  1. My hope is Beane can move Trubisky. Top choice for an IOL. But if not, see if you can move MT for a 3rd or 4th. Trubisky was always a one year rental insurance policy. The years half over, move him. Sure, there's some risk. I'm on of those (in the minority it seems) that wants the Bills to be good for the next decade vs the all-in on the one year.
  2. Yes, but the whole premise of the IG was to not allow a throw away to avoid a sack. And the penalty/call of IG was to create a situation as if the sack took place. In the instance of an Offside though if it was a just a sack then the play could be avoided and the Offside accepted. IMO, the idea that the Offside can be negated by an IG call is bad. And now they're saying an IG call overrides the Offside, that would be very a poor rule. If true, I hope they change that.
  3. What? I find that even harder to believe. Sounds like they were just making stuff up to help alleviate the injustice of not calling the obvious Offside. If true, Josh will need to learn for the future to just take the sack. Then when the Offside is called the Bills can at least get the 5 yards. An IG should not be in the same class as a Personal Foul. An IG is usually a harmless attempt at avoiding a sack. At most it should be offsetting.
  4. I saw one article listing Trubisky as a potential Saint QB target. I wonder if Beane is tempted to trade away the half year insurance policy for a pick next year. I know this is kind of the opposite of what a lot of people are looking for, but I wouldn't be upset. I want a contender for years!
  5. IMO, the Hughes bias is over. The refs miss stuff all the time and it is not blatant, intentional, conspiracy stuff. However, not calling the Offside when Josh has them is starting to piss me off. The top 10 QBs get those all the time. They are not giving it to Josh. Was a crucial non-call against Pitt -end of 3rd qtr- had 'em and no call. So started 4th w 2nd and 10 instead of first and 5. Was big miss IMO. Happened again today. Josh caught him in the neutral zone, got the ball hiked - and then no flag. And these hurried plays are usually less effective, so not getting the call has a kind of double whammy affect - poor play and no call. Today's was the grounding debacle. Then to piss me off more, the announcers tried to claim it would have made offsetting penalties and the play would have been done over. Remember this was on the grounding call. I find that hard to believe. In any event, even offsetting would have been much better than this missed call. The refs need to start giving Josh/Bills the call when they have them in the neutral zone. It's really starting to irritate me.
  6. Lets Go Bills!!!!!!!
  7. I liked Knox, just didn't think he was TE1 material for a Superbowl contending team. I thought Knox would be good developmental TE2 to Ertz. I was thinking of apologizing for my Ertz obsession but am holding off on that. This team is seriously devoid of a TE2. I think depth at TE could be the worst depth of any position group on the team. We have great DL depth, OL depth nice, dual RBs, even a quality QB2. Someone gave Hollisters numbers upstream but those numbers should be compared to our backup TE, whoever that is. Does Gilliam count? That's embarrassing.
  8. C'mon Royale, no need for that. How about Beas is doing something team management wanted. The timing of the actions suggest a lot. And Kudos to McDermott. What a gutsy way thing to do. The biggest regular season game of the year. Wow, McD notched up his respect level from me, and I imagine from the team as well. For those calling it a coincidence, here's another coincidence that will be occuring soon. 8-10 targets to Beas on Monday night at Tenn.
  9. I want him because he would make the Bills secondary elite. While Gilmore may be me-first, his me-first attitude and what the Bills want are aligned in the same direction, no real conflict of interest. This could be a worthwhile splash move. The Bills passed on the Watt/Ertz moves. This could be it and I would be on board.
  10. No, the Chiefs are not going to be 1 - 6. Also the Eagles are not a tough team, they are pathetic. And how could you just finish watching our game and think Wash would be any type of problem for KC? C'mon.
  11. One play that annoyed me was the lack of the Offside call at the end of the third quarter. Josh caught the guy in the neutral zone and had the ball snapped. Started the fourth 2nd and 10, instead of 1st and 5.
  12. I recommend fantasyfootballcalculator. They have an ADP (Average Draft Position) option that gives you a great idea of when people will be drafted. You put in standard and how many teams in the league, so it's quite specific. You didn't mention if you have a flex. If you do, in a standard league, it is advantageous to be able to play a workhorse back in the flex position, making RBs even more desirable. Decent RBs can give you around 11-12 fpg's (Fantasy Points per Game) vs about 9ish for later decent WRs. To be one of the teams to get this good RB3 you will need to sacrafice in other areas. I suggest holding off on TE and WR2 to get the shot at a good RB3. One thing to be careful of with the ADP are recent movers. For instance D Henderson has moved significantly up because he was being drafted as a backup before the Cam injury. Likewise the Jax RB should be moved up with the Etienne injury. What number are you picking?
  13. I think the RBBC is a good move by the FO. It's a 17 game season now, foolish to try and run just one back through that type of gauntlet. I give the nod to DS for RB1 in a timeshare. I think there is room for improvement in the RBBC but I am against major investment there, so will live with it. I don't think the Bills have a power back game right now. On third and shorts, like with 1 1/2 yards to go, I am not comfortable with just handing the ball off.
  14. I don't think you should assume the Eagles are holding Ertz hostage. It easily could be that a contract with Ertz is the sticking point. What would you accept if you were Ertz/agent? J Smith just got $12.5M. What do you think the Bills would offer Ertz? I don't think the Bills want to give Ertz that amount, and if not, it might be hard to get a deal done. I could easily see Ertz wanting to go to free agency instead of taking what many here want to pay him.
  15. Quit digging your hole here Chandler. The Bills were in the deciding game to get into the Superbowl (and it wasn't called the Superbowl then). The deciding game is called the Conference Championship (doesn't matter what it was called then, that's what we call it now). If you're counting how many Superbowls a team won, Green Bay counts that first one. If you're counting how many Conference Championships a team has been in, you count the games that got you there. It's important for you youngsters to know and recognize Bills history.
  16. This title is just wrong "Bills 1st Ever AFC Title Game. Jan. 89" What? How quickly we forget 1966! The very first AFC title game. Bills lost to KC for the right to get into the first Superbowl. C'mon two pages in and people are letting this slide.
  17. I disagree. IMO, the Dolphins made a huge mistake staying with Tua. It makes their bold move of replacing Fitz with Tua, when Fitz was better, a mistake. I thought Miami was discarding their fluke possibility at the playoffs for the long term. The early look and decision of whether Tua was the long term answer. They got to see what they had, and somehow came to the exact opposite conclusion that I had. Miami should have gone the AZ route and reloaded at QB with a do over while they had the chance (the #3 pick). Huge blunder. And I'm enjoying every second of it.
  18. I'm with you, pretty safe, smart, pick to me. They don't really define bust. For Rousseau he says he didn't see him being a top 30 player, that's not a bust. And Boogie seems very safe to not only make the team but be a solid rotational player in his first year. If these two become rotational players that allow the Bills to jettison Addison and Butler next year, they are producing a financial benefit to the Bills. To me the odds are strongly in their favor to do at least that.
  19. I think salary opinion is a big issue. Pegging the market value of Ertz is no easy task. $8.5M seems reasonable to me. J Smith just got $12.5 and Pitts $8. I'm afraid if they cut Ertz the Bills won't survive the bidding war (see JJ Watt). AZ and TN have dogmeat for TEs and money to spend. Best case scenario for me is, Ertz to the Bills for a 7th and either Addison or Butler (then the Bills can go after Nelson).
  20. I agree with you. I'd add that people are also selling Allen short if they think he can't improve (scary thought for our competition). The improvement to Allen's game in using the TE, and game management, would be greatly facilitated if he has the right weapons. Adding Ertz would be for TEs in the middle of the range between Diggs - J Brown was in the WR category.
  21. Maybe the Bills told Nelson to hang on until after Ertz has been moved. A clue might come in the trade details. If the Bills can move a DL player like Addison/Butler IMO it increases the odds of adding Nelson.
  22. Bring in Ertz! We all want Josh to continue his development. The next step is taking what the defense gives him. Well he needs the tools for that. Josh needs the confidence that the 5-7 yard dump off that is wide open will be caught. Daboll can use the weapon so that defenses won't cheat, as KC did, to take away the midrange game.
  23. I find it weird that people could watch many Fin games last year and think Tua was better than Fitz. If Tua hadn’t been a 1st round pick, Fitz would have led Miami into the playoffs (would have beat either Den or the Bills backups). Tua stinks, Mac is average at best, and Zach is in a real loser situation. The Bills need to rule this division.
  24. There are two things that make it tough for the Bills in regards to Home field. One, that they cut it down to only 1 team gets the bye. That's already hurt once. And second is KC, they're tough. And the Bills have to play them in KC. One thing going for the Bills, to me, the AFC East looks like a cake walk, especially when one looks at the QBs. The Bills swept the division last year and 2 out of the 3 (NY +Miami) have downgraded their QBs (Fitz/Darnold > Tua/Zach). And NE's QB not only stunk last year but looked to be on the decline and they picked up a mediocre QB.
