  1. I always think of this in business terms... You buy an entity, book valued at $B+, and you want to ensure growth for 10-15 yrs. Good for you. In this particular space, your COO is the most important position for future value. You get to pick him; good on you again. One catch: he's not going to be much older than freaking 22, and even chance he will fail big time. So Pegulas take the plunge, on a young'n many took to be a long shot. And they end up with this driven yet humble 24-yr old, expertly guiding their now $2B (Bills only) enterprise! Imagine the faith (and trust) that took. And one more thing son: the stock price is going through the roof.
  2. Ok. I'll go ahead and second that motion.
  3. Warning to all: My TBD board configuration just went kaflooe (sp?) for several minutes. Seriously, it did. So... The Badge must be watching us man! Wants to shut this discussion down, and he owns the night. #resistance
  4. Yet another good point in this thread. I recall interesting MLB study (few yrs ago?) that demonstrated statistically significant bias by umpires in favor of home team. Focus was ball/strikes, and seem to remember it was in the 5 percent range, but don't quote me. Theoretical explanation was basic human psychology: at the margins, the umps would rather not get booed. Same dynamic in NFL on field calls? Who knows? Mongo only pawn in game of life.
  5. Very insightful...reminds me of the ever evolving catch rule, or when they changed OT. For some reason, it took me a while to figure out (of course I'm a dumb a**, so there's that).
  6. Wait...you are the anatomy prof good sir! If you don't know, then we really are doomed. Please say it's ok, just for the rest of us.
  7. In honor of the pre-game haiku tradition, but olde english-y style: Yon refs, go blow me Mandalorian arise! Britches, a 'be wet
  8. In my best irish lilt, which I heard a lot growing up: Jesus, Mary and Joseph, son.
  9. I'm trying my best impression of @Miyagi-Do Karate
  10. This. Fav player so carefully study his route running. He's not just a quickness guy. Rather, his main asset is subtle tempo changes off line of scrimmage, followed by great spatial awareness and then burst, as we all know. My bad analogy: he watches the flower bloom for a nanosecond, then arrives where the petals ain't.* *Obviously, not on every play, but it's how he's such a zone killer.
  11. Great point. I would add it speaks volumes re the team's current psyche. Dion Dawkins wrote (playerstribune) specifically about the JA ball-spin-personal foul, esp in context of post Hail Murray: "And then the next game, we played the Chargers, and Josh f*cking sonned them by spinning the ball in their faces. Yeah — that got us loose, man. I think we needed that. MVP."
  12. I get what you're saying. But bease has emphatically said--multiple times, on the record--that he doesn't care about any of that stuff...at this point in his career. Rather, he cares about winning his particular route, or winning his role in the play (eg, good block). Further still, it doesn't matter if he gets targeted, only if he does his job. Last part is a paraphrase. I get athlete-speak, but imho, he's sincere on this.
  13. Thanks to @JGMcD2 for article (I'm not a subscriber) and cogent analysis. One thing we seem to forget amidst the shoulder injury discussion: JA's been playing w (significant??) knee and ankle injuries during/after Week 12. Nature unspecified, but bad enough to be consistently listed on the Injury Report. Indeed, last week was the first time I recall he was not wearing the knee brace, but don't quote me on that. So, like...triple-tough-greatness.
  14. Good take. Not sure I agree 100 percent, but gotta tip cap to nuanced thinking.
  15. That thread, imv, is a fair representation of an under-dog fan base going into a WC game. Weighted toward the optimistic side but, as many have noted, considerable pessimism/realism. Re latter, my favorite is this pithy offer: "Buffalo should rest their starters". (Btw, classy entry on pg 5. Well done my friend @Inigo Montoya)
  16. I see what you did there...well played sir. Well played indeed.
  17. Good catch. This is absolutely true; read also. Oh, I love the smell of Fish Pathos. Smells like: victory.
  18. For no particular reason, I flipped thru 200+ pages of the Fins game thread. They were crying for Bills to take out starters (esp Allen) after the first freaking TD! Post second TD, it became biblical begging: rending of clothing, sheep slaughtering, etc. Enjoyable read actually.
  19. This. And, don't me wrong, I absolutely love JK. But watch (nearly) any full game YT vid fr that era, with the value of perspective and time. The evidence is clear, imho. Thurman was an other worldly dual-threat...the McCaffrey of his time only better. And he did it w that same quasi-draw play fr shotgun, over and over! How JA is doing this is amazing. I mean, I do like Motor and Moss, but does anyone scheme around them? I ain't no expert, but doubt it. JA is it. That said, I don't really care if he gets MVP, only SBVs
  20. Someone please tell me @Stank_Nasty called a ST TD for this game.
  21. Holy hell Doc! What style of internet-fu did you use to find this thing?
