  1. As Granato often says in his press conferences, "It's disappointing, but it's something these young guys can learn from." I really like Granato and what he's done with the team. And this may not be the case, but it's ringing with me that it's ok to be disappointed because we'll always learn from it. I know it's gotten better, and I'm sure it's just me, but when will the learning yield better result?
  2. I have a similar story in Florida. In the mid 90s, a bar I used to hang out at was bought by 3 late 20ish friends (not my friends). They proceeded to make improvements and after a few months one of the guys bought out the other 2. I would chat with the sole owner occasionally. One nite I walked in and saw he had installed an automated wing cooker. I think it only held 10-12 wings and took about 15 minutes to cook. For a couple of weeks I watched in bewilderment the meager orders he could fill. One nite I had to speak up. After a couple of questions about how much he made and how many orders he was churning out I said, 'man you got dump that thing and get a commercial deep fryer. It helped my credibility that I said, 'I'm from Buffalo'. Maybe a month later I walk in and sure enough, I see him in the kitchen dropping baskets of wings in his deep fryer and he was selling alot! One of my few successes as a drunk.
  3. Over the past 4 or 5 games, I've noticed an increase in bad angle shots. I get the whole, 'shots to the net; bad rebounds, sneak one inside the post' kind of things, but it seems to me it's boosting the opponent goalie confidence bit. Skinner seemed to be locked in on what the Sabres were doing. His positioning was solid most of the night.
  4. What's with the bat? He's already got an injured knee.
  5. Stupid me. When I first read the title, I thought it said "drinking too much." Chalk it up to a mind preconditioned.
  6. Milk is a noun and a verb. And you don't need it with breakfast. I like beer in my Froot Loops. The citrusy flavors are the best.
  7. But Tua is learning to hit the ground safely. Doesn't that count for anything?
  8. This whole week is going to be tough. It'll be a huge challenge to make up any ground towards one of the elusive playoff spots.
  9. For years, I used to say almost the exact same thing. Usually around mid-November. Then they started sucking. I think it's coming back around.
  10. When Kurt Russell plays our head coach, and speaks before the season starts, then we'll know...
  11. I agree that if they can do something to help them make the playoffs and it doesn't jeopardize the future, do it. It would be a huge relief if they can get in. It'd be like when the Bills finally made it. I was ecstatic. When they lost that playoff game, I was disappointed, but not devastated. As one of the posters mentioned, goalie and defensive play will prevent them from making any playoff noise, but it would be fun.
  12. There would've been all kinds of conspiracy theories if he'd done it on the logo!
  13. I agree with just about all of this. But I would keep Mitch Morse, at least for another year. Good centers and interior lineman are hard to find. Staart by finding 1 more solid guard and tackle then look for a replacement at center. And Gilliam? I'll go with the flat out cut. Not enough contribution.
  14. I believe it's still number 1 as having the most viewers for a single television episode other than sporting events.
  15. Exactly. The D isn't giving him any help, but he was on his pads for every goal; 3 over the shoulder. I like when goalies protect the post when the puck is moving behind the net, but the 2nd goal....it came out to the high slot and he stayed on his pads. So many things to hate about that 2nd period...
  16. I don't think the conversation was like... "Sean, I think I need a break. I'm going to take a year off and recharge the batteries." It was more like, "Leslie, you look tired. Why don't you take some time off. I think a year would be good."
  17. He was in an offense that threw ball like 15 times a game. In Buffalo's offense he'd be a 3 and out machine.
  18. Maybe Cleveland thinks that's the only way to get intel on the Bills.
  19. I was in the left lane of a two lane merge where the right lane merges left just before entering highway. It was bumper to bumper and the right lane traditionally moves faster. As I approached the spot where the merge ends, some dick moving faster tried to pass right at the end and squeeze in front of me. Normally reaction is to hit the brakes, but I stayed on the bumper in front of me and dared to him to hit me, which he almost did. He ended up on the shoulder and had to fall in behind about 2 cars back. Best day of my life.
  20. That's good news. Now I can get my tickets. I wasn't about to drop $20.00 on a mere 1B.
