Are they trying to set some sort of record by having the highest number of players over the age of 30 play on defense in a single season?

He is what he’s always been, a gifted athlete who would rather do his own thing and be a good LT instead of truly dedicating himself and being one of the top guys in the game. This isn’t a surprise. If he were the type of guy who really dedicated himself, he’d be making $23m a year. Instead, he plays like a $15m a year guy and gets paid $15m a year. You can’t really fault a guy for being exactly who he’s always been. If you want an elite LT, you either draft someone and hope they become elite or you find someone who is already elite and pay them elite money.

Few things not being talked about concerning this offense.

By my count, there was exactly one time that Josh took a true drop back (ie. not a pre-determined quick-hitter, screen, or roll out) in which he didn’t have help. It was the play where Golden smoked him and he had to tackle him to prevent Josh from getting drilled. He didn’t “look good against Watt”. There wasn’t a single snap in which he had to man-up against him. Literally every single snap where there were both in the game was game-planned to prevent Brown from having to pass protect. That’s to be expected against one of the few truly elite pass rushers in the game, but you can’t really say that a Tackle held up well against a guy when the offense built an entire game plan around not leaving him on an island. -

Clearly a well researched article. They’ve got Richie James and Rashee Rice listed as TEs. -
Preseason Week 2 Games Around the League

Y’all are really in here talking about how the Browns QB is going to challenge Watson for a starting job, and the Eagles defense looks suspect and they’re overrated as a team? I just turned it on, and it’s 8-3 Cleveland at halftime, the only player in the game I’ve ever heard of is Marcus Mariotta, and I didn’t even know he played for Cleveland. You might want to pump the brakes. -
So your entire post was great and I’d like to dive into it a bit more just because I like talking football, but I found this part to be funny (and this is tongue in cheek)… You’re saying most big plays that aren’t made by QBs are made by either WRs, Tackles, Pass Rushers, or Corners…except for when they’re made by TEs. Paging @Captain Obvious.

Positional value is an important consideration, but we aren't talking about top ten picks here. Humphrey was taken at pick 63. Buffalo could have had him at pick 61. If you can get any starter at that point, it's a win. If that starter is elite from day 1, it's a home run. I'm curious who you think would have been a better pick at 61 if you had a redo. Given that Jason Kelce is one of the top paid Centers and Creed was taken in the second round, I'm not sure there is much merit in the idea that allocating resources to the position means your organization can't evaluate talent.

500 yards and 4 TDs seems very achievable, but only 3 rookie TEs have done it since 2010. That's how rare it is for a rookie TE to be a difference maker. Evan Engram did it last back in 2017. Last season 3 TEs had 750 yards and 5 TDs (your year two projection). True difference makers at TE are just incredibly rare.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he a coach's kid, too? He's the kind of guy you'd like your sister to date.
-
It only tells you nothing if you choose to ignore it. Rookie TEs have a long history of not being immediately productive. Last season, Trey McBride was the first TE taken. He had 29 catches, 265 yards, and 1 TD. The top performer was Okonkwo who had 32/450/3. In 2021, Pitts was the first taken at pick 4 overall. He's got 96 catches, 1382 yards, and 3 TDs in two seasons. Friermuth has been the most productive TE from that class with 123/1229/9. In 2020, Kmet was the first taken at 43rd overall. In three seasons, he's put up 138/1399, 9. He's been the only TE from that class to do anything at all In 2019, Hockenson was the 8th overall pick. In four seasons, he's got 246/2587/18. He's been the most productive from that class. Even the most elite TE prospects put up very pedestrian numbers early in their careers. Kincaid was largely considered to be the best or second best prospect this year, but he wasn't considered to be elite. If there was any reason to believe that he was, he wouldn't have made it anywhere near the 25th pick in a weak draft class. Now that doesn't mean that DK won't put up big rookie numbers, but it would make him an extreme outlier. Assuming that a late first round pick is going to be historically productive based on nothing more than a few weeks of training camp coach-speak and one pre-season game where he played six snaps and had no stats doesn't make a ton of sense.

Rousseau seems like the guy most likely to have a true breakout season.
-
You do know what my point is. That’s why you left out the part about giving the biggest contract ever to a Guard plus trading a first round pick for a Pro Bowl LT. If $21m over 3 years and the 59th pick in the draft is the price to fix an offensive line, no team should ever have a bad one.
-
If all it takes to go from a terrible offensive line to a solid one is grabbing a JAG in free agency and a late second round rookie to play Guard, the Jets should be able to finagle something between now and the start of the season.

You’ve clearly not read the rest of this thread. Denying it is all anyone has done.

Rank the top 5 from top to bottom and name 3 dangerous outsider
Billl replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not talking about rankings. You said the Chiefs are trending down. I’m just asking what trend you’re referring to. A trend is a sequence of events that moves in a specific direction. For example, losing an uncompetitive game in the Conference Championship, losing in a competitive Divisional round game and then losing an uncompetitive game in the Divisional round is a downward trend. Losing in the Conference Championship Game, winning the Super Bowl, losing the Super Bowl, losing the Conference Championship game, and winning the Super Bowl is not a downward trend. Saying you don’t think they deserved to win games that they won is also not a trend. -

What is this based on? How it possible that there is a downward trend when the last game they played was the Super Bowl that they won? -

The Chiefs and their 5 straight AFC Championship games and coming off a Super Bowl win are trending down? 1. Chiefs - Obvious choice 2. Eagles - The only other team who has an argument for number 1 3. Bengals - Biggest threat to unseat the Chiefs in the AFC 4. Bills - Loaded roster, but they started to show their age last year, and they only got older losing Edmunds and adding Floyd 5. Jaguars - I’m not a huge believer in Lawrence, but they’re a real threat if he becomes elite 49ers, Lions, and Dolphins are all very flawed teams who are elite in certain areas. Just don’t see how there’s any argument for anyone other than the Chiefs and Eagles being the two best teams in whatever order.
