  1. I mean the issue for me is you need a coach that’s not only good but more or less a scheme fit or you’re probably taking a big step backwards early especially on the defensive side to maybe take a step forward when they rebuild the roster over a few years. I’d argue a new coach at this point probably wastes more josh than what is happening currently then a lot of teams get in the constant cycle of hiring and firing coaches every 3 years because they never get the team quite built the way they want it and someone else takes over and starts the process all over again
  2. See that makes sense to me at least haha this situation was honestly pretty justifiable…doesn’t mean other stuff was too though. But making it sound like it’s way worse than anything he’s ever done is wild my main argument against firing mcd is I really get the vibe the defense completely implodes unless you bring in a dc that runs a similar scheme but everyone complains about the scheme anyway so I don’t think people want that either 😂. I’m not sure this is a playoff team anymore in the short term once he’s out
  3. Playing scared 🤣. Not at all to a fault in this case. He trusted his big money qb to either give them a chance to win or ensure OT more than relying on shaky Sam Martin to keep them out of immediate fg range after three straight telegraphed runs. Not the right call and when something goes wrong he’s the face so I get the frustration. But it really wasn’t that shocking of a decision the too many men on the broncos fg was much worse than this imo and that didn’t pick up much steam
  4. I’m at a weird spot with this…if they can mcd unless they bring in a coach that runs the same defensive scheme I don’t know that this is even a playoff team for the first year or two until they turn the defensive roster over. So it seems weird to draw the line at a one year dump a few contracts but be competitive ish situation. It’s not like kc has been slapping up around in the playoffs. The bills have given them as good a run as anybody firing mcd probably causes a longer wait in josh Allen’s prime logically
  5. A lot of his body came down at the same time his elbow did and his elbow didn’t even look like it was completely in bounds…I at least get the concern with the timeout and such on the cook play but there’s still a 0.0% chance that’s overturned and im assuming we didht know the timeout would be needed on that next play? I get the concern though strategically the Kincaid no challenge questioning from a game strategy perspective is insane
  6. That’s not at all the only criteria for the other side of the argument haha what. the criteria is if your offense gets another shot with limited time in the half, having an extra timeout is massive. Throwing timeouts away on frivolous challenges frequently costs teams points in scenarios like that. Teams are driving to close out a half all the time and run out of time and are forced to settle for 3. in fact, we correctly criticize McDermott for making the OPPOSITE decision from what he did from time to time 🤣. He absolutely made the right call there if we didn’t get the stop and people complained we saved the timeouts and our offense didn’t even get a shot, I’d understand it a little more
  7. As gung ho as I am that that was objectively the right call to not challenge the Kincaid play, I think if that’s called a catch on the field it might’ve stood. Absolutely no shot it’s an overturned no catch though. Refs kind of boned us on that one that call could’ve gone either way on the field…I think if we’re at home that’s probably ruled a catch
  8. Can’t remember the premise because I genuinely didn’t even think that play was close/controversial but I don’t know that they knew they’d need to use a timeout on the next play would be my guess. If we called a timeout deciding if we should challenge it’s certainly odd and makes sense to talk about but the result would’ve been the same
  9. That one makes more sense to question…I don’t think the play was even close personally and it absolutely would not have been overturned and the timeout taken was more coincidence than anything…can’t remember the exact circumstance because it didn’t seem very controversial to me at the time He’s a good passing threat imo but that definitely sheds some light on the screen situation…I could not figure out how we had numbers and were getting beat so badly every time lol I think every one of those screen calls seemed to be correct but we just could not execute at all and I just didn’t have the heart to rewatch them 😂
  10. Spagnuolo literally had a head coaching job and was fired from it and scooped up by the chiefs haha I don’t really get the logic. That happens to offensive coaches all the time too that just can’t quite cut it as head coaches. Every promising OC doesn’t get a head coaching job and hold onto it, it’s a pretty constant churn of guys getting promoted and then fired and beane could pretty easily grab someone from that group which is what a lot of the good teams do on both sides of the ball (Washington with kingsbury for example) And to go even further, there’s multiple guys that are head coaches right now that have made the leap from DC to head coach, gotten fired, taken another DC job then gotten other head coaching jobs; it’s not like that never happens. Raheem Morris, Dan Quinn, and Todd Bowles all have done that. I think the issue with spags is he’s 64 now and teams don’t know when he’ll hang it up or he probably would’ve gotten another shot too. Its not because he’s a defensive minded guy that failed as a head coach once before that is scaring teams off the last hiring cycle or so was a pretty even split offensive vs defensive head coaches…y’all are making it sound like nobody picks up defensive head coaches anymore lol Heck we just lost to one yesterday
  11. 100% positive and no you don’t. This is like football 101 🤣 it is kind of surprising. Getting the ball back with three timeouts instead of two with limited time in a half is huge and teams constantly throw points away in those situations by blowing timeouts earlier in the game. All these terrible end game situations we have had are in part brought to you by the opposing coach not blowing timeouts earlier in the half
  12. Could be mistaken identity haha I’ve had three people now tell me the Kincaid bobble had a timeout taken right after it doesn’t help the confusion that the Kincaid play happened around 3:30 in the first half 🤣
  13. the Kincaid no catch we didn’t take a timeout ‘right after’ …the cook not inbounds catch we did. I think wires are getting crossed in this thread it seems lol
  14. People are clearly discussing both plays at the same time 😂. Multiple people referred to a Kincaid blown timeout. the cook play wasn’t even close I’m honestly surprised it’s even being talked about.
  15. This feels like it’s turned into one of those Mandela effects 🤣. There absolutely, unequivocally was not a timeout called by the bills right after the Kincaid play. people joked about the defensive timeout taken with 15 seconds left in the half (our only used first half timeout) but obviously you don’t have to preserve timeouts for your offense at that point lol and now I think people are misremembering it it wouldn’t even make sense to call a timeout to decide to challenge there, it was fourth down and you can just eat the delay penalty on the punt
  16. Are y’all talking about the first half Kincaid sideline toe tap bobble at like 3:30 ish? There was no timeout taken right after idk where this is coming from. Our first timeout was used with 15 seconds left in the half after our offense got the ball back with three timeouts (which is why you don’t challenge the Kincaid play),punted, and then the Texans had the ball do some people mean another play and are just saying the Kincaid play by accident 😂. I am immensely confused. I literally watched it twice now lol it’s 4th down right after and the punt team came out with zero delay and punted it.
  17. How is it not about timeouts too? 😂. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills here. Your offense got it back with 1 minute left in the half with three timeouts instead of two. That extra timeout could be huge down the stretch of a half. You don’t throw that opportunity away on a frivolous challenge…it’s moronic. the only leg the challenge people would have had to stand on is if our offense didn’t get another chance because we didn’t get the stop. Then having an extra timeout would’ve been strategically irrelevant
  18. This is insane logic. You are trying to preserve 3 timeouts for your offense if you get the stop which is exactly what they did. That one timeout could be and often is the difference between no points and 3 or even 7 when you get the ball back with 1 minute remaining in a half that you’d be throwing away on a zero hope to be overturned challenge. the timeout he used came wayyyyy later when it was clear we wouldn’t get another offensive possession. There was 15 seconds left in the half for god sakes 🤣. This was one of the few things mcd got completely and objectively right in this one
  19. He did not unless we are talking about two different plays somehow…I literally just watched it to confirm I’m not crazy. 3rd and 13 to Kincaid down the sideline towards the end of the first half that he toe tapped and bobbled. the gameday thread erupted in how can you not challenge, fire everyone. I distinctly remember because someone told me I was probably too dumb to tie my shoes for saying it would’ve been a wasted timeout and as I was furiously typing a response the thread locked 🤣 edit ohhhhh you jokers are talking about the defensive timeout later. I gave you way too much credit. Offense got it back with three timeouts which is why you don’t challenge there. I thought you were trying to say we called timeout to decide if we should challenge and could’ve just challenged right away (which would’ve been a good point if it was correct). Didn’t make any sense though as the next play was a punt you could just take a delay on some of the stuff that goes back and forth here is subjective but any coach in the nfl would tell you you’re objectively wrong here.
  20. We must be talking about two different plays…I actually was fooled by the injury timeout in the gamecast haha we finished that possession with 3 timeouts.. so I’m not sure if we’re talking about two different plays or what, the 3rd and 13 to Kincaid had no timeout after. Punt team came right out and punted Haha I think this is sarcasm but it seems like a relevant time to point out that Houston had that fg shot at the end likely because they preserved all their timeouts…13 seconds was able to happen to us because kc preserved all their timeouts, and so on and so on…time outs are pretty much gold. So I agree with you (if this is sarcasm 🤣)
  21. Are we talking about different plays? I believe we went into halftime with two unused timeouts and the timeout we used was before the Kincaid play. I will begrudgingly watch this sh*tshow again though to be sure 🤣
  22. The announcer was an idiot and y’all are far too impressionable 🤣. Those plays are never ever overturned and we had a shot to get the ball back with limited time in the half. The average twobillsdrive gameday thread poster would make a horrendous football coach I don’t think the absolutely brain dead announcers are doing people any favors though lol I rolled my eyes hard at that commentary
  23. This is my favorite example of gameday thread posters being out of their mind…would’ve unquestionably been a failed challenge then when our offense got the ball back with a minute left and one of the timeouts was wasted y’all would’ve complained about the challenge. we see those ball wobbling while going to the ground plays all the time around the nfl and they are never overturned
  24. This is such a funny take. Dewayne Carter is playing better than worthy and Coleman who is what we spent the upgraded pick from the trade down on and Coleman really isn’t far behind what worthy has done by any means Early returns look like the chiefs got fleeced so far even if worthy ends up being good lol. They may have still gotten worthy without the trade up and they gifted us a guy that seems like the real deal and Coleman looks like he could be good as well edit: I really don’t understand what part of any of this is eye roll worthy (no pun intended 😂) we weren’t taking worthy clearly, is everyone sure the niners were or something? I don’t think you ‘settle’ for pearsall if you wanted worthy…they are two different players. And the niners didn’t have an immediate glaring wr need anyway so it’s not like they had to pull the trigger on the best available wr there. I think veach got spooked and ended up handing the bills a pick upgrade when he didn’t need to and that pick upgrade player is lookin good. So even if worthy is good and Coleman is ok you still handed the bills a good player very likely
  25. The trade comparison doesn’t make a lick of sense…Diggs was actively unhappy with his situation and his head wasn’t in it. Eventually we were going to be paying a premium for an indifferent wr who was leaving in free agency and ripped the bandaid off in a year where we had some other bad contracts on the books anyway and he still had some trade value we’ll never know of course but I’m sure veach would’ve handled the situation the same way if tyreek started causing issues Play hard for 1 more year and we’ll take a big dead money hit the next year because he’s under contract for more than 1 additional year? I really don’t get that at all The ‘oblige’ part is exactly what we did 🤣 we just picked a year where we were a bit behind the 8 ball already anyway to eat it all
