Chiefs have 12 draft picks. Bengals have 7, Bills have 6. Nothing in the draft tracking record suggests the 2023 draft is the place we are going to close the gap. I am hoping that last years playoff failures were a function of injuries and emotional exhaustion from an unusual season. I fear that like when the Bills exposed the limitations of the Raven's offense, a strategy copied by other good teams, that the Bengals exposed the limitations of their defensive scheme, and that absent significant innovation, other teams will follow the Bengals blue print.

Based pretty much on one great decision followed by a careers worth of average decision making. And average beats the hell out of Doug Whaley and Buddy Nix.

The team that wins the Super Bowl is the best team. Definitions have taught us that.

Spending more than the NFL minimum salary on backup QB for this roster is insane. If Allen is gone, we lose.

There is merit to your point. However we came into the 2022 season overwhemling favorites to win the Super Bowl. That was the last hurrah of chapter 1. And that ship has sailed. The Bills may not even be favored to win the division in 2023.

Pretty unhappy with McDermotts "You can never replace Tremaine Edmunds" comments. Is he is laying the groundwork for 2023 failures on defense excuses? He can't possible think Edmund's can't be replaced.

For better or worse, they will get to finish Chapter 2. another 4 or 5 seasons. If Chapter 2 includes a Super Bowl win, both will likely be in Buffalo for as long as they want. Even if they don't win a championship Sean McDermott could very well be our Jeff Fisher.

White and Dawson and Von Miller were three of our highest paid players last season. The level of production we got out them (Miller was zero after injury), is one of the key reasons we floundered in the playoffs. If you look at what the Chiefs, niners, Eagles and Bengals got out of their top paid players, the difference is astounding.

This is an expected administrative move the team needs to make to comply with the Salary cap. It is something 31 other GMs would do if they were here. This benefits the players and takes zero negotiating skill to get them to agree to it. People seem to be repsonding to these moves as if we have $50 million of cap space to sign top end free agents at multiple positions.
