  1. Or what if Josh had thrown the ball to Diggs who was wide open right in front of Josh?
  2. This is embarrassing. Josh was awful. He needs to play better.
  3. He's over 30 and coming off an injury. Of course Beane is interested.
  4. Or at the spot of the fumble. It’s ridiculous.
  5. Time for the stupidest rule in sports to rear it’s ugly head.
  6. I think it’s best to just acknowledge that Allen isn’t going to suddenly change who he is 6 seasons into his career. Let him stop worrying about it and just do what he does. Yes, it will probably shorten his career, but it is what it is. His willingness to take one in order to give one is part of what makes him effective.
  7. Buy: Rousseau - I think he's strangely undervalued in this board. Allen aside, he might be the most valuable asset on the team in terms of his talent versus salary. Sell: Hyde and Poyer - They're old and slow, and that's only going to get worse as the season goes on. Hold: White - Looked good at times and not so good at other times. With Elam's status being in doubt, they really need White to get back to his previous level.
  8. If you remove QB from the equation, the Bills have a very average roster. In the AFC, I would say that the Bengals, Ravens, Browns, Chiefs, Chargers, Jets, Dolphins, and Jaguars all have better rosters. In order for the Bills to make the Superbowl, Allen will have to outplay all of those QBs by enough to overcome that stagger. That's a tough ask.
  9. Weird. He literally kicked a FG on fourth and 2 on consecutive possessions while tied and then up 3 in week 1.
  10. He absolutely would have. He's one of the most conservative coaches in the game when it comes to 4th downs.
  11. How does anyone come away from that game thinking that the Bills running backs were the problem?
  12. So it's somehow not as bad of a play if your teammate happens to fall on the ball you fumbled? Josh didn't recover any fumbles himself, so it's not like he was responsible for fixing his own mistake. That's like saying the pass he threw yesterday that hit Mosley in the chest wasn't a bad play because Mosley dropped it. Fumbling 3 times in a playoff game is worth taking note of whether you care to admit it or not. It's also worth nothing that Allen lost the ball on another play last night, but it was ruled that his forward progress was stopped. He has a massive issue with ball security. That's not exactly a secret. In fairness, I edited my original post because I quoted the wrong piece of Cincy's post initially.
  13. Take away two of the top 10 players in the NFL, and suddenly they're average. Who would've guessed?
  14. He also threw two interceptions and fumbled three times in that game. He was the only reason Miami was able to keep it competitive.
  15. Anyone who is surprised that Elam isn't playing needs to watch the first drive of the second half in the Pittsburgh preseason game. Elam allowed 4 or 5 completions including a TD, got flagged for PI, and fell over backwards after being barely pushed by a WR blocking on a running play.
  16. Does Beane have $27,000,000 of free cap space over the next two seasons and some extra draft capital lying around?
  17. He misses Daboll. He did that a lot his first few seasons.
  18. He’s thrown three absolutely stupid throws. If Mosley could catch, the score would be 13-6 Jets.
  19. Milano has better hands than Mosley.
  20. It’s pretty easy for even the “poorest” owners to borrow against the equity in their franchises in order to secure loans for that escrow money. That money, in turn, can still be invested while it’s in escrow to offset some of the interest on the note. It’s not revenue neutral in most cases, but it’s been wildly overblown in terms of the degree to which it creates an advantage/disadvantage depending on the owners’ net worth.
  21. The season hasn’t even started, and you’re already complaining about officiating. Impressive.
  22. You're forgetting to factor the opportunity cost, though. If Creed replaced Morse, you'd have $10 million of additional call space each of the next two seasons. That could pay for a pretty solid Guard.
  23. Nick Bolton was a second round pick that same year.
  24. So if you remove 20 years of his career in which they won 17 division titles, went to 10 Super Bowls and won 6 championships, he’s slightly below .500?
  25. Tagging a player means you have to pay him the greater of the designated amount for the position or 120% of current salary plus any earned incentives. The DT tag for 2023 is just under $19 million. Jones was set to earn a little over $27 million in 2023, so his tag number for 2024 would be over $32 million. If he misses game checks and incentives in 2023, his franchise number reduces by 120% of whatever the value of the lost compensation is. If he misses 7 game checks, he’s also going to miss all of his incentives. His tag number for next season would then be based entirely on the position designation. That will increase to roughly $20 million next season or about $12 million less than what it would have been had he showed up on time. So if he misses 7 games, he’s going to lose out on $15 million or so this season plus potentially $12 million next season. Plus, there was no chance that he would have been tagged next season if for no other reason than eating a $32 million cap number is untenable. Now, any team would be crazy not to tag him for $20 million.
