretty much Jared Goff at best on a good day
-
Spags is pushing 70 and Quinn is like 10 years younger. I think that’s pretty much the only thing stopping him from getting another shot

Brady just interviewed with the Bears

Too old most likely. He has said he’d like to come back as a head coach a few times but I think that’s the hangup for teams. Even if he’s good I think it’s assumed he’s not gonna coach well into his 70s so you probably are only getting 5-6 years of him then starting over with the ‘he’s a failed head coach’ risk on the back of peoples minds I think the age thing is just one too many points against him -
They lost in the divisional as a 1 seed once though too 😂
-
Super Bowl appearances seem to be worth a little something but I largely agree. This game is getting hyped up to be THE game of the playoffs but whoever wins will quickly get the ‘yea but they can’t beat mahomes’ treatment
-
What? Lol. I’m saying the bills beating the ravens suddenly won’t mean anything to anyone despite them being hyped up as the best team in the league and absolutely unstoppable all week if/when it happens . im not saying they should get credit for losing to the ravens 😂.
-
Sad thing is the bills probably have to go back to back wins against Baltimore and KC to get any amount of credit at all lol the divisional will mean nothing once it doesn’t go all these analysts’ way
-
Lol truth. Granted Detroit has well documented injury issues of their own I fully acknowledge that but if the bills weren’t way down the depth chart at a few defensive positions by the third quarter I think we blow Detroit out in that one and I don’t know how far behind Baltimore they are offensively if at all
-
I did that for the bills chiefs afc championship time wise (tickets were way more expensive),bills lost and I still had a great time if that counts for anything haha
-
Pit legitimately seemed like they were trying to take the wrong guy on the read option as often as they could haha idk if they got overhyped trying to bottle up Henry or Lamar or what but something went very very wrong in the gameplan phase
-
It’s crazy how much is riding on each game in football…a Harbaugh loss in the divisional might put him in the hot seat much like a mcd loss might. Huge stakes for players and coaches alike despite it being a single 60 minutes of football
-
When you start flooding the field with olinemen/fbs you make your intentions pretty clear. Henry doesn’t really have crazy burst off the line either, if you start shooting those gaps in the run game you can definitely trip him up before he gets going it’s not impossible. Bills really haven’t been bad in obvious running situations to my eye in fact we’ve made a bunch of short yardage stops this year it feels like.

Personally, this Ravens matchup is my "McDermott Game."

Best DC on the planet is pretty strong recency bias. Pretty sure the chiefs averaged 25+ ppg allowed in every playoff run up to last season. That ain’t far off mcd numbers. Really the only year he’s earned potential ‘best DC on the planet’ label is last year. They haven’t had a playoff run where they didn’t have a game allowing over 30 until 2023. I really think 13 seconds is warping peoples memory a bit and like I get it that was horrible but godda*n you’re facing potentially 3 other teams with hof level qbs in the afc playoffs there’s gonna be games you need to drop 30+ no matter who your coach is and your offense is gonna need to make a play late to seal it. Idk how bringing in another coach is gonna do much to change that fact. I’m all for Josh Allen is the best player in the world type talk but mahomes, burrow, and Lamar are right behind even for believers of that Difference is when the chiefs offense has needed a dagger to seal a game late in the playoffs they pretty much always come up with it. Heck even Chad freakin henne came in and led a td drive in the playoffs to pick up an injured mahomes one year 😂. Like yea the chiefs replaced DCs after losing to NE in the playoffs a few times (Reid’s offense also blew one and lost to pit 16-18), but Brady also left the conference haha I think that’s pretty significant to mention -

Oh yea that’s the situation…as it stands I think the odds things get worse greatly exceed the odds things get better. Pretty much anything can happen bringing in a first time head coach. if we start losing not very close playoff games consistently or choke in the wildcard round, blow the division title etc the decision gets a lot easier/low risk but we’re not there yet imo. If we lose a two score game to the ravens that’s certainly ammo for the fire side. I do think the regular season success vs kc is getting downplayed a bit personally which factors in. They are mostly the same kind of games as the playoff ones with us making the 1-2 more plays that can swing a close game instead of them. Only difference is the sample size. If these teams played eachother 20 times playoffs or not I think you’d end up with a pretty even split in wins. People repeat ‘the chiefs don’t try in the regular season’ thing but the last two times we saw them they were fighting for an undefeated season and trying to deliver the killshot to knock us out of the playoffs. -

Andy Reid had his share of good regular season/bad playoff performance years with kc and he stuck around. A small contingent of fans on chiefs message boards wanted him gone but boy did they jump the gun 😂 I’d think if it’s truly freaky Friday and the bills are the team on the unbelievable playoff heater and the chiefs offense came up short against Buffalo several times there’s no shot Reid goes anywhere to be honest with you -

I feel like everyone is disappointed but the firing discussion is pretty polarizing. Taking the chiefs down to the wire in the playoffs is pretty much the ceiling for the whole league. If it was just a bills issue then the discussion is different. Look at Harbaugh, he’s 1-5 against them and the one win was a pretty miraculous late fumble. He’s winless against 1-3 seeds in the playoffs in the Lamar era I believe, has beaten a few 4s but also beefed it as the 1 seed against a 6 seed. They missed the playoffs one year and had a first round exit but I won’t hold it against them because Lamar was out. If mcd is on the hot seat Harbaugh undoubtedly has to be also and he’s a little easier to evaluate because we’ve got no personal attachment to him. I wouldn’t think about firing either guy yet personally but that’s just me I just can’t see the path to a first time head coach coming in and improving the situation when literally no coach in the league is beating the chiefs in the playoffs with any amount of consistency. Especially if it’s someone like Ben Johnson who’d have to bring in a DC that can figure out the 3 hof level afc qbs. Even if you have a low opinion of mcd pretty much the ceiling of DC he’s gonna bring in is a fired retread head coach like mcd 😂 -

Taking the chiefs down to the wire in the playoffs is literally the peak of what any afc head coach has been able to do in the playoffs lol. Pats had a coin flip fall their way to win a game in ot, bengals just squeaked one out once that felt like more luck than anything seeing as it’s pretty generally accepted Zac Taylor is kind of a mess. i just don’t buy this ‘mental hump’ business and you are risking the future of the entire franchise on this false notion that ‘things can’t get worse’. A lot of you sound like you want to replace a hc with a sterling record against the only other afc east opponent that has a shot of doing anything that plays the chiefs as consistently well as anyone for a completely unproven no head coaching experience type guy. And y’all expect this unproven guy to be able to accomplish a feat that no other coach in the league is doing with any kind of regularity. Chiefs are 1-8 against active head coaches not named Sean McDermott this decade in the playoffs. It’s pure insanity and would be mocked mercilessly by the nfl world. -

I don’t see the ravens labeled as a team that can’t beat the chiefs hardly ever though…it’s bizarre. It was briefly a thing then the ravens beat them by 1 that one time out of 5 and it stopped getting talked about -
15 at kickoff in a night game is pretty darn cold lol. Not historically cold or anything but it’s pretty rough. I feel like I’ve seen Lamar bundled up when it’s 50-60 degrees haha

I mentioned this in an earlier post but it is absolutely MADDENING the ravens don’t have that label also. Has to be one of the greatest hypocrisies in sports analysis lol its almost like beating the chiefs consistently in the regular season and losing in a small sample size of incredibly close playoff games is somehow worse than extremely rarely ever beating them at all 😂 Not saying this is how it’ll go down but for arguments sake if the ravens were to beat the bills then lose to kc they’ll be 1-6 against kc (0-2 playoffs) in the Lamar era with the 1 win being kc fumbling the game away in game winning fg range. its kinda like avoiding that virtually guaranteed kc loss in 2020 by losing to buffalo works out in their favor out of bills ravens bengals Baltimore is the least successful by a longshot i for one will never understand cherry picking only the playoff games against kc. The last two years they faced us they had a shot to continue an undefeated season against us and a shot to virtually eliminate us from even making the playoffs which they would’ve loved. Those two games werent kc toying around with us not taking us seriously by any means lol they were essentially playoff games -

Win: bills could load up against the run because no zay flowers/ playing at home gave them the edge lose (national media): ravens/lamar are just the better team/qb…top tier qbs are Lamar and mahomes with Josh leading tier 2. lose(these boards): fire McD
