A lot of close games in the today's NFL. The Jets defense will likely be competitive. Their O-Line will likely be a mess. So tough to make projections without a proper off-season & no preseason games. However I think we cover that spread & beat the Jets by 10 points ..

Will the 2020 'Covid' training camp set Josh Allen back?
Bulldog replied to LB48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No more effect on Josh Allen than any other NFL Player - everyone is in the same boat on this. The circumstances of this strange NFL Off-season are not unique to the Bills or Josh Allen. -
Go BOLD - 2020 NFL Bold Predictions
Bulldog replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL Wide: 1. Cam Newton will get injured early on - but the Patriots* will be more competitive than many fans think - because Jarret Stidham will turn out to be a competent rookie QB, however the Pats* will not qualify for the playoffs - just missing out on a wildcard spot - losing a tie breaker. 2. The Jets finish last in the AFC East - winning only 4 or 5 games - they will be able to keep games close, but "find a way to lose" most weeks. 3. The Bengals will be the most improved team in the AFC - finishing at 8 & 8. 4. Robert Kraft will be found to have been on the flight logs to Epstein's "Pedophile Island" more times than Bill Clinton, but will not suffer any consequences by the league or legal authorities. Bills Related: 1. The Bills will keep Tyler Bass over Stephen Hauska - but will wind up regretting it, due to inconsistent performance & we will be back in the market for a place kicker next year. 2. Josh Allen shows progressive improvement this year and earns his next contract with the Bills. 3. The Bills O-line have trouble getting push in the run game - hampering our rushing performance. However, the continuity of the group helps to enormously improve our pass protection - leading to big years by Allen, Diggs, Brown, etc. through the air. 4. Andre Roberts will return both a kick off & a punt back for touchdowns this season. 5. Trent Murphy will stay healthy & be our best pass rusher this year. -
Is QB the most mentally taxing position in sports?
Bulldog replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The QB position is certainly a mentally & physically demanding position - but clearly it must take more than "intelligence" to master the position. If a high intellect was actually required to excel at the NFL QB position - then how is it possible that such mental giants such as Lamar Jackson or Dan Marino have been able to perform at high levels in the position after squeezing out wonderlic scores in the vicinity of 13? Perhaps IQ is overrated as an indicator of QB success - or perhaps the Wonderlic test is so flawed that it is worthless. -
Who is Your Favorite Classic TV Housekeeper/Servant

Maybe this preference explains my confusion about the behavior (or lack thereof) of Hagman's character in the show. -
Who is Your Favorite Classic TV Housekeeper/Servant

Good one! She was beautiful & a great character in the show. Never understood Larry Hagman's character though -- she was always offering to do whatever he commanded, but he never mentioned what was on the mind of every guy watching the show. -
Duke sure is a polarizing figure for Bills fans -- I don't quite know what to make of him either. As for Akeem - he wasn't around very long was he? Hope he didn't unpack to many things. Don't know much about him as a player. Good luck to him in trying to stick around in the league.

Good point - here is a quick/rough glance at Tyrod Taylor's 1st two years in the NFL versus Josh Allen's: Tyrod --- 2011 (Baltimore Ravens) 3 games played in - 1 pass completion for 2 yards - one rush for 2 yards 2012 (Baltimore Ravens) 7 games played in - 17 completions for 179 yards - 14 rushes for 73 yard, one TD Josh - 2018 - 12 games - 169 completions for 2,074 yards & 10 TD's, 631 Yards rushing , 8 TD's 2019 - 16 games - 271 completions for 3,089 yards & 20 TD's, 510 Yards rushing , 9 TD's So Josh is no better than Tyrod after two years in the league? I am no Josh Allen apologist - I have no idea if he will develop into the QB that we hope to see - but the assertion that he is the equivalent of Tyrod after two years is ridiculous. I think I'll look up Fitzy's stats next.

How many trade deadline days have turned out to be "mush ado about nothing"? Hopefully today turns out like that - I still hope for a meaningful season. Financially, opting out makes most sense for marginal guys who had questions about even making the roster. If a bunch of those type of guys opt out, then I don't see an impact on leading to a season of compromised value.

I love Josh's work ethic & personality too. However, I must admit that if I was in Josh's shoes - when asked that question I would have just "smiled" at the thought of signing my own new contract. Lucky for us we have Josh as our QB & not someone like me!

Stefon Diggs contract has been “tweaked”
Bulldog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This makes a lot of sense - with all the uncertainty of how the salary cap will be impacted as the financial hit from COVID-19 is expected to be spread over the next few seasons. Trying to set up for Salary Cap flexibility moving forward seems wise -- we finally seem to have a Front Office that is getting out in front of things, rather than being far behind everyone else. Portends well for the franchise for the future. -
Stefon Diggs first Buffalo media session 8/5
Bulldog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Diggs seems like a class act. He doesn't rip on his previous employer like so many guys seem to do - no negative comments about the Vikings. I think that is s sign of a mature guy and a positive indicator of his character. I can't wait to see him in a Bills uniform on the field. -
I feel for you -- I am married to an ICU Nurse & I myself am an "essential" worker (in a different field of work). We both have gone to work daily - we realize that we face increased odds of greater exposure than most people - however, our jobs are of the nature that many, many people count on use to do our jobs so that they can have the "privilege" of quarantining. Both of us have been routinely tested & have remained "negative". Our 4 children have also remained healthy. We have no elderly parents to worry about - everyone's individual situation is unique. I realize that the job of "football player" is clearly not an essential job. I also do not begrudge anyone who has the option of 'opting out" of work for choosing to do so. I just see that if proper procedures are observed - even professions that do not allow for continual social distancing can be run without COVID-19 running rampant through the workplace. Good luck to Tre White - I hope he does what is best for him & his family. Thank you to all of you who have been, and continue to be, on the front lines - allowing society to continue safely functioning (as much as possible) during this pandemic.

As I understand it - the Bills will save six million dollars on their salary cap (over the next two years) by releasing Long. With all the new deals that we will have to negotiate with our good young players coming up fast -- doesn't releasing a relatively expensive veteran backup lineman, who played such a small percentage of snaps for us, make complete sense? I think that they released him earlier rather than later as a show of respect for Long - to give him a better opportunity to find a team where he can fit in. It looks like a move by McBeane for a player that they respect, but who no longer fits into the teams needs salary cap-wise - a class move that some of our previous management groups rarely made.

Deion Sanders not happy with his HOF bust
Bulldog replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This thread is funny! I think that the bust looks like a young Vince Lombardi - did the bust sculptors they get their Hall of Famers mixed up? -
I wonder how many holding & false start penalties Lee Smith could rack up if we lined him up to play center? The officials might wind up being treated for repetitive motion injuries after throwing all those flags.
-
The team must have a significant amount of confidence in Ryan Bates as a back up center -- or perhaps Jon Feliciano's injury is not as bad as we were led to believe.

Fan cut outs for Bills home games?
Bulldog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want my cardboard cutout to look something like this -- but I insist that it must be removed at halftime! -
Charges against Ed Oliver dismissed
Bulldog replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good news! Wonder what really happened here? We will probably never know. Hope that Oliver leaves this "incident" behind and moves forward to concentrate on the upcoming season & making himself the best player he can be. Hopefully we'll be seeing Ed cause large amounts of mayhem in the Jets backfield on opening day! -
[Vague Title] The Puff Puff Pass thread
Bulldog replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We open with the Jets -- where are you Jimmy Spagnola? I look forward to your sage words of wisdom every year! I'll know the season is definitely happening when I see a Jimmy Spags post!
