The auxillary question is, did the Bronco's make the correct decision having Dan Reeves coach the first 11 years of John Elways career?

My understanding is that McDermott is a "Defensive HC". A lot of people think the defense will get better if Frazier is gone. If this defense is McDermott's scheme, and the personnel we have on the roster have been picked for their fit to the scheme, what is the expected upside of replacing Frazier? Is it simply play calling, or do people think McDermott is going to give free reign to a new DC to install their own system?

you seem to miss the point. Landry and Reid actually made it to championship games and super bowls. McDermott is a divisional round playoff guy after peaking three seasons ago.

I think this is the issue. How do you change the defense with McDermott as head coach. That is supposed to be his forte. McDermott takes no ownerhsip of the offense, and lets face it, he is not a top tier game day coach. So if he hires a DC with free reign, what is the purpose of McDermott being here.

They changed this not too many years back, because the coaches on the successful teams were being screwed out of opportunities. Don't see this changing. It is certainly not tampering.

The last time an HC Combo won their first super bowl together after their fourth season together was John Madden and Kenny Stabler in the 70's. Anything is possible, some outcomes are more predictable than others.
