Undoubtedly, there will be a moment or two this season where something critically horrible happens because of a bad punt. Bills did the right thing here.

Yeah, that's not how it works. The 3 known people would have been arrested and charged. No way that they wouldn't squeal on the other two people, either out of just being an idiot and talking to the cops, or as part of some deal offering. They don't just wait for every single person to be ID'd before doing anything at all, especially in a gang rape case which could potentially be charged as a capital crime (unlikely but possible). But I will say yes, you could be right. Not really saying you're not, just that with my time in the CJ world, that's been my experience with how things usually develop. Either way, awful as hell all around.

Sure, but it's out of the ordinary for a civil suit to be served before charges have been filed. You're a hell of a lot more likely to win a civil suit if you've got a guilty verdict from the criminal case to back you up. Either way, I'm inclined to believe the victim, but maybe we'll be surprised. I never thought i'd be as excited about a punter as I've been with this guy, so this blows. Time to give Moorman some stem cell injections I guess.

So a report was filed immediately, and the authorities were actively involved. And this was nearly a year ago. This genuinely sounds like something didn't add up for this to even go to the DA or the grand jury. I'd like to know the details behind that aspect of the incident. Maybe it was included somewhere but I haven't seen such a detail discussed.

There are definitely some strange aspects to this. With an alleged event that apparently has so much evidence (DNA, the phone call, perhaps witness corroboration) it is peculiar this wasn't brought before the DA soon after it actually allegedly occurred. These kind of cases where allegations are brought forward a significant time after the supposed event usually hinge on circumstantial evidence and lack the tangibility this one supposedly has. Really odd. I guess it's possible she just didn't want to bring charges before?

This ***** sucks and there's absolutely no way he stays on the team. The optics on this are horrible, it's more than likely more true than not true, and after the Watson fiasco, there's just no way this blows over. This is a gut punch, and what happened to the victim is terrible and what's most important. Just awful.

That's how it looks on paper to start with, but I think we've seen enough to know that these things are fluid and it could end up being much different than the current expectations suggest.

I genuinely believe this game is the first of the season so that the league/fans get to revisit the “what if?” of whether buffalo had gone to the super bowl, and what potentially would have happened. Teams have changed somewhat, but if the Bills win this game, expect the hype train to become even bigger. God I don’t wanna lose this game. And 5 prime time games!
