  1. No way dude. He was clearly choked out by Jon Jones. One of his carotids almost burst.
  2. Man, you guys are a tough crowd! I actually liked the factoid (and Rounders clip). I don't know if it's just correlation or cause-effect, but interesting nonetheless. And, along w @Rc2catch, I would take Po as defensive mvp. Edit: I see @mattynhalready used the correlation argument, so ignore my bs.
  3. Asking an honest question - why do you hate it ? I dont know any other way to show my respect for someone who served. If I can learn from your thoughts, I may choose to not say that to the next vet or active service member. Very fair, thoughtful question. For the record, I'm never mean to anyone who says this...I do the standard "you're welcome" or similar, and appreciate the sentiment intellectually. Also, to be clear, I served in the GWOT for blah, blah (too many) yrs, but not in uniform, nor was I a contractor, but I was a full on combatant. So, nudge, nudge, wink, wink! Two things, as briefly as possible: 1. Someone says "thanks" I internally think "for what?"...as in, if I had done xyz, then my boy (call sign Moses, btw) would still be alive. Or, if I did abc, we could've zapped that bastard. Save your thanks for those in the cold, cold ground, they actually deserve it, not me. I know there's many vets on the board, and this may just be me, but I don't believe this feeling is completely out of norm. 2. "Ty for your service" is often a conversation stopper, not an opener. You see vets meet, and they'll ask about your unit, location, your MoS, whatever. And then laugh re how much better SoF is than Big Army (I kid, I kid). So my advice (who am I to give it?), if you're just passing someone by, then TY is all good. If, however, you're at a party or something, be naturally curious and fire away w those questions above, or those that interest you. And, probably best not to ask re personal body counts (not that you would). Bottom line: alot of this is just my own messed up psyche, b/c I plugged a bunch in and not sure what really came from it. Apologies for long answer. Now back to the Bills! Mods: realize I'm pulling this too far off the rails. Next time I'll DM something like this.
  4. And they have, ya know, She Whose Name Shall Not Be Spoken.
  5. Double thanks for...well, you know. I honestly hate it when people say this to me, so I hope you don't take offense. But, in this case, a "thanks" looks well deserved brother.
  6. I'm w those who normally don't care about, or watch, these shows (not sure why I saw AtH today). But this crap is ridiculous. Awful, lazy reporting as others allude. Ref above quote, Isola said similar, but in even more bizarre fashion. With literally the LJ concussion play rolling on screen, he said--I kid you not: "Lamar looked like he was ready to take over the game...(sotto voce) well, after the 101 yard pick six." WTF!!!!
  7. Pokebball: this is so on the money. Just watching Around the Horn (I know, I know) and Isola literally said this. Normally, I don't care about this stuff, but you're entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts.
  8. Something hinky going on here, 1st w carotid rationale business, and/but(?) now nerve issue is the problem. With due respect to this doc (not ref you personally), he obviously knows med piece, but must not know anything about carotid techniques or mma (aka, mcamp/combatives). Don't know what a "hit" to carotid is, but it would be a rare successful strike...not incl combat gsw, which is damn near fatal. More to the point are carotid chokes, often a "rear naked choke". It's happened to me many times (aka, my a** kicked up and down), and I've handed out one or two. Even w, say, 2-3s of carotid choke, recovery is surprisingly quick...you do NOT look like PH did. Or at least I've never seen it. Squeeze long enough, no doubt you can really hurt someone. Also, imo, guillotine choke (cuts air supply) is more dangerous, esp as some techniques crank the neck. Not saying I'm the Great Martial Artist (most definitely not) but this is well known amongst practicioners. Personally, I've decided this is a complex conspiracy, meant to gin up ratings. //sarc
  9. I got you brother, so was I! This ain't Planet A-hole forum, as you well know. Maybe I should have added the sarc tag to mine, but I still can't figure out it's meaning.
  10. Perhaps confusing @streetkings01 w me? If so, how dare you sir: I am a Duke by god, and have no time for the Hoi Polloi.
  11. Yes sir. Didn't think of him. There is even a physical resemblance. Wish I could do a side-by-side, but I'd just torque it up.
  12. Like the Island of Misfit Toys? Edit for OP @jwhit34: meant this in a humorous way. I mean, think about the characters... King Moonraker=Beane, Clarice=Kim Pegula, Coach Comet=Obvious; Hermey=Josh Allen; Rudolph=Diggs, the misunderstood reindeer who can fly. Don't know if we have a Yukon Cornelius though.
  13. Roger all and thanks. I am Un Grand Artiste, always in search of motivation. /sarc tag (which I still don't quite understand)
  14. Yes, my stupidity > actual brain function. In my defense, I thought this was the immediate-hot-takes-without-thinking thread.
  15. This is, without question, an occipital lobe concussion, w clear spleen-itis complications. He will be out for 8.3 days. I kid...I'm just freakin' kidding. Edit: that said, he sure looked like he was in the Land of Cookoo for Cocoa Puffs.
  16. As always, thanks @Virgil. I always like your insight re the "lesser-noticed", in this case Horrible and EO. One thing--and I trust I didn't miss it in your review--is that Tre is an under-appreciated tackler, imv. Also, wish I could give double like for Bobby McGee ref. Great song to play on guitar, capo or no capo. Finally, what is your "process" on the weekly #4s? What spirit moves to drop a particular verse?
  17. So Bill-sy that this, of course, is the week with extra day of rest. Edit: forget the stupid s**t I said above.
  18. Hadn't thought of this. Interesting take.
  19. With apologies for multiple comments... Yet another great Bark Jacket-Waving moment. He is our MVJW.
  20. Yes, completely normal. All I remember is someone screaming in my ears (well, it was me), and then I lost all proprioception.
  21. Mods: a good example of why we need a "Greater Than Awesome" button. Not that it won't complicate your lives or anything...
  22. I just now understood this. Apologies, I'm slow. Damn funny.
  23. I'm honestly not trying to wash balls here but... that is a freaking genius comment. Never ceases to amaze what can be found at TSW.
  24. Yes, which is exactly why one uses certain chemical weapons only during an inversion layer. So, how far can I pull this thread off the rails?
  25. Agreed. But, quick add: my comment(s) were in context of LJ's apparent lack of improvement in his reads, esp vav JA. Scheme, LJ issue, both? Personally not sure.
