  1. These “what if” debates are pointless because judging GMs based on who they didn’t draft is generally an unfair metric. There are some situations in which it would be fair, but this isn’t one of them. For example, if the Jets trade away the first pick and Lawrence becomes a superstar, it would be fair to hammer them. Mahomes wasn’t the consensus can’t miss guy, though. He wasn’t even the consensus number 2 QB. There’s a reason he was available at 10. McDermott had a plan. He wanted to use his pick at 10 as a way to move up in the 2018 draft and grab a QB. He did that, and if Allen turns into a legit star, it would be a success even if he had given up his first in 2017 and 2018 entirely to move up in 2018. He didn’t, though. He moved down in 2017 in order to move up in 2018 and still walked away with a ProBowl CB. Read that again. McDermott had the 10th pick in the 2017 draft and the 22nd pick in the 2018 draft. He turned that into an elite CB and a potentially elite QB. Oh by the way, he managed to take the team to the playoffs for the first time in 18 years in the season separating the two drafts. And people are STILL complaining. It makes no sense.
  2. Colts, Ravens, Steelers, and Chiefs top the list in no particular order.
  3. Josh is having a great season, but he’s just not the type of player who you can put the ball in his hands 57 times and expect a clean game. That’s just not who he is as a player. If you’re going to ride him, you have to take the bad with the good. He may learn how to be a game manager some day, but he’s a gunslinger today.
  4. The Chiefs had NOTHING at LB last season, and Lee could barely sniff the field beyond some special teams snaps.
  5. Don’t everyone start throwing offers out at once...
  6. The Patriots are about to pack it in. Sounds like Gilmore is on the trading block.
  7. It was such a weird pick. There wasn’t a single back taken until the 32nd pick. 54 picks later, Moss was the 9th taken. If you’re going to go RB in the third, it seems like you would want it to be a top 5 guy at a minimum (which is exactly what Singletary was the year before). As it stands, McBeans’s spent two second day picks on RBs who don’t have an elite attribute between them. That’s not to say they’re bad players, but a good GM should be able to find serviceable RBs in the late rounds or in free agency. Hell, Fournette and Bell were mid season cuts just this year.
  8. The Bills aren’t losing a game to the Jets. (But it’s a good thing they’re playing the Jets.)
  9. The Dolphins had a very limited ceiling with Fitzpatrick under center. Their floor is lower now, but their ceiling is much higher. I still think the Bills win the division, but Miami has been the best team so far.
  10. Terrible teams somehow manage to finish with unusual scores. 30-12 Bills
  11. He’d have completed 28 passes on 26 attempts if he hadn’t missed a bunch of throws. His biggest “miss” was still a completion.
  12. Lineman can be downfield as long as the were engaged with defenders when they went downfield. In this play, they clearly were. It’s perfectly legal. The rule is intended to prevent linemen from mimicking eligible receivers. The defenders disengaged to chase the QB. it’s hilarious that you think the Chiefs were lucky to win a game in which they outgained their opponent 466-206. The Bills got their asses kicked, and it wasn’t because of linemen illegally downfield.
  13. There were 4 penalties called in the first half. All were on the Chiefs. Three gave Buffalo first downs following incompletions on third and long. The fourth took a Chiefs TD away after a lineman blew up a DB.
  14. There are 4 O linemen and 4 D linemen who all peeled off and chased the QB. Perfectly legal play. I guess some people watch the NFL and walk away thinking that the game would be more entertaining if every other play resulted in a penalty over an obscure rule. Those same people would love to see 45 travels and 15 three seconds in the lane violations called per game in basketball. 15 million people just watched two teams with one win each play on a Thursday night while the Presidential debates we’re taking place. Audiences are doing anything but dwindling. The only thing that kept Buffalo in the game was the officiating, and you’re still bitching.
  15. None of those guys are the GM. Yet again, I’m amazed that anyone other than the Bills ever win a game. Only the Bills have good players, after all.
  16. That was like a fever dream. Like something is chasing you, and you run forever but you can never get away. His face!
  17. They’ve got a plan. You know my thoughts on Allen coming into this season as well as anyone. If you’d have told me he’d be playing this well, I’d have told you they’d be undefeated. I can not figure out how the rest of the roster has been this bad. As bad as they’ve looked the last two weeks (and honestly they’ve been really up and down even in their wins), I still think this could be a really good team. When they’re clicking, they look special, but they look really ugly at times.
  18. This team is still a year away. McBeane isn’t going to mortgage the future just yet. Just look at the board, and you see people hoping to trade for a DE, a DT, a TE, a RB, and OL. When you’ve got that many holes, you aren’t filling them all in week 7. At this point, you roll with what you’ve got and swing big in the off-season using every tool at your disposal. Approaching the midway point of the season, this team doesn’t appear to be a Watt or Ertz away from a Super Bowl.
  19. You think the Jets are afraid of losing the game because of the trade? They’re in tank mode. They WANT to lose. He’s easily worth a second round pick, and he’s a significantly better player than EO.
  20. The Chiefs, Packers, and Seahawks all had mediocre at best lines whose QBs made them look better than they actually were. The Chiefs just averaged 60 yards per possession against the Bills without their best lineman (injury at RT), without their starting guard coming into the season (COVID opt out), without the guard they signed to replace him (injury) and with their backup center (benched due to poor play). How did they manage to get 27 first downs on 8 possessions while missing 4 players on the O line? They did it because Buffalo was so scared of Mahomes killing them deep that they put 6 in the box the entire time. The Chiefs ran for 245 yards, and Mahomes still managed to complete over 80% of his passes in terrible passing conditions. KC played with 2 TEs most of the game, so they had 7 guys blocking 6 defenders. It doesn’t take a great Offensive Line to win under those circumstances. The Chiefs won that game before it started because of the game plan Mahomes forced the Bills into.
  21. Just looked at the standings. The Dolphins have outscored their opponents by 47 points. Every other team in the division has been outscored. Patriots are -1, Bills are -12, Jets are -110.
