I'm hoping/thinking the non-offer had to do with the size of the reduction in salary that the Bills are thinking. Smoke was not a budget friendly option, he was 9 million. If the Bills are trying to fill the position with a 3-4 million option, you can't even bring it up to Smoke until after he tests the market. I hope Smoke didn't burn his bridges with his statements. Maybe they can frame this as Josh going to management and asking to see if they could bring Smoke back, and Smoke decided to give a team friendly deal for Josh.

Because they are probably looking at extending Chubb now - who had been on his rookie contract. They will probably look to back up Chubb with a lower cost option. A lot of teams don't even like to pay one RB, much less 2. And Chubb is their home grown guy who they will keep.

Maybe the Bills could include Singletary in the trade. That way Cleveland gets a cheap rookie contract backup and the Bills don't carry three. And it could decrease the pick needed to be given to Cleveland.

I think you could do it for a 3rd. Cleveland is in a bind w Njoku as it is, they paid big for Hooper and drafted one. I believe they would like an out. And RBs are being devalued every year. And having to pay one a decent amount reduces their value. Maybe we could send over Singletary and a pick for Hunt and Njoku and both front offices could save face over some small draft snafus.

I certainly say "No" for the kind of money that was just introduced. But I think the Bills will be patient. Let the frenzy subside and some veteran TE might come down to a more reasonable price.

J Smith is too expensive. Doesn't look good for Hunter or Ertz now. Bummer because I wanted the Bills to get a veteran TE. Hope it doesn't price us out of a Rudolf/Everett/Howard type. My new hope is trade with Cleveland for K Hunt and Njoku.

I think you overvalue the matchup vs KC, as apposed to being a good football team. Priority number one is to be a good football team. The easiest way to be a good football team in '21 is to bring back the core of the '20 season (15-4). Not only is it logical from a record point of view, but continuity helps culture, and for an oline to gel. I agree with you in hoping that something can be done to improve the pass rush though.

Yes, what I meant was the progression of G Davis going from the 4th option (Diggs/Brown/Beas then Davis) up to the third option (Diggs/Beas/ then Davis). I'm not against the Bills drafting a WR either. Eventually need to replace Beasley. And playmakers are always welcome. If they think Toney is worth it, it wouldn't bother me.

I was thinking there could be the possibility his agent may not have passed on information because the agent may have thought Brown would not have taken it well. The agent is probably telling Brown to lay low and shut up now. This does not look good for Brown.

But let's not forget that the agent could be a factor here. Maybe the agent did know what is going on, and decided not to pass it on to Brown.

From a mid to longer term perspective leaving the opportunity for draftees to fill and grow is the way to go. Allowing Davis to move into the 3rd role goes with that. Not overrecruiting the RBs employs the same philosophy. Also in his scenario the Bills would be adding Ertz - that's a veteran option.

I'd take it. Would like a little more on the OL though - either Williams or a good FA to go along with a draftee. The major additions would be Lawson and Ertz. I like it.

My top tier - I hope we can secure one of these TE1's and use Knox as TE2. Ertz - interesting thought to improve the pass catchers from last year. J Smith - good athlete who would improve the run blocking while having somewhat a pass catching threat K Rudolph - same as J Smith w run blocking and some pass catching Second tier - has D Njoku, G Everett, or OJ as Kroft replacements and competition/depth for Knox.

I like G Davis, doesn't mean I like everything he does. Don't be applauding Davis for saying he didn't watch the pinnacle game in his profession. You sound like a groveling idiot, in full spin mode, who can't admit a mistake. Instead, how about we say Davis is a rookie who made a mistake.

From a marketing perspective. Better to go the Diggs route of forcing himself to watch it, than the Davis route of cowering with the "I couldn't watch it" quote. Davis is a rookie, live and learn.

It's tough love. The Superbowl may not be the best way to learn the game, but it is reasonable for him to expect questions from his local press. This year he came off as the lovable fool, that needs to stop. He shouldn't be caught again with the "I don't know I didn't watch it" response. With that response he's less qualified than most here on an opinion of the pass interference calls. The "too painful" thing needs to go. Diggs was applauded for doing the exact opposite with his stunt of watching KC celebrate - self inflicting pain like a man. This year he gave a rookie response, next year, no excuses.

It's unfortunate to hear that he didn't view the Superbowl. Makes him look like an immature idiot. It's painful so he's not going to do it - grow up. It's the pinnacle game of his profession. He shouldn't need to be told to watch and learn at every opportunity. He's young, lets hope this is the last time he says something so stupid.

What are Milano/agent thinking? How would anyone think this is a good message to send? It might be a fun thing to send to friends/family/old coworkers - but for the general public it doesn't play well (and who wouldn't think this would get out).

Thanks for the work GB. For the record, I'm with Bill from NYC in that I'm hoping the Bills go with some Bigs (either DL or OL). An OL guy would allow for team controlled continuity with Josh for 4-5 years. It is a sought after strategy to have OL continuity. Having a first round pick developing into the mix would allow for small year over year changes for the next several years. A DL is a huge need. And from a team cost perspective they are great to have - the backup DLs of the world Murphy/Jefferson/Butler's are $8+ million apiece. While many are not thrilled with Epenesa, he is already allowing the Bills to jettison one of the Murphy/Jefferson/Butler trio - saving $8 mill in the process. If the CB is just a backup level guy, his place on the roster is only moving out a less than $1 mill guy (like EJ Gaines).

I think Watt will get around $5 million more than Lawson - and Watt deserves it. Getting Lawson would be okay, more of a consolation prize in the Clowney/Hendrickson/Kerrigan tier.

I agree with the Bills having a number. I just think if the Watt team was going to take the offer they would want to put it out there on a Friday afternoon - get a whole weekend news cycle. Plus if it goes longer, Green Bay and Pitt come more into play.

I wouldn't mind the newest Carolina possibility K Short. It seems like a lot of people here will lose it, and that would just be an added benefit. This FO and coach have placed a high value on the DL. Wasn't it the most money in the league? I'm in agreement in hoping they tweak the investment. They've already started, the early draft picks of Oliver and Epenesa can help eliminate the costly depth of the Butler/Murphy/Jeffersons. Now move on from them and add a premier top guy (and yes I classify Watt as one of those). On Watt news, I'm getting a little nervous. Was hoping for news today. I am of the opinion the longer it drags on the lower the odds for the Bills.

What are you basing the "injuries have really taken their toll" on? Did you really watch all his games and come up with a different opinion/analysis than the guys who did. What was your win rate and double team rate? It wasn't that long ago that Bills fans saw the damage Watt can do. That player we saw in the playoff game would be great to have on the Bills.

I was hoping this would be the case, if Pitt and GB are reluctant to put in a bid at this time the Bills chances shoot upward if an early decision is to be made. And while Beane may feel trepidation with the cap situation, this is when a top Exec earns his money. A Cleveland vs Bills competition clearly leans the Bills way (no matter what that Cleveland fan tries to claim).

But a 2 yr deal 12/per deal is not a "pushing the chips into the middle" situation. It's a great short term fix of a problem. Replacing Addison/Jefferson/Butler w Watt/K Short/draft pick is an overall cost reduction and performance upgrade. This would show more Beane magic, showing the love early in a period of cap uncertainty. IMO, the longer Watt goes unsigned the less likely the Bills get him - because all things being equal the Packers and Pitt have the advantage. Beane made his big move early last year and the results were terrific - time to strike again (I smell Exec of the year repeat).
