I get frustrated when the Bills lose focus and drop a couple of winnable early season games, ensuring we go on the road. Not sure we sweat the details as well as the Chiefs do.

I agree with that observation. But the beginning of this discussion is whether or not it is a coaching issue or a personnel issue. This is the personnel set that overwhelmed us yesterday: Do you think the Chiefs would do worse against our defens, with our offensive personnel? Real question.

Josh will have to find solace in the hundreds of millions of dollars he will earn, his marriage to a beutiful woman, and the adoration of a a million people in western ny. He will find a way to work through it.

I agree with the sentiment. But would a torn PCL in the knee, make the turn back to the ball extra challenging? I have no idea personally.

One of my children is a high school varsity basketball head coach. So I am shifting my emotional sports investment to high school basketball for the next couple months. As far as the Bills go, in the last off-season I maintained the Bills were a lock to win the division, and a lock to advance to the divisional round of the playoffs, and then we would see where we stand. I am making the same prediction for the 2025 season. We will find out about a year from now if we improved. Everything in between now and then, from free agency to the draft to the preseason to the regular season is just for fun. Won't show us much of anything.

It has seemed to me for some time that Coach McDermott wants to win "his way" with "his guys" and his is less interested in simply finding a way to win. this is not what I said. I said fourth best offensive set of personnel. This includes QB and linemen. that is a fair criticism.

Allen gap to Goff is substantial. I think it beats out the other components. With the addition of Barkley, they Eagles may be stronger Ravens I think are only comparable, not better. Just not clear, I can the GM for having the fourth best offensive set of personnel. The problem clearly is on defense against top teams. I can't find a way to blame this on beane, unless someone confirms, that McDermott and Beane are not aligned on the prototype.

This is an absurd standard. It is like saying you can't know your steak is overcooked at a restaurant, unless you are willing to identify who you want to re-cook the steak. The defense has been bad in every chiefs playoff game. special teams have been awful in every single chiefs playoff game. Its fair for people to desire that something change, without identifying the specifics of the change. This seems to be the obvious gap. The defense works pretty well, when the front four can get pressure on their own. This works decently against poor olines, and teams without top QBs. But it seems to be well demonstrated that top QBs and olines are going to score more than 30 against the Bills on a regular basis. The bizzare thing to me is that the defense is clearly small but also seems to be slow.

I imagine Josh would tell McDermott face to face, and if McDermott declined, Josh would NOT go public with his request. And then we will be shocked when he signs the big FA agreement with San Francisco.

Well, I am not sure why we take cook out. If you take Henry out the Ravens, decline, if you Barkley out the Eagles decline. Which teams do you think have a better combo of Oline, QBing and Skill players. It is not clear to me, but it seems to be clear to you. I am willing to be convinced.

He is definitely coming back. This is a hypothetical discussion. I think he will have Jeff Fisher level longevity with the team.

Real question. Did Coach McDermott say he was outcoached by Andy Reid yesterday?

Historically they are viewed as joined at the hip ( a crazy concept to me, but a popularly held view) . On the offensive side of the ball, its not clear any teams in the league have a better oline, QB, skills player combination. While I don't love Joe Brady in the clutch, the Bills did lead the league in points per drive this season. I don't really know that from a pure productivity standpoint we can improve from our number 1 position. (note Bills and Ravens gapped out from the pack, and both were about 40% above league average) On the defensive side of the ball, the Bills players seem to fit such a specific profile that it is hard for me to imagine, that McDermott is not the architect of "the profile" Assuming for argument sake he is the architect of the profile, someone needs to determine if the profile is flawed, or if Beane can't find the right players for the profile. You don't get the point. AND others think serious fans, should have a rolodex of names to suggest.

If you are every on Wheel of Fortune and have a few extra bucks instead of buying a vowel, I would encourage you to buy a clue.

Pay me 9 million per year, and give me a large staff and a few weeks, and I will put together a list, with reasons explaining the pros and cons of each choice, vs McDermott

I agree with this. I also agree with "if the top end of the available market is Aaron Glenn, Joe Brady and Brian Shottenheimer", then I am probably keeping McDermott.

i dont understand your point. Two of the eight options are for retaining the coach. One of the two for removing the coach (currently the most popular selection ) includes "coach is good"

I never heard of Sean McVay before he was hired. Has been to two super bowls. I don't love Nick Sirianis, but he is on his way to his second super bowl. Never heard of him before being hired either. This is my assessment of Sean McDermott : Demonstrated ability to win a weak AFC divison with Top 3 QB in the NFL, occassionally gets past divsional round, maybe some day will get to a super bowl or win a super bowl. I suspect a lot of coachs fit that description. But it seems like some fans think "unless you can guarantee a super bowl win with a coaching change, you can't even consider a coaching change". For me I am not sure why giving the same person the "Maybe some day" chance, is better than giving multiple people that chance. McDermott is in rare terrority for longevity with one team without championship success.

I am not a McDermott fan. But he seems to have succeeded in building a team, rather than a collection of individuals. Team building is an important skill. He seems to be a players coach. From a players perspective that is a good thing. I think he brings those things to the table. In fact, it seems like he may very well be great at all of the coaching elements that occur before game day, and maybe only an average game day coach.

Trying to be fair. Losing in the championship game hardly means it was a bad season. On the other hand, never getting further than the championship game with the best QB in franchise history in seven seasons is disappointing. Which poll choice comes closest to your viewpoint at this time?

Giving the QB "a chance to be a hero" is not the hallmark of a good defense. The entire Bills game plan revolves around compensating for a defense that can't match up against the better QBs/Olines

If you are happy with making the divisional round of the playoffs, i feel like it is very low risk to make a change in HC. I think at least 20 of today's NFL coaches would make the divisional round of the playoffs with this Bills offensive roster.

What are we blaming Beane for? A defensive scheme that can't stop top offensives in the post season every year? Special teams that are bad in every game? Because those seem like coaching problems, not personnel problems. I think the problem the Bills have is that they are stale. five minutes into this game, fans on this board were posting various versions of "here we go again", and most of those comments turned out to be correct.
