  1. This is the point of thread. It juxtaposes this question against the fact that the Bills have been successful in the regular season.
  2. Tiger Woods was "far better than" Jack Nicklaus until he ended up falling well short of Nicklaus' career majors wins record. Mahomes may be on a hypothetical track to a better career. But it is way too pre-mature to say his career equals Brady's.
  3. I think there may be a difference between "aggressiveness" and "imposing your will"/"playing your game". I am not sure there is specifically a problem with play calling aggressiveness. But it seems like in the playoff games we lost to the Chiefs and Bengals, and Texans, the Bills are typically responding to the other teams rather than dictating the pace of place. And we seem to keep ending up one possession behind with that strategy. I don't if that is because the Bengals , Chiefs and Texans had better talent than the Bills or if this is what the Bills are consiously trying to do.
  4. I am hopeful this thread avoids discussions of specific coaching or players. Here are some facts that are not in dispute: The Bills have had more regular season success than virtually any other NFL team in the last 5 years. The Bills have not translated the regular season succes into deep playoff runs Here is a commonly held opinions: Playoff football is different than regular season football. (I am personally on the fence on whether or not this is true) For purposes of this thread discussion I would like to stipulate that Playoff Football IS different than regular season football. Here is the question: Are their any significant football strategic changes that could be made, that would result in playing better "Playoff Football"? If so what are those changes? Alternatively, its fine to respond "flawed premise, the gap between playoff success and regular season success is because the Bills are less talented, or unluckier than the teams that win the Super Bowl"
  5. There is some truth in this. But there is a bigger problem with the premise of this thread. The concept that you can only get to the Super Bowl if you are the #1 seed is truly not a sustainable strategy. Certainly the strategy the Chiefs relied on this year.
  6. This is a perfectly accurate summary of this situaton. Hansen is a national treasure.
  7. Hang your hat on believing that. Bank Robbers don't avoid charges by returning the money.
  8. Ideally there should be no need for discussion about whether or not the commander in chief of the military suffers from or does not suffer from dementia.
  9. The President is calling for an immediate Summit with President Mitterand of France and Chancellor Helmut Kohl of Germany to reassure them that his memory is fine.
  10. Its never been clear to me what the baseline expecation of what coaching staffs should "look like" America - if "equity" 50% women head coaches, with a commensurate number of Asian and Hispanic coaches? NFL player base. Being an NFL player does not obviously make for a better NFL coach. People who coach football - ie the universe of high school, college and NFL coaches who make educational and career decisions to focus on coaching rather than playing or something else (think Sean McDermott, MIke Tomlin among many others in this group) Separately is it assumed that everyone regardless of race/color/creed/gender ethinticy is exactly equally likely to have the same coaching capabilities? Clearly the NFL does not believe this when it comes to players. If it is not true for players why would it be true for coaches?
  11. I as certain as can be that it rounds to zero. Bills would have won 11 games with Singletary. Hell, the Texans won 11 games with him.
  12. How many wins more did the bills have in 2023 with Cook, then they would have had with Singletary. if the number is zero, then Cook and Singletary are identical
  13. By above average, do you mean an RB1 who helps the Bills win more games than the would win with an average RB1?
  14. It the Bills case, Josh Allen is RB 1 in the red zone. The desire for a bruising style runner to compliment and take the burden off of Allen is more important to the Bills, than anything the RBs do between the 20's. The best stat in sports is baseball's WAR. WAR does not work quite as easily in the NFL. My personal OPINION is that there are at least 20 other backs in the NFL that would have allowed the Bills to finish 11-5, and lose in the divisional round of the playoffs. And that there are less than five backs, who individually would have moved the dial forward in terms of wins or loses for the Bills. As mentioned Cook is fine. He is a solid RB on a rookie salary. Perfect for the Bills needs. So was Singletary. And Cook will be likely be gone when he is no longer on a rookie contract, to be replaced by the next guy.
  15. Allen wastes his time golfing, when he could be learning to kick.
  16. Its not really a matter of upgrading the position. The RB position carries a low dollar value for a reason. Its not that it is an unimportant position. It is important. But gap between the 10th best guy and the 40th best guy is pretty small. There are only a couple of guys in the league that make a huge difference throughout the game. Most notably McCafferty. The list gets pretty small after him. As an illustration of his true impact on the team, When the Bills ran the fake punt on 4th and 3, a lot of fans thought it was nuts to take the ball out of Allens hands for the fake. I did not see a single person who said "we have James Cook, we can count on him for three yards when things are tough, why run Hamlin on a fake". I also did not see one person say teams can't stop "Allen and Cook", when three yards are on the line. Cook is an nice player between the 20's. We don't need anyone better in that role. The Bills will keep him there as long as the price is right. But he is replaceable if his price increases meaninguflly.
  17. I watched the games. The stats match my eyes. If Cook was effective, we would have used Cook more.
  18. He was not particularly effective in the Redzone. https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/red-zone-stats/rb.php?range=full
  19. What makes it a scam? Are tricked into watching? It seems more like a straightforward aboveboard business model than a scam.
  20. Not everyone aggrees with Joe regarding Joe.
  21. 2024 will start with the same coaching staff 2023 ended with, with some title changes. Bills will have the same QB. In real life, this means the Bills will be having one of the least drastic offseasons of any NFL team. We will cut some over the hill veterans, and draft players. So will every other NFL team. The good news is we are only about 50 weeks away from knowing if running things back will get us past the divisional round.
  22. The Bills have been trying to build a defense to stop the chiefs in the playoffs. I think it is clear no matter how many resources committed to defense, the Bills do not have the abilty to do this. I think they need to focus on how to score 35+ against the chiefs in the playoffs. I do not know if Henry helps with that or not. If he does help to accomplish that. Go get him. If not, pass
  23. 0-0, I have never played for the Bills.
