Honestly it’s getting ridiculous…i don’t understand how McDaniel doesn’t get torched by the media. The guy cannot beat a good team and it’s not like they’re losing shootouts consistently. Frequently their offense looks completely anemic against good teams

I don’t even think he’s a good play caller lol anyone can call plays when you have huge physical mismatches all over the field against bad defenses. That offense routinely doesn’t show up against good opponents though which is a pretty obvious sign that there’s big time coaching/scheme issues if they were losing shootouts to the KC,BUF,BAL,CIN,SF type teams I’d give McDaniel a little more credit but that is usually not what happens I don’t think he’s making it to 2028, he couldn’t even beat good teams when his team was at its peak and they’re headed for cap hell and haven’t had a lot of early draft picks to replace guys. They’ve been propped up by always beating bad teams but I think we’re gonna start to see them lose some of those types of games

Not a clown show but they are a completely different offense against good opponents which makes them overrated I’d say. They ended up losing that game you’re talking about because they were shut out in the second half. They forced 3 turnovers and lost the game 21-14 i think they’ve scored over 21 points against an eventual playoff team 3 times in mcdaniel’s tenure and have a record of like 3-13 against those teams with two of those wins coming in back to back weeks early in 2022 before there was a lot of film on them. All three of those wins were extremely close games. they have never once gone out there and won comfortably against a playoff team so who cares that they can drop 70 on the broncos

I think he’s talking about limited in variety of what they can do to you. Teams that can disrupt the timing on those quick throws don’t really have any trouble with that offense that has so much of a cap investment. Seems like they very rarely cracked 20 points against winning teams which just isn’t good enough when your strength is offense…doesn’t even matter that they’re dropping 50+ against terrible teams

They blew the whole rebuild on that Bradley chubb trade imo…then really jumped the shark on the tua extension really haven’t outperformed what Flores was able to accomplish by much and Flores still had a ton of draft capital to spend when he was fired

Chris jones absolutely annihilated a pro bowl offensive tackle and backed him right into josh while he was throwing on that play that would’ve been a wide open td rescuing the chiefs yet again. mahomes wouldn’t move the ball at all on that playoff chiefs defense…that’s the difference. I don’t think the chiefs offense of the last year plus would hit double digits on that defense

Obviously we’re all guessing what’s gonna happen in the future here haha but if we extrapolate what the chiefs offense has done into the future I think mahomes is gonna fall out of the goat talks personally. That offense seems to go as Kelce goes and he looks to be declining to my eye. Things are starting to look difficult for them. Without sneed I don’t think that defense is quite good enough to carry them consistently but I guess we have to wait and see Can’t fault people for keeping the crown on mahomes if they keep winning but if they start to lose some games it’ll be on their offense for sure

What josh did to the chiefs defense in the playoffs last year was significantly more impressive than what mahomes did to the bills and it’s really not close imo if we’re strictly talking qb vs qb. The ‘whether it’s joshs fault or not’ is nonsense. The injury gods smiled on the chiefs and gave them aj klein to exploit and they still only snuck by. Josh would’ve absolutely nuked the chiefs if you swapped Bolton for an aj klein level player. I get the whole ‘injuries are no excuse/next man up’ shtick when it’s reasonable but that was outrageous. chiefs are very fortunate to not be 1-4 against the bills in their last 5 with the only win being 13 seconds rn. I genuinely don’t think mahomes has been as good as Allen the last year plus.

Ravens will be the toughest with our defensive injuries I think…I trust mcd to put something together that gives stroud problems even if we don’t get anybody back by then. Jets I have honestly no idea what’s gonna happen…their defense has looked a little shaky against the run when not playing the patriots

People see football as just two qbs 1v1ing eachother haha it’s ridiculous. They’re not even facing the same defense. our playoff game against the chiefs was a perfect example…one qb was facing a healthy defense with arguably the best defensive player in the league, and one qb was facing a defense with a 9th string linebacker to pick on. One of those qbs jobs was way more difficult that day

I feel like people are mixing up who is the best qb right now/going forward with who is the best team. Chiefs are still the best team until proven otherwise because they have a mahomes level player on defense also. Josh could be the best qb in the league and it still may not be enough to get past them. the chiefs defense has swooped in to rescue the team with much more regularity than mahomes as of late and for whatever reason they get none of the credit.

I think it’s exactly about how they’re playing right now and projecting what their future will be based on trends in their play from just reading the op this whole rings talk when you’re comparing a qb vs qb directly is kind of ridiculous…if you gave Josh the chiefs defense he’d probably never lose if we’re talking about which team is better, then sure bring the rings talk in

Who’s a better qb right now isn’t the same convo as which team is gonna go further this year as much as people want to pretend defense doesn’t exist 😂. Nobody is crowning the bills yet here josh has to be significantly better than mahomes to overcome that chiefs playoff defense

Kind of depends on their future trajectories to me…mahomes doesn’t have to play the chiefs defense in the playoffs and I think he’d have a ton of trouble if he did. The vibes are starting to get to the chiefs defense is carrying him a little bit. So if we’re strictly talking best qb you’ve gotta normalize for that somehow imo.

Cincy sure doesn’t play like a playoff team at the start of season but that’s a decent point. Kelce seems checked out so I don’t think mahomes below average play is really random chance that is definitely gonna pick up though
