Your very true feelings for tomorrow outcome

It’s hard to imagine losing this game however, the bills do seem to be susceptible to any given Sunday syndrome -
If the Bills Don’t Make it to the AFCCG, Should McDermott Be Fired?

It is unlikely others in the room are privy to McDermotts and Beanes private conversations. They could be reporting 100% accurately what the see. But what they see is very unlikely the whole picture. -
After nine games, where do you think the Bills end up this season?

Reading comprehension is such a lost art. The second sentence in my post starts with “lots of football to go”. But thank you for your brilliant insight. -

I don't know if discussing the Dolphins as a contender is exactly laughable. Lots of football to go, but if the season end now, for the Bills to advance to the Super Bowl, (and things otherwise went according to seed), we would have to through Baltimore in Baltimore, KC in KC, and Miami in Miami. Betting odds are probably the most accurate indicator of likelyhoods. It seems reasonable for people to have them in the discussion at his point in time. -

Words are important. Each of them has a different meaning. For example, the original poster used the word "should". Your post seems to be a furious reply to a different question. -

The premise of the original post was not to consider mcdermott for not winning the super bowl, but rather advancing to the NFL final four. That is a meaningful accomplishment but only 50% of the way to finishing a post season with a championship. (WC,divisional, conf champ, super bowl). To be fair I decided to take a look on the coaches who have made it to the championship game since McDermott became head coach. AFC: Andy Reid, 2018,2019,2020,2021, 2022 Zac Taylor, 2021, 2022 Bill Belichek, 2018 Mike Vrabel, 2019 Sean McDermott, 2020 NFC: Sean McVay 2018,2021 Sean Peyton 2018 Kyle Shanahan. 2019,2021,2022 Matt Lafleur, 2019, 2020 Bruce Arians, 2020 Nick Sirianni, 2022 Everyone on the list is a good coach. Not everyone is the best coach. It should be noted, that not everyone had 5 shots, because of when they were hired, or retired. There is only two guys who are guaranteed to be in the HOF someday. Although I expect at least 4 to be there eventually. -
If you are winning by 20+ points, most teams increase the amount of rushes. Patriots have been spanked in several games.

What kind of football background do you have?

They both have contracts. If the Bills want to get rid of McDermott he gets paid. He they want to keep Beane and he decides to leave, Beane does not get paid his many many many millions of dollars. Unlikely he gives that up. -

A caddy once told me "we are writing down numbers, not pictures" after I skipped a ball off of a pound onto a green. He was right. But it did not change the fact about how bad my golf game was. The picture would have been more reflective of my real skill, than the number we wrote down. .. -

I thought that was the draft the other poster was referring too. -

Are you sure Beane had even been hired when the pick used on Mahome was traded away? -

A better poll question would be "how many years should Sean McDermott remain as the Bills head coach, if he never gets to a Super Bowl" 6 years, 2023 - Josh Allen is 27 7 years, 2024 - Josh Allen is 28 8 years, 2025 - Josh Allen is 29 9 years, 2026- Josh Allen is 30 10 years, 2027 - Josh Allen is 31 11 years, 2028 - Josh Allen is 32 (final year of current contract) 16 years - 2033 Josh Allen is 38 22 years - 2039 Jos Allen is 44 -

The question in the original post does not specify the 2023 season. Should we interpret this to mean the 2023 season or does it mean “ever”? How do guarantee it. Rivera won a Super Bowl with less talent. -

Tom Landry was canned. Chuck Noll was forced to retire. Super Bowl winners Doug pederson and Mike McCarthy were fired. Drought derangement syndrome may be one cause of people over eating McDermotts success level. Another possibility is that some people think the performance expectations for coaches in the NFL wre too high. I think our closest comp is Dan reeves and John Elway. Reeves for nine seasons. Shanahan tool ever and got the Broncos to the superbowl his second season I think McDermott will be given the whole nine seasons Absurd question. Name me coaches that you guarantee can’t get to the playoffs with Josh Allen and the rest of this roster -

His Coach Don Shula did coach the only undefeated season in NFL history. Personally I don’t McDermott has earned a similar level of goodwill to Shula. maybe that is just me. -

Zac Taylor and Nick Sirianas are probably not the two coaches you think of as great, yet both got their teams to the Super Bowl, by their third season. There may simply be some advantage to fresh eyes on the situation. -

The McDermott / Allen combination is already in nearly unprecendented status. They have been together a long time without advancing to the Super Bowl. Actually the longest combination since the 1970's (Madden/Stabler). NFL head coaching sometimes looks like a terrible burnout job (see Dick Vermeil). My personal assessment based on what little I see on TV during the games and in interviews is that McDermott might be suffering a bit from burnout. Assuming that speculation is correct, that all militates towards making a change. However, if in the post-season, the Bills seem to be meaningfully better than the post-season Bills have the past several seasons, the coaching staff should be retained. Separately, fear of returning to a playoff drought with Allen and without McDermott borders on being a true mental illness. This drought derangement syndrome should not factor into any decision making. Is it possible that Beane could be responsible for hiring a new HC. My understanding is that the GM hiring the coach is a pretty common method.
