  1. Does going from an historically easy schedule to one which is likely to be more difficult, have any impact on your scoring expectations?
  2. Notwithstanding the many knee jerk reactions, this is actually an interesting proposition. Not sure what I would do. I doubt either are in the league 3 years from now. It really comes down to who I think is going to do the most this year. Not sure who that would be.
  3. Do you also question the reactions of every other country in the free world?
  4. When was the last time before COVID-19 that an infectious disease killed more than 50k Americans in a thirty day period?
  5. Personally, I would like to see the season end the Scheduled Super Bowl date of Feb. 7, 2021. That means the 2021 season is not impacted by a stretched out 2020 season. If the season starts on Oct. 18, that provides for 17 Sunday from Oct. 18 to Feb 7. I would propose the teams play a twelve game schedule, and then have all 32 teams in a playoff tournament. The 12 game schedule will determine the seeding. Rounds of 31-16-8-4-2 would take five weeks and allow things to end on schedule. Its a bit cheesy, but even if an 0-12 team were to go on a five game winning streak to win the Super Bowl, it would still be an impressive feat to win five playoff games in a row.
  6. In other words Beane made very conventional picks. If they result in a championship, these are great. If we don't win playoff games, then they likely were not great. Time will tell. But one can't be great on projections, only results. Don't get me wrong. Beane is competent. I have zero problem with extending him, in order to avoid a return to incompetence. I am just not polishing his Canton bust until we win more playoff games. In a row.
  7. Draft "value" is a meaningless concept. Just measures what happened against someones guess from before the draft.
  8. For Beane to be a "great" GM, there are two steps (same as anyone else). First, a deep playoff run with Allen under a rookie contract, next a deep playoff run after Allen gets a major QB payday. Until those things happen he is simply a good GM. The confusion comes from comparing him to decades of terrible GMs. Good is much much better than terrible. But coffee (and the "great" label) are for closers.
  9. excited to see the Panthers pick, likely to be a Bill circa 2024
  10. Lots of zeros, Maybin, Flowers, Mike Williams. But EJ Manuel was a giant negative that set the team back dramatically. Nature of the drafting a failed QB.
  11. Trading the pick was my first thought. But I feel like if there is a QB needy team who drafts after us in the second round, who did not take Tua in round 1, but still likes him, they would move up to take him earlier in the second round.
  12. Interesting observation. I had not thought of that.
  13. Quarantine got you down? Or are you always a grump?
  14. Its a shame last years defense was not playoff win caliber. If they had held on to beat the Texans, apparently they would have led us to victory in the Super Bowl.

  16. people always over rate draft picks. Diggs upgrades WR1, WR2, WR3 AND WR4. There could be no greater impact.
  17. You are using facts which don't conform to my feelings that he totally sucked, because he wasn't not as great is in the past, because you know there are only two levels of play 1) greatest ever 2) totally sucked.
  18. Sorry you can't grasp the point. Teams don't want to do what they did the first thirty years in the league. They are going to invest millions in the young players and are willing to wait a month so they can do all of their proper due diligence. And I am great fun to hang out with. People enjoy my company because I am not a selfish tool who wants the world to entertain them.
  19. Physicals and face to face visits are considered important parts of preparing for a draft. Teams are not allowed to do either right now, hence the need to postpone things. If a delayed NFL draft is on your list of "problems in life", then you likely have a great life. Rejoice in that knowledge.
  20. Minshew looked pretty good for a few games. I think he is an NFL starter quality QB. He is not as good as Allen.
  21. If you were Beane, you would not post here ?
  22. Chiefs have more or less traded out of the draft all together in recent years. Long term that seems to have been a super bowl winning strategy. The trading down thing is more myth than reality.
  23. The context being what it is, the facts do not seem to suggest Williams was trying to hurt anyone or plan to hurt anyone. It is also possible he is not an expert on the gun laws in NY. (most likely, he has not been to social media law school). Ignorance of the law is not an excuse, but if this is the first offense for Williams, it seems to me it is the type of thing where he should simply end up with a warning of sorts.
  24. Did not read the whole thread. Does this mean Josh Gordon’s problems are expunged?
