I don't think we have a line that isn't good at stopping the run, I think we run a scheme that isn't designed to really stop the run. This gets exploited on occasion when we aren't controlling the game and when teams see we aren't playing to stop it. I expect that we see a scheme on Sunday that is designed to keep everything short and in front of them with safeties moved up and linebackers close to the line of scrimmage Leave our corners on man and let's see what they can do

You're 100% right, and without Flowers it hurts them even more Give me Douglas and Benford on Bateman and Agholor on the outside and we'll keep eight in the box Lamar has always struggled when he's seen something unusual from the defense that forces him to win with throws on the outside McDermott should definitely be looking at schemes like this for Sunday, and if he's not, then he's doing the defense a disservice

The reason Ravens maybe the most difficult out for the Bills
BeastMaster replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I feel the same way I think there's just alot working in the Bills favor karma wise, health wise, and this team has been in this spot now for what will be the third consecutive season. Baltimore is riding a little too high while beating on flawed opponents and living off of their win against us when they were a desperate 1-2 team at home. This may give them a flase sense that they can handle us without much issue, and that would be a grave mistake IMO This team plays up to their competition, and when they are counted out and disrespected, they show up and remind everyone that they are as good as anyone when it comes down to it It's truly a matter of will McDermott be able to finally get his defense to show up in what will be maybe it's most daunting challenge yet...a powerhouse Ravens offense that is designed to attack an area that has shown to be our weakness at times. For some reason, my mind is telling me that he will get the defense to rise to the moment this time -
Snow would not be good for us due to nobody having footing and Henry being a downhill bruiser with straight line speed I'll take wind and cold all day with Josh at QB

Broncos @ Bills - Playoff game day thread (1st half)

What do you expect when you use a slot corner as a hybrid LB? -
The list of writers that are voting for MVP include a large portion of Lamar is the best thing since sliced bread mindset I think it will be extremely close, but due to what we know about many of the writers on the list, I'd say it's more likely Lamar than Josh

The New McDermott - Great Buscaglia Article

His defense has to show up in these playoffs or nothing has changed -
I'm still trying to figure out how 49 out of 50 voters placed their vote for Lamar last season when his numbers were so far off from past MVP's that it was laughable. The Ravens were the best defense in the league last season, and that was what drove their record. They made a mockery of the award last season, so I now no longer have any expectations as to who will get it and what it's based on. I'm placing a bet on Lamar so at least I can make some money if Josh gets screwed again by these writers

This is fair Still...if we have a major blunder with a punt return, it would go down as quite the blunder, no?

Broncos at Bills Sunday 1pm (confirmed)
BeastMaster replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
You also have to remember that Baltimore was 1-2 at the time and the Bills hadn't lost. They were desperate and at home. Buffalo was sitting pretty. This team still didn't have Amari Cooper, and they were still trying to find their footing offensively. I think that game was a combination of things that favored Baltimore and didn't favor Buffalo Josh was simply bad in Houston. I think he really wanted to prove to Diggs and everyone else that he was every bit of the guy he was thought to be, and that he pressed. This team isn't one that can't beat good teams. They have risen to the moment against the best teams, but the defense has folded in the playoffs They have to stand up this postseason -
Broncos at Bills Sunday 1pm (confirmed)
BeastMaster replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Aggressiveness on defense pays off...see the Lions last Sunday against the vikings Fortune favors the bold McDermott and his defensive philosophy allows the best QB's to simply pick them apart and kill them slowly with prolonged drives All the excuses for him and the defense are gone. If they completely fold like they have done, the blame falls squarely on him -
Henry is absolutely the engine that drives Baltimores offense Take him out of the game, and keep Lamar in the pocket Make him beat our linebackers and secondary with his arm
-
I have also been a supporter of not paying RB's, but a true top flight RB should at least be made a fair offer to retain Cook is on the cusp of potentially being one of those backs IMO. His smoothness as a runner is a thing of beauty, and he is also a very good pass catcher and appears to have fixed his ball security issues I would make him a fair offer. If he decides he wants to go somewhere else cause a team wants to pay a hefty price for him, then I let him walk and take the compensatory pick to draft another RB
-
This is actually incorrect Less INT's, but more fumbles and fumbles lost. He has one more total turnover

They will play on Saturday wild card weekend which will give them an extra day to prepare for us

Random talking head says something about the Bills
BeastMaster replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott and his defense are destined to fail in the postseason. He is terrible against the top QB's and his coaching counterparts It's literally up to Brady and Allen to completely overwhelm the opposing defense to come out on top in a matchup against KC and maybe even Baltimore now with Henry to open things up for Lamar. -
NFL did Lamar and the Ravens a massive favor Fact of the matter is the almighty dollar rules the league, and they will always choose that over fairness/competitive balance If I'm McDermott, I'm using that to my advantage to fire my guys up just a bit more

Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs - Can the Bills run through this gauntlet.
BeastMaster replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott will put this team behind the 8 ball off the rip because if he wins the coin toss, he will choose to put the defense out there and they will likely surrender points, which is not the formula for this team to win We should be taking the ball and putting teams behind to keep them from trying to run and eating up T.O.P. I do believe we have yet to see the best from our defense, so I'm not as down on them as others are, but if they are at or close to full strength and they get steamrolled again and ruin a herculean effort from Allen, I hope McDermott faces massive backlash -

Will He Reinvent Himself: Coach Sean McDermott
BeastMaster replied to waterglass's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is ridiculous It's completely within reason to have issues with McDermott and the defensive side of the ball wilting every postseason being he's a defensive minded coach that made his mark as a DC His winning percentage has more to do with Josh freaking Allen than him or his defense, and his top ten defense in 5 out of 8 years means little when they get completely manhandled when the games become do or die Good coach? Sure. Great coach. No. Josh hasn't even made a championship game despite putting up absurd numbers in numerous playoff games, and that is on McDermott and that defense you are so high on Claiming anyone who believes this as someone that has a personal issue with McDermott is a bad take, dude -
I was one of the bigger fans of the Mack Hollins signing here when it happened He's exactly the type of player you want on a winning team that plays for each other

McDermott deserves praise for JA’s career year
BeastMaster replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott is also responsible for the defense that has not only failed Josh this season, but has failed him every year in the playoffs Spare me the McD praise -
It does happen here It didn't in LA, and the criticism was justified I think they did a better job today and Detroit is the top offense in the league with an elite OC and 10 days to plan for a home game against us
-
Detroit is the number 1 offense in the league that had 10 days off for a home game Bills did enough on D to stop Detroit from being able to run the ball down our throat and keep Josh off the field I'll take it
