Every time this happens, people bring up LeVeon Bell’s situation from 7 years ago. Nobody ever brings up the hundreds of times it’s happened since then where the player has been vindicated. Two years ago, Lamar was an idiot…right up until he signed his massive deal.

There’s no other business where the billionaire owners have been granted an anti-trust exemption and are able to prevent their employees from getting jobs at competitors. Why shouldn’t the players use every bit of leverage they have, and why is Joe Sixpack siding with a bunch of billionaires over the people who get their heads bashed in for our entertainment? Yeah, he’s taking food off of Pegula’s table.

Davis, Johnson, Kincaid, Coleman, Shakir, Knox, and Samuel combined for 18 TDs for Buffalo. Cook had 18.

When the Patriots had a dominant defense and needed a game manager at QB, Brady won championships. When they got him weapons and ran a wide open offense, he put up massive numbers and won championships. When he went to Tampa and was asked to throw the ball 500 times in his mid 40s, he won a championship. He’s the career leader in Super Bowl wins, Super Bowl appearances, Completions, Yards, Wins, TDs, 4th quarter comebacks, and Game Winning Drives. He is the best that’s ever done it. His stats will tell you he’s the best. His awards will tell you he’s the best, and his rings will tell you he’s the best. Trying to argue otherwise is pure nonsense.

It would make sense for Buffalo but not Dallas. Why would they want the most expensive years of Oliver’s contract? Buffalo already got the two cheap years of a back-loaded deal. You’d have to pay a team to take on that contract.

You aren’t factoring in the salary cap hit, though. The Khalil Mack trade brought the Raiders Jacob’s, Arnette, Edwards, a 6th round pick PLUS nearly $25 million a year in cap space (which was the largest contract fora defensive player in history at the time and would be about $45 million in today’s cap dollars). In other words, they could have drafted those players and still had enough cap space to sign the biggest name on the FA market. Yes, the Raiders did what the Raiders do and pissed away their picks, but that doesn’t mean the Bears made a good decision to give up draft picks for the right to give out a market-resetting contract. The salary pays the player. The picks are really for the surplus value of the player’s contract. If the player isn’t going to play on an existing contract, there isn’t any value there. It would be one thing if the player was on a bargain contract and not demanding a new deal, but that’s exceedingly rare. Basically, if a player is worth a $40 million salary and a first round pick, he’s worth a $60 million salary.

This is why teams should (almost) never trade for players. Let’s say that next year he’s franchised and traded. What does the other team have to give up in addition to the 5 years/$225 million contract? Is it really worth giving up draft picks on top of the massive salary cap strain? It’s the ultimate “Super Bowl or Bust” move.
-
Not sure if you’re serious, but either of those players could have been signed in the offseason for no draft compensation. This is like the guy in Fantasy Football who picks up players off the waiver wire and then tries to trade them to you.

Why is anyone talking about Milano and DaQuan Jones as if they have any trade value whatsoever? Milano is a 31 year old coverage LB who has missed most of the past 2 seasons, and DaQuan will be 34 years old this season and hasn’t been productive he past 2 seasons.
-
He’s getting more than $40m. Garrett turns 30 in December. Parsons just turned 26. He’s just entering his prime years, and he’s got a clean injury history. That’s a unicorn.
-
Why hasn’t anyone thought of that before?

While they’re at it, they should build a domed stadium next door to the new open air stadium.
-
Then what if you don’t factor in next year at all? Is making two AFCCGs and one Super Bowl better than making two AFCCGs and three divisional round games?

Bills have a playoff problem..It’s not Josh Allen (Warren Sharp)
Billl replied to BillytheKid's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen’s defenses have given up 19 PPG in the playoffs when they aren’t playing teams Quarterbacked by Mahomes. They’ve given up 33 PPG when they are. -
Hypothetical NFL players that could be traded for a 1st
Billl replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
The fact that he had a very reasonable contract factored heavily into that. -
Bills First Rnd pick in 2025 draft: Maxwell Hairston - CB - Kentucky

That Hairston appears to have called a lie. -
Go BOLD - NFL bold predictions 2025 edition!!

Reading the responses, I’m pretty sure it’s being treated as a “what do you hope happens in 2025?” thread rather than a bold prediction thread. -

Chiefs George Karlaftis extended - 4 years, $93 Million

The Chiefs are so clueless, amirite? -
Where does Khalil Shakir rank in terms of NFL WRs?
Billl replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe more telling is that they’ve got a bunch of slot WRs, and Shakir’s still entrenched in that spot. If he could effectively play on the boundary, they’d put Coleman or Samuel in the slot and instantly improve at two positions. -
Red helmets and standing Buffalo helmets confirmed.
Billl replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s actually really cool. -

In this case, it’s less about the contracts they have and more about the ones they don’t. They have very little dead money, and the closest thing to a bad contract they have is Jawaan Taylor who is a solid to good RT who will be gone after this coming season. When you’ve got a ton of key players on rookie deals and nobody on terrible deals, you can afford to keep most of your core intact. Even with that, they’ve had to part with guys like Thuney and Sneed recently, though. -
Another one - Trey Hendrickson asks for a trade from Cincy

Maybe I’m misreading this. Are you saying that adding a top 5 pass rusher would be less impactful than adding Saquan? Cook played his ass off against the Chiefs whereas Saquan wasn’t really a factor. The reason the Eagles won is basically the same reason every time Kansas City loses. Their defensive line overwhelmed us. There’s simply no solution to that problem. The Texans did the same thing in the Divisional round, but their offense wasn’t good enough to take advantage of it. You don’t beat Mahomes in the playoffs by having a better RB. You beat him by planting him in the turf every time he drops back.
