  1. You seem to judge a TEs worth solely on yardage statistics. That's a mistake. How much do you think D Knox would get in Free Agency? J Smith got $12.5M last year, as did H Henry. D Njoku was franchised at about $11M. Knox's deal is right in line with these "elites".
  2. The Bills FO has justified the deal to me, because they are the best team in football at the moment - and Knox is a part of that. D Knox is a home grown player....offers continuity...Process guy..team player...is a true Bill. Looks like Knox will be the best TE in Bills history. They gave him a fair market deal a year early, that's what smart FO's do. They avoided the stat hunting problem, the annoyance on a winning team of an individuals usage problem (see E Moore). If the FO didn't give him a fair deal at the time they did, they would be looking at getting a TE this offseason. J Smith and H Henry had already gone for $12.5M.
  3. Another problem is next year our RB room looks weak. Sure I think Cook will improve but I think Moss may be done and Singletary is a FA. It would be nice if the FO could pick up an RB that would not only finish out this season but be here for next year as well. It would help build year over year continuity. It's a downside to the Hunt pickup, Hunt will want big bucks for 2023, so he really looks like a half season rental.
  4. First - Alpha said kick her in the head. Hunt did not kick her in the head. Second, 100% opposite of the team? What planet do you live on? You don't think the majority of the current Bills have had parties with women? McD and Beane probably know more, no one said they didn't (Alpha didn't). So why don't you stop the condescending "Maybe just maybe" bit. And on top of that there were rumors in the past of the FO looking into acquiring Hunt.
  5. I'm not giving up hope. My preference is K Hunt. The hope is Beane is playing it the way he does, not budging from his price (maybe a 5th). Cleveland might be holding out trying to get more. But if no one else goes to them they might come back to us. The competition looks to have dried up some. SF is out, NYJ probably done now w the trade. The only screw ball team I can think of is the Rams who just have a different view on the value of draft picks ,and were allegedly trying for McCaffery.
  6. On the positive side, the Jets trade for Robinson makes it a lot less likely they are involved with Hunt. Plus the price of a 6th for an RB where they get another year of cost control might help keep the price for Hunt reasonable.
  7. I guess I should retract the "I don't see anyone" because you may be right - the Rams just do things a little different. I should rephrase it to "I don't think Beane would do that". It gives up too much of the future for a slight increase in the present. The reported 2nd for CMC came with a low cost this year and a contract to manipulate for the future.
  8. You don't need to be injury prone to get an injury at the RB position. It is a brutal high contact position that has a high rate of injury. Look around the league or just in our division - D Harris and B Hall are out already. I think Singletary has been out for injury before - I wouldn't call him injury prone though. Just like I wouldn't call J Taylor injury prone - yet he sat out a bit. Moss seems on the outs. And Cook seems to lack the trust of the staff. I'd love to see them bring in Hunt. Probably a long shot. But Hunt for a 5th would work for me.
  9. The market priced half season rental with no compensation on losing him, IMO, drastically reduces what will be given for him. I don't see anyone coughing up a 2nd rounder for that.
  10. You left out actual cost though. CMC was under $1M for this year and had a contract going forward. K Hunt would be more, probably in the $2-3M range for the remainder of this year and has no contract going forward - unless you get one done prior to the trade. And K Hunt is going to want to get paid
  11. Fine the way we are? You must only be looking at just this year. And you're probably assuming Singletary goes injury free. I hope Beane isn't looking at it that way. K Hunt seems like an excellent addition from an RB performance perspective. I would like an RB that isn't just a half year rental though. Let's see if Beane can get him for a year and a half at the Sanders $6M rate that he owes the offense.
  12. I know the price looks like a lot, but is it really more than the Bills 1st and Moss? I'd have been a happy camper to have CMC for that. Didn't it take a 4th for the Bills to move up 3-4 spots in the first. San Fran will have a low 2nd and low 3rd. It seems like all those picks combined might equal the Bills 1st.
  13. I think CMC would honor his contract. Most of the contract and payment thought and arrangements for the next year and a half would be thought out of in advance. CMC would love the opportunity to play for a contender. ICMC would be a fan favorite and he in turn would love playing for Buffalo and fit right in. The Bills would pay him fairly and he would accept it much in the same fashion as Diggs has. And saying Singletary played well is true, kind of like saying Smoke played well before Diggs got here.
  14. But we don't just want him for this season. Getting 2-3 years out of an elite player at a reasonable cost is what makes the whole thing so enticing. He would not be a rental, he would be an addition. The Diggs trade made us good, the Von addition made us an SB favorite. A CMC trade would start the dynasty.
  15. I don't really like rentals. I would prefer CMC but for longer than just the remainder of the year- for this year and at least next year. It would cover the gap we have now for next years RB. If a WR got hurt, then I could see a need for a move. Otherwise I would rather see G Davis as our #2 and Shakir in the slot as our Superbowl winners. And that squad would have a lot of components coming back the next year.
  16. Are you claiming Singletary is a current star? Because that's whose touches CMC gets. And those 17 (would actually be 18 for CMC because he would have been given the ball and scored at the 3) don't take away any from the other stars. Correction make that at least 19 because CMC would have gotten the first on that 3rd and 2 (the one where the first was there for the taking but Devin stopped/danced/blinked). Cook will not be as good as CMC this year. I don't want Beane to go overboard and mortgage the future too much for CMC. But I would be extremely excited if we got CMC.
  17. I'm in agreement with you. I like Devin, just think CMC would elevate the offense. Would take it to an insane level. Appreciate your recognizing and responding to the attempted shift of the point. I, too, don't think the trade will happen. It was always a longshot. I think Beane has never been a pursuing a strict one year rental, he would want at least this 1/2 year and all of next year intended. That makes it more difficult. Hope KC doesn't get him.
  18. This reminds me of the people who thought our defense wasn't bad last year (and it wasn't). That replacing Hughes with Von was "on paper" thinking. Singletary, like Hughes, is decent, even pretty good. But replacing decent with Excellent in certain spots, moves the needle. The D moved. The O with McCaffery would be next level good.
  19. I am rooting for DaBoll too. And while I'm happy for his good start, I fear it may not be the best thing for him long term. Some of the reasons: 1. Inability to move Barkley. I can't see the NYG moving Barkley prior to the deadline because NY would lynch him. The area wants to believe they are a good team in the running for playoffs. DaBoll can't do a fire sale on decent players to reconfigure the roster to his liking. 2. Increased expectations. This should have been his first year in a rebuild. If NY goes 11-6 or 10-7 the fans will not want a rebuild. And future years probably won't be as kind in terms of terrible teams and easy schedules. There is the possibility that the good start might not be the best for DaBoll's future.
  20. Carolina would want an RB for this year. The Bills locker room would unfortunately probably have to have Singletary gone. New #1 RB in town and no room for potential disgruntled RBs. Plus Cook has shown like he is going to be CMC Jr and will take over the spot in a couple of years.
  21. Do it Beane!!!!!!! I had mentioned a 3rd and Singletary for CMC upthread. Along with a reworked contract that keeps CMC for at least this year and next at reasonable salary - kind of like the E Sanders money of $6M per. Do it!!!!!
  22. Not really a half game though, because if one has a tie on their record they would be ahead. IE 13-3-1 record would be ahead of 12-4. So more like a quarter of a game.
  23. Yes, you're jumping the gun. The coaches are doing a great job developing Shakir, everyone here should hope it continues. To me, it looks like both Shakir and Cook have playmaking ability that if developed properly, can be a great asset to this team in the future. Your last paragraph is annoying though. You conclude because of what you've seen that if the coaches don't play him to your satisfaction (some ambiguous yet to be determined standard) then the coaches aren't true to their word. What about practice? What about knowing the playbook and responsibilities? How quickly we forget the coaches put in a 6th rounder before the 1st rounder.
  24. What? I didn't say or imply anything that would remotely suggest that. Does make you wonder the wording and reporting of the tweets that said the Bills denied it. The FO generally says they talk with a lot of teams on a regular basis to improve the squad.
  25. CMC is out of guaranteed money on his contract. This would be incentive for CMC to rework his deal. So many people keep thinking these contract numbers are set in stone.
