Peak Allen (on an individual game basis) is higher than any player in NFL history. That alone will ensure he is added to the hall of fame.

I am sure it is discussed earlier in the thread. Is there an agreed up definition of "most valuable". In other sports outside of the USA, the term "player of the year" is more common than "most valuable". It seems like Bills fans (me included) want to deduct points from Jackson, for having a better supporting cast than Allen. But I am not sure that is reasonable. It seems to me that the currency in the NFL for success is "wins". And that the "most valuable" player is the player whose season would have contributed the most wins to any NFL whose roster they were added too. Its a complicated task to assess all 32 teams. For example, would either Allen or Jackson, have made the lions better than 14-3, or the Eagles better than 14-3. How many more wins would the Broncos have with either of them added? Would the Bengals have won more games with either of them rather than Burrows? Same question for Chiefs/Mahomes. I think if you go through the league, you find that adding either Allen or Jackson would have similar impact on any team they were added too. I think in the end, MVP voters are probably looking at tiebreakers between Allen and Jackson, similar to team tiebreakers. Head to Head, and strength of schedule beeing two of them. Jackson won the head to head. Ravens had the 8th hardest SOS. The Bills had the 27th hardest schedule. Both of those pretty strongly favor Jackson as "player of the year" But if the phrase means tell me the player i want to build my franchise around, its still Allen or 15-1 Mahomes, both far ahead of Jackson.

1 game out 17 = 5.8%. The rest of the quarters sat, adds up to the other 5.2%.

the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems

Yes, your post correlated Hall of Fame coaches to Quarterbacks. It had nothing to do with win percentage. Factually speaking only four QBs ever made the hall of fame without playing for a hall of fame coach. I don't know if you ever play sports, but coaching can stick with players for their whole career, long after the coach has moved on. -
I agree they are doing as good of a job as they can. But I am confident others could have done a better job.

Deshaun Watson suffers 2nd achillies rupture
Chaos replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Does this allow for any sort of negotiated injury settlement? (Not sure Watson has any incentive to do that though). But Watson probably cares more about the cash than the cap hit, and if there is something that allows the Browns to get out from the cap situation, he might be willing to help with that. -
Do you think the LA Fire Department did a good job preparing for this possible event? Do you think they have done a good job reacting to the event? Do you imagine there was any room for improvement?

In a rationale market it would not depopulate, property prices would simply decline to a level, that allows the owners to pay appropriate insurance premiums.

The top 1 NFC team is all that matters for the AFC teams at this point. But I think having a bunch of doormats in the AFC, means it is the overall weaker division at this time. The bills certainly benefitted from being in the biggest doormat division.

the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems

Josh Allen was always going to succeed. There may have been another round of fools, as he saw coming out of high school and JUCO. But Allen's work ethic, intelligence and talent were always going to lead him to success. -

It works the other way too. There are 29 NFL HOF QBs 25 of them played for a hall of fame coach. 3 of the other four played for coaches who still may yet be added to the hall of fame (semi-finalists and finalists in past votes. The only QB in the hall of fame who never played for a future Hall of Fame (or near HOF) coach was Warren Moon. Holgrem is almost certain. Hard to understand why Shanahan is left out. Buddy Parker is an old-time, so don't have an opinion, but he did make it as a finalist in voting once. -
NFC won almost 60% of the head to head matchups this year. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/afc-vs-nfc-record-year-by-year-all-teams-grouped-by-conference-last-20-years The common narrative that the AFC is better than the NFC may be a bit outdated.

Whatever...this is my suggested playoff alteration.
Chaos replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall
The current system is broken. So is this proposal. In the NFC this year, the 14-3 Vikings would have to play two more playoff games than the 14-3 eagles. -
That is because no capitol police shot unarmed people

Seeing the end of the despotic Biden and Trudeau regimes at the same time reminds me of the Berlin Wall being torn down. let Freedom ring.

Very impressive statistical. It truly is an outlier in the history of the NFL. Also probably less important that people think. In the modern NFL a punt is not much different than a turnover against the stronger teams. NFL games are not nearly as much about field position as they were even 30 years ago. The 15-1 Chiefs were 11th in turnover differential. The Chiefs were #1 in points scored per drive minus pts allowed per drive. Stops are not as dramatic as turnovers. But nearly as effective.

Mayo seemed like a jerk. Team didn't improve a lick during the season. Didn't show anything warranting wasting Mayo for an extended period of time. Their are simply better options.
-
This reminds me of the Broncos firing Nate Hackett or Jags firing Urban Meyers. Bad hire. Move on.
-
NFL organizations are faced with tough decisions. Depends on the framing of the issue. If the judgement is "Vrabel is better than Mayo" and the judgement is "Its not or never for Vrabel", then its not a dysfunctional decision to replace him. The patriots don't exist to give Mayo a chance to "prove himself". Vrabel iwhtout the benefit of a Top QB, made it to the playoffs a handful of times, losing to the Chiefs, and Bengals and Ravens. Once in a championship game. If he had been a Bills coach this track record would be considered irreplaceable by many Bills fans.

hate it when completely different topics get bizzarely merged

Mayo seems to be an ass. Don't feel bad for him.

21-0. Going to be the Broncos for the WC. What's your prognosis?
