11/5/23 Week #9 SNF GAMEDAY Bills @ Bengals Pregame Thread
Ray Stonada replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Time to shine… this is what you play for, games like this. Cincy is a gOOD team, no doubt, but if we get after Burrow, and keep running the ball, and Joshua Allen, the greatest point guard of a QB in the NFL, starts to wheel and deal, I think we can blow them out. LET’S GO BILLS As James Brown said, GET UP GET ON UP -
Now I’m not a professional OC but this is what I’d like to see the Bills try: Line up under center in heavy set, two tight ends (Kincaid and Knox/Morris) and Cook or Fournette at RB. One WR (Diggs). Option A: sneak Option B: lead or counter Option 😄 play action pass Also once the defense is set the play you can totally shift the formation and go three wide with Diggs and the two TEs. Then you run it wide or pass and the defense is trying to defend your spread with space eaters. Or once the defense is set, you bring a tight end (or Gilliam) in motion to the backfield as a fullback for the push play or a straight up power run. Point is, lining up under center with that personnel makes it much tougher to guess what we will do, because it keeps the sneak possibility alive, which the shotgun kills.

The Next Four Leading Into the Bye
Ray Stonada replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope for 3-1 and expect that or 2-2. I just can’t believe we lost to the Jets and Pats. We should be 7-1, dang it!! It’s gonna be tight getting into the playoffs—10-7 with our conference losses probably won’t do it. -

Good chance that the Dolphins lose to Philly this weekend. So beat the Pats and we’re back leading the AFC East.

If We Lose to Tyrod Taylor I Will ....(fill in the blank)
Ray Stonada replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Feel depressed for two days, and good for Tyrod. However, I feel better having a slow start and working on finding ways to win rather than blazing out of the gate and running out of steam like last year. 20 games (or 19, for the one seeds) is a lot of football. We’ve played 20% of a Super Bowl season. We could be a game over .500 after 40% and it doesn’t mean we don’t get a Lombardi. -
You from Baltimore?

Try Dishoom in Shoreditch in London… damn good Indian food, would make an especially good gameday breakfast. Scrambled eggs with cilantro and chilies, paratha, chili cheese toast, chai, etc. That said I always liked a good English breakfast in a “caff” as they call them… except the sweet baked beans. For the game tonight (I’m in Kyoto atm) we are having tempura, soba noodles, and fried pork cutlets from a little local restaurant. On our flight from New York to Tokyo last week, the guy behind us had a Bills cap. We talked about the Miami game with big smiles on our faces.

Allen's completion percentage - Him, or Dorsey or the weapons
Ray Stonada replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s hitting the open man for 5 yards. That’s what makes the completion percentage so much higher and it adds more possibility of YAC. It also means longer drives with more plays, tiring the defense who then miss tackles and give up even more YAC. But the line has to hold up for three seconds to let this happen. Been doing it well this happen. -

Singular point imo when Josh started regressing
Ray Stonada replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
That December Miami game gives me a lot of hope. Josh was crisp and focused. He threw to the open guy, even when it was Singletary or Cook short. He ran but slid or went out of bounds. Pinpoint deeper balls to Gabe and Knox. He was in control, not wild and would not let us loose. And all this with Dorsey at OC, after the UCL sprain, after the Packers hit, etc. Make me think it’s all mental with 17. Not elbow, concussion, or coaching. Keeping calm and doing what it takes. -
I think it’s because it’s genuinely confusing. The kinds of mistakes Josh makes when he’s in that fog are such total blunders—dropping the snap, then picking it up and immediately running into the line, fumbling it again—almost moronic looking. Allen has more ability, running and passing, but Kelly never had a fumble like that. It’s hard to understand from a guy who is the most talented and confident QB we ever had, but who also descends to a nearly Petermanesque level every so often.

A few topics/stats/info that have not been mentioned

Not sure why McDermott likes to run such a small lineup out there. As a smaller guy could he be biased towards them?
