I think there’s an interesting debate if we’re assuming ‘highly motivated Diggs’ vs cooper in a contract year but in reality it’s gotta be cooper and it’s not even close. diggs was straight up checked out and fit right in with our other ‘pretty good wrs that can’t beat sticky man coverage’ this whole situation is intriguing I feel like beane had his eye on this trade probably since the offseason…I wonder if he knew the browns would flop and amari’s trade value would take a bit of a hit

It’s definitely debatable…I think Amari knows the game better and is more cerebral so he will be a little more protected from diminishing returns as he ages. He strikes me more as he’ll embrace the savvy veteran role that knows how to set dbs up by just being a smart route runner whereas Diggs was more a relying on physical skills guy. Currently I’d definitely take him over Diggs prime Diggs vs prime cooper is tough though without visiting the alternate universe where prime cooper played with josh lol. I think Dak is one of the most overrated players in the nfl so Amari has never really had a top shelf qb and he still performs

This is so ridiculous lol I’m sorry. You don’t spend a third on a midseason rental unless you think they catapult you to contender status and they will be heavily involved down the stretch. Some twisting of words in a press conference will never disprove that fact. the Hines trade was essentially player for player and Zach moss wasn’t really adding any value so it was more of a ‘it’s low risk but if it works the ceiling is high’ type move that didn’t work out and not at all comparable to this situation. You can’t misuse Amari cooper lol it’s pretty much impossible. If anything, I think the bills offense was TOO reliant on their wr1 (when we had one) to a fault which is what caused the midseason shake up last year. all that talk about Adam Henry to me means we did our due diligence deciding cooper can get acclimated quickly enough for the deal to be worth it so I feel like this press conference said the exact opposite of what the mcd hate train is trying to make it sound like 🤣

I think a major reason cooper was brought in midseason is he’s a very smart player, has familiarity with Adam Henry, and is in a contract year so he has all the tools to get acclimated quickly and the mental motivation to do so with a small pinch of ‘keep him away from the chiefs’ I don’t know that beane spends the draft pick without all those factors. Probably would’ve let him rot in Cleveland and then made a run at him in free agency if we didn’t think he could be a big contributor this year

Pretty sure Shakir was on a pitch count due to injury…that was the least snaps he got all year by a landslide. Kincaid got 80% of the snaps which is pretty close to the highest snap percentage by a bills pass catcher all year. This is one of those situations where one specific anecdotal instance does not tell the whole story I don’t remember the play specifically, was Knox in as an extra blocker or anything like that?

Eh he didn’t do much of anything. One of the jets players straight up cursed out a ref to his face which will be the one they remember from that game

Both Diggs and cooper needed a change in scenery so I’d say not even close Diggs is also a known commodity…we’ve seen what he can do in our offense against good teams playing similar styles of defense recently and it was not much of anything.. no idea if it was mental or physical or what but he wasn’t getting it done

There’s also a modest amount of restructures…I mean if cooper commands 20 mil next offseason that’s a good problem to have in a way because it means he absolutely went off the rest of this season and might not want to stop the good times 😂

The ‘if’ game definitely favors the bills in this one…Aaron Rodgers literally defied physics and threw a deep pass through a defenders body AND hit a Hail Mary on top of that haha

Morgan Moses coming back was a huge boost to their offensive line which helped. Jets quietly got two extremely important injured players back for this game that I didn’t see talked about much. also the refs pretty much gave the green light for egregious OL holding for half this game lol

While that may be a valid concern it is a complete non issue in a contract year imo. I could see that creeping into the conversation if we resign him though the guy isn’t gonna cost himself money

I think he’s slightly better than current Diggs personally…it feels like coopers game is a little more insulated from decline as he ages. That’s def up for debate though he’s certainly better than disgruntled/head is not in it 2024 bills Diggs would’ve been though and if we’re talking about the being a teammate perspective, I can’t even imagine how Diggs would’ve acted on this current browns team if he was stuck there lol

Diggs playoff contributions are so wildly overrated. Hasn’t done much of anything since that 2020 season chiefs usually lock him up pretty easily and he blames everyone else for it lol

I genuinely don’t know the ins and outs of comp picks lol but I think we may get a comp pick back if cooper leaves anyway
